  1. Our only disappointment with the Koningsdam is the promenade deck, other than that, we love this ship.

The rooms may be smaller but , as Lady Arwen said, those wonderful showers.

The comment about happy hour in Billboard made me laugh. It does seem as if all the passengers show up for that but it’s not just the drinks but the never ending appetizers.

You know, because the ship doesn’t feed us enough.;p

  2. Thanks for your reply.

We are 5 adults and 4 teenagers (13 to 17). I was really hoping I wouldn’t have to call again as I found them less than helpful about the specialty restaurants.

I really don’t want to arrive at the dining room the first night without a reservation and hope for a table for 9.

  3. We are a family group of 9 on Rhapsody of the Seas in March. I called to book one of the specialty restaurants and was told we couldn’t have a table for 9 but I could book two tables with no guarantee they would be next to each other. I am hoping this can be sorted directly with the restaurant once onboard.

I just tried to book My Time Dining and seem to be running into the same problem.

Will we be able to have a table for 9 in the MDR?

BTW, the website says reservations can be made for 10.

Second question, what are the times of the evening shows?

    Thank you.

  4. Hi Helen, we were on the Far East cruise with you last February. Your review was great, you should always write one.

We were on the Koningsdam in November and it is our new favourite ship.

It never felt crowded except one afternoon when the piano bar area was packed for a Beatles review.:D

All of the dining and entertainment venues were wonderful.

    The ship itself is beautiful.

We are in the process of booking a transatlantic on her. :D:D:D

  5. The Koningsdam is my new favourite HAL ship, it’s beautiful. We started the cruise in an ov and , after two nights, were moved to a balcony. Whatever the reason, we were happy.:)

Like the Prisendam, the seating area is at the window so you don’t have to kneel on the bed to look at that beautiful sea.

The 'fridge keeps everything (= white wine) cold, not just cool. There is lots of storage and the walk in shower is wonderful.

We tried every dining venue from Dive In to Sel de Mer and enjoyed them all. Service everywhere was excellent.

We did miss not sitting on the promenade deck but we still walked it.

The lido has some lovely, cushy seating areas.

There are lots of choices for entertainment, all good.

This was the biggest ship we have been on and the only time it felt crowded was at the Beatles show in the Billboard lounge featuring two pianos. It was great:D

We did talk to a couple who missed ballroom dancing in the Ocean Bar and overheard someone else that was complaining that their oatmeal was served in a black bowl:rolleyes: but our only complaint was having to disembark.

Great captain, great crew, great ship.

  6. We have had two upsell offers for our cruise in 9 :D days. We are in an OV and the offers were for balconies.

We thought they were both too $$.

Our TA called HAL yesterday and there are lots of staterooms still available.

If no other offers come through in the next week, she suggested we ask at embarkation.

Has anyone had experience with this?

    Thanks

  7. I like the wine packages, but sometimes they can be a hassle. When we have Anytime dining, it often takes awhile to find the wine steward and them for them to retrieve my bottle. Second, I have had the Pinnacle wine steward be "put off" by having to go get my bottle.

Have had the same impression in The Pinnacle.

Maybe the best way to fill in the time is to buy a glass of wine at a bar and take it into your dining venue, sipping calmly and happily while waiting for the wine steward.:)
