  1. There are a couple of other things for visitors to be cognizant of when planning a trip to Water Island. They are not usually a show stoppers but are things to be aware of. Transportation to Water Island is via the Water Island Ferry. It is NOT a water taxi that goes on demand; the ferry has scheduled departure times. Also the ferry is a much smaller boat than most visitors expect (nothing like the St. John Ferry). The Water Island Ferry carries only 25 passengers. During holidays, “high” season, or when there are two ships in Crown Bay the ferry will almost certainly be filled to capacity on its scheduled runs. Be prepared for possible wait times on both sides of the harbor. When heading to Water Island, waiting for the next run is merely an annoying inconvenience which wastes up to an hour; on the way back from Water Island DON’T assume you will be able to get on the last ferry before your "back on board" time. Allow a little extra time because nearly everyone heads back to the ship at approximately the same time and the ferry may be filled. Hope this information helps you to have a pleasant day in St. Thomas. :)

    Thanks.

  2. I am debating between heading to Water Island or Coki beach for the day in port.

I can't seem to locate clear information. We will be docking at Crown Bay. Only ship in port (currently). Is the water taxi in the same 'location' as the dock for the cruise in Crown Bay? Easy to navigate? (well marked?).

Would anyone advise not going to Water Island?

    TIA!

  3. Not that this will help this particular poster, but for others who are reading this, it's not accurate info.

Some cruises on Oasis (no other ships reported yet) are being given the opportunuity to use OBC pre-cruise.

Any word if this will be rolled out to all sailings and all ships?

  4. We will be in Barbados in February and would also love to swim with turtles. We were there a few years ago, and although the catamaran was fun, we were taken to a place where there were many other boats, and hundreds were looking at 2 turtles. Would love to avoid that next time, so I would love others advice. Thank you.😊

I just booked the Thriller Ocean Tour one that was previously mentioned. Will be going Nov 6 if you want to wait and Ill provide feedback. But based on all I read on Trip Advisor (only 91 5 star reviews LOL) I think it will be amazing.

Limited to about 12 people. $70/adult $40/kid 12 and under. I'm in port 10-7p Pickup is 1130a at the dock. Excursion starts at 12p. 3 1/2 hours long. 3 snorkel stops and beach break. Drinks and snack included.

  5. I just had an awesome experience snorkeling with Thriller Ocean Tours. Only 12-15 people on board, owner operated, all equipment provided and a full day of snorkeling! And giant turtles :)

Best tour I have ever been on!

Will you provide details... cost, pick up/drop off, etc.

    Thanks :)

  6. A roomette is certainly more comfortable, and cheaper on the Silver Star than on the Silver Meteor, since the Star doesn't have a full dining car. There is no way to lock the roomette from the outside (only from the inside), but I've never had anything go missing. If you have anything really valuable, I suggest locking it in a suitcase and attaching the suitcase to something with a cable lock (also very handy if you're traveling by train in Europe and have to store your case out of sight on a coach trip during the day).

There's a baggage car on both trains for checked baggage; you just need to board the train at a station where they will accept it. Otherwise, it goes in the room with you.

I love flying, but I also like the train trip and find it relaxing.

Thank you for all your insight!
