  1. I’m on the Getaway in Sept. and they are still allowing us to book the Million Dollar Quartet.
  2. I think you only get 2 FAS per cabin. You don’t both get 2.
  3. I’m a loyalist…sometimes to the point of the absurd! I also really, really hate change. However, you have given me a lot to consider. Most of my bucket list places are to far flung, exotic locations. Based on my own experiences with NCL and what I’ve read in these boards, I should look at other lines.
  4. What does the Q restaurant serve? Is it specialty?
  5. Agreed! I hadn’t read the other thread and didn’t understand the OP’s concern. I used the terms interchangeably but cruiseny4life is correct, the HI have a small whirlpool. And, it really only comfortably fits one person at a time. It’s a nice perk to have after a long touring day, but the primary attraction of the HI’s is that it’s the least expensive way to be part of the Haven. (And, it used to include free spa access. However, that’s sadly no longer the case).
  6. I’ll report back if I’m notified of a change and/or offered compensation for my ‘inconvenience.’ I will not be amused!
  7. Well, I contracted for a hot tub (retired attorney here). You could try to get a straight answer from NCL. But, who knows what last minute changes NCL may make! However, I don’t think they would still continue to advertise the cabins one way, while reconstructing them.
  8. I just booked one for this Fall. It’s now called an HI and is still advertised as having the whirlpool. If they take the hot tub out, I’m not sure what would distinguish these rooms as Haven. They are already outside the Haven complex.
  9. Ah, yes! I remember it well! 😁 I’m going to have to set my husband’s expectations this Fall. He’s still stuck in yesteryear…when he could get multiple entrees. We’ve been taking land vacations since winter 2018 (pre-Covid).
  10. Am I remembering this correctly? I recall when we first starting sailing in the Haven (2013 or so) Haven passengers didn’t have to pay gratuities on the beverage package or specialty restaurants. They also included 5 nights of specialty restaurants. For that reason, during that period we only ate in the Haven a few nights each cruise! Not to mention how reasonable the prices were then…
  11. I’ve been in the Haven 5 times out of our 7 NCL cruises (we switched from other lines and have never looked back)! One thing I loved is that you quickly earned platinum status by sailing in the Haven (at least under the old system). Thanks for posting the deviled eggs. I don’t recall seeing them previously, but will try some of your favorites this Sept.
  12. I don’t really like the Haven lunch menu, so sometimes we’ll go to the Manhattan, O’Sheeans or even buffet for lunch. My children are no longer teens, and don’t often vacation with us now, but they really didn’t care for the haven lunch.
  13. True, but I seldom purchase the free cancellation/free exchange ticket. It’s usually approx $100 more expensive. But, I get your point, some airlines offer that for free ( Southwest being one of them).
  14. Okay. The airline example is a good one. There, you won’t even get a future airline credit if the price decreases!
  15. Actually, yes on the coat! Most department store retailers will give you the discount up to 30 days.
  16. Thank you for that list! Guindalf’s in the Haven so can book the specialty restaurants at day 130.
  17. I embarked in Venice, but also flew into Venice. I was reacting to posts that stated cruisers had received stamps from all countries visited during a cruise. Apparently, that was the case in years gone by…
  18. Getaway. I know we can eat at the Haven restaurant, but they used to invite you to eat at Margeritaville or the American dinner free for lunch on the first day.
  19. This is my first post COVID cruise. I remember there was an alternative specialty restaurant that Haven guests could complementary go to on that first day (Margaritaville, and then later American Diner). Is there an alternative?
  20. We will be there pre-cruise 8/30-9/1 and post cruise 9/10-9/11. So, not a lot of time. But, we’re staying at Athens/Gate, which I understand is within walking distance of a lot of sites!
  21. Thank you. We’re embarking in Athens on our next cruise and I was wrestling with the issue of whether to try to tour a bit and board later. I also don’t really like hanging around the Haven boarding area or the Haven Lounge waiting for the cabins to open. (I usually handle dining and entertainment reservations prior to boarding. So, no need for assistance from the concierge on that day). I’m leaning toward boarding at 1:00pm or so, and having a late lunch.
  22. That cabin is absolutely beautiful. And that balcony…!!! It was my first time on a cruise with a separate Haven observation lounge. It is also a beautiful space. Unfortunately, we had inclement weather the entire time. If I could win a huge jackpot for choosing a cruise week with poor weather, I’d be extremely wealthy! I always seem to pick a cruise impacted by a hurricane. We also sailed to the Mexican Riviera (early Oct. 2018), but the cruise was diverted because of weather. We ended up going to San Diego, Ensenada, Mexico and San Francisco. The ship is so amazing that we made the best of it. It’s a bit of a hike to the Haven courtyard, but I didn’t find it that prohibitive.
  23. I have repeatedly stayed at The White Hotel. We love it. It’s a lovely, small boutique hotel literally down the street from the Trevi Fountain ( so easy to find again after a long day of touring). ( We just ask cab drivers to take us to the Trevi Fountain 🤣). It’s also easy walking distance to most other attractions ( Spanish steps, pantheon). Just another alternative for you!
  24. I cruised on the NCL Jade in 2015 to Croatia, Greece, and Turkey and didn’t have one stamp to show for it!
