  1. So since I want to get a balcony, and do not want to be one deck above smokers, since smoke rises, how do I find out which parts of which decks are smoking areas before I book.

I have been on some ships where the promenade deck port side was smoking and some had the starboard side smoking.

I have learned that phoning Carnival and asking them is useless because if I ask 3 different employees I get three different answers.

Unfortunately no deck or level will be smoke free necessarily. Smoking is not allowed and I can't say if they will or won't be able to enforce it. It really depends whether your neighbors smoke or not. I have been cruises where I smelled all the time and cruises where maybe smelled it once. No rhyme or reason to who will smoke on their balconies.

You safest strategy would be decks further to the front of ship and maybe lower. I hope you find a cabin to your liking

  2.

Sorry but you and Xerox are seriously undereducated. The marijuana of today is not the same as back in the 60s and 70s. It's treated the same as food and gene technology allows the growers to target certain ailments. Seizure control is a major problem controlled by the usage. Sure there are still the potheads but at least all they do is call Pizza Hut for a delivery and aren't out there shooting up the town. That "gateway" theory is pushed by the Big Pharm Cartel. Zero benefit to tobacco. Give me one benefit?? There are your lobbyists. You do know the cig companies were aware of the poisons in their products as early as the 60s?

Undereducated, you will be my poster child of uneducated you don't know me nor I you. Today the difference is the stuff is much stronger and unless used for real medical reasons such as seizures then it's drug use which is a problem. So let's be clear when your getting heart surgery you want to pass out weed so the doctors and nurses can get high before they operate?? And please don't educate me on how it's good for the economy with taxes. We have more drug treatment centers going up by alarming rates in this country. Off my soapbox!

  3. Really, I live in Colorado, where do you get your stats. I have not heard of any accidents caused by marijuana. Medical doctors do prescribe marijuana in the form of cannabinoids. Read about Charlotte's web. To compared marijuana and alcohol and it's negative affects is absurd

Really?? Really?? You must be smoking a lot. Lol. Because the information is back east produced from your workers compensation bureau and other sources. It's a hallucinogenic drug. Such as altered reality. That's why you missing it. But I'm done with this topic. I am not going to waste time debating with people who want to promote drugs.

  4. Paperbk. You make a good point just how early is necessary to arrive. I have been arriving a day before for years now due to an early cruise in which the airline overbooked and we stood standby in Atlanta. Needless to say we flew to Miami instead of Ft. Lauderdale and had to get transportation to Fort Lauderdale. Stressful day as we made the boat with just 5 minutes to spare. Airline lied to us on numerous things. There one comment was we should arrive a day earlier. I argued if you bump me and I go to standby I may need to plan to be everywhere a week earlier!! You will only get on a flight with space available. It's stinks and it's the way it is when we all fly. However, since I have been arriving a day early I have not had the same since. I feel sorry for all the people traveling with the hurricane events of this week. It's got to be a nightmare

  5. Sure. Alcohol has killed so many and damaged the lives of many good people. Children, family members and so many more are effected. My parents smoked cigarettes. I can handle the smell but I don't like it. However I don't complain about it and let those that do enjoy their vacation. I do think smoking, drugs and alcohol is all bad. If it was good for us the entire medical community would say throw down those vegetables and start smoking, drinking and doing drugs to live better and longer. Lol.

At the same time if you can do that without hurting others, including me etc. then by all means destroy your body. At the same time I will be as nice as I can be to everyone love and pray for them. I want nothing but the best for anyone. Happy cruising!

  6. Number of Deaths due to Marijuana in the History of Man ???? I don't know the number for tobacco but I bet you your bank account it isn't ZERO.

What does that mean? I hope your not saying smelling marijuana is ok? Or worse using it since it is listed by the federal government at the same level drug class as cocaine etc. I have no clue on it's deaths but I do know there are plenty of reports now from Colorado about vehicle accidents and workplace accidents that are a direct result of marijuana. So to me it's a very bad choice to use either or any other drug that's not specifically prescribed by a medical doctor.

  7. If you were doing an excursion on Norwegian, RCCL princess or some other line then maybe I would tell you as a first time cruiser get off the ship and pick an excursion there. However, Carnival price is very close to port pricing and typically there isn't a exact match on many excursions therefore you can't beat their price. Lol. Carnival is reasonable on price and like others mentioned they guarantee you get back to the ship. After you get a cruise under your belt maybe try it.

  8. Here we go again on smoking. Lol. Well it has been said MSC has nonsmoking in the casino. If you want a smoke free casino experience book with them. The no smoking is not going away. I expect in the future there will be people smoking marijuana and other drugs as part of their cruising.

I am more worried about rampart drug use all across the country. If we get all that to stop.... then let's solve this problem.

  9. Well I would hate to give up the tactile feel carnival provides and the Warm Walmart atmosphere carnival provides. It provides a earthy real feel that reminds me of home. If I booked a suite I might miss all of the people and atmosphere onboard. Devouring a guys burger on the lido deck or the wonderful muster drills were we all get to stand next to each other as sweat and stink encapsulates the air.

These are the priceless things Carnival provides better than anyone. Forget that suite stuff people and perks or you might lose touch with our own humanity... Lol. This is a humorous post to read if you read backwards.

  10. I eat all of my meals in MDR only meals outside of that our first meal for lunch on board and last breakfast on ship departure and that is only if the MDR is definitely closed. I want service, cleanliness and better food which I think you get. I have never had one instance of being sick from food or norovirus in 14 cruise and I think it's part of it. The buffet area is a breeding ground for germs. And yes I do worry about germs.... Lol

  11. We took a local tour company to I believe it's called coconut beach. It has a giant water slide on it. There is no mistaking which one has the big waterslide. The tour operator gave us a price for tour and when we got the beach we had to pay to get into beach seperate lt. They will definitely lie to their advantage in Belize. I do suggest do not go,down the giant waterslide. DO NOT. I went down the slide 3 times. It's unsafe the bottom of pool is rough concrete. Thanks to that slide my feet hitting bottom of pool tore the skin from both heels. It was a disaster to have bloody and bruised feet on a cruise. Thankfully I didn't break my foot because I thought I did.

  12. Sounds like you answered your own question...if the internet is what you need the most, go for it. Also, if you're planning on just touching base daily, 250 minutes should be plenty.

    Enjoy your cruise,

    Tracy

Exactly. There isn't a question from the OP. Just statements as to why they wouldn't pick anything except they need wifi.

  13. Since these finals are rigged for the Cavs to win, I'd prefer to hang out and watch the sea go by with my cocktail in hand.

Haha. You must be Steph Curry's wife or mom. If they are rigged for Cavs to win let's keep it going. Go Cavs!

  14. I remember when NCL came up with the Freestyle concept. My DH loved the idea of going to dinner at whatever time we wanted to and not having to dress for formal night. With our upcoming Escape cruise, my TA suggested, and from what I have been reading here on CC, we should make reservations in advance for dinner and entertainment BEFORE we even get on the ship. It seems like this defeats point of being flexible and free while on vacation. I don't want to pre-plan every night in advance, just not my style. We like to be more flexible. We like to see what's on the MDR menu for dinner and then decide where to eat that night. Same with the entertainment. So if we don't pre-plan in advance does that mean we are going to miss out on having dinner in some of the restaurants or missing the entertainment we want to see? Are there any others out there that just like to "wing it" with success? :D

Well said and a good point. I do look at excursions before I sail. But I don't want to plan dinner or schedule shows before I get on board. It takes the whole being free and relaxed feeling away
