  1. Bar Harbor taxi service...post #24. I wouldn't use them again if we had the woman driver. Her idea of showing us some places was doing a drive by. I think she was the wife of one of the owners.

I was/am getting confused on the names. At Your Service is the same as Bar Harbor Taxi, correct? I emailed barharbortaxi@gmail.com and Clare Bingham, the owner emailed me back.

  2. I use a combination of DIY, private tours and ship tours. Depending on the port I try to figure out which will be the best choice. Like this poster I have found the guides on ship tours are local guides who want you to love their locale. I know that some people avoid ship tours because they don't like the big bus. Last year on our Canada cruise a private tour company (that was strongly recommended on cc) put 6 of us in a 7 person minivan. While the guide was great, I would opt for the bus when it comes to comfort.

Which tour company? I'm currently researching which tour companies to book on my NE/Canada cruise in October.

  3. I just booked the October 6th 9 night RCCL Anthem of the Seas New England/Canada cruise. I'm a regular on RCCL, but usually sail the smaller ships. Excited to try out all the features of a new ship, plus the dining venue rotation sounds interesting.

Best part is the direct flight from Tampa to Newark for less than $300!

  4. Hi there,

I'll be sailing from Cape Liberty for the first time on October 6th/Anthem. My plan is to fly in the day of to Newark, direct flight from Tampa arriving @ 9:41 AM and reserving a car service to take us (2 people) directly to the port. I read that RCCL cancelled it's bus contract.

There is no more RCCL provided transportation from EWR to Cape Liberty? I thought since flying in the day of it may be safer to use their transport.

    Thanks for any comments/suggestions!

  5. I am looking at Celebrity for June of 2017, but I would rather go with Royal Caribbean. We need to make the plans as soon as possible because some of the people in our party need to make very early arrangements in order to get the dates off. Based on precious years, when might we expect the European itinerary? I am wondering if we should wait or just go with Celebrity?

I've booked my summer Europe sailings in mid-March of the previous year. Watch the boards for when dates open as (per usual) the contributors here know more than the reps do!

  6. My DH cannot take vacation in October, November, or December:mad: and hoped to take a river cruise in January and still see the Christmas Markets. I have seen a few that are still open until the first week of January but not many.

I wondered if any of you have taken a river cruise in January and your experience with the markets being open? Please tell me I don't have to wait until retirement to do this DREAM cruise!

  7. In fact the Harwich runs are gone in 2016 season - but if you are looking for a similar TA to those starting from Harwich to US in 2015, the Copenhagen - Boston TA via Iceland might be appealing for you - 28th of Aug 2016 on Serenade otS, via Norway, Faroe, Iceland and Canada. [emoji5]

Thanks. I've done the Harwich - Boston TA and it's fabulous! I was really looking to do the Tampa - Harwich TA. I'm 30 minutes from the port of Tampa and really liked the idea of the Ireland ports, plus the easy one-way flight back home from London.

  8. RCI have announced an 8 ship European deployment.

Harmony is released in Europe as a new build there.

Brilliance was deployed from Tampa to Barcelona.

Serenade was deployed to Copenhagen from PE.

Navigator was deployed from PE to Southampton

Independence was deployed from PE to Southampton

Vision will sail from Tampa to Barcelona and on to Venice most likely.

The Rhapsody TA from Brazil is in the system from last years deployment.

Jewel is going to Barcelona and then Rome from dry dock and has not been deployed. It is unclear if the dry dock is in Cadiz or if she will do a crossing.

There are not any sailings from Harwich in the 2016-17 deployment.

CRAP! I know there must be a lot of disappointed Boston people as many do the repo cruise every year.

  9. Just want to let you all know we had a great experience using Park N Cruise this past week. Pulled right into the lot just after 11:00 AM, parked my car and kept the keys. Easy on, easy off with the shuttle ready on our return trip right outside Terminal 1.

  10. No, as the line of cars were finally allowed in, you wait in your car until they come up to

the window and give you a valet tag for your keys. You then leave your car, grab your luggage and

proceed to the main building for check in. Once checked in, you line up for the shuttle inside the

building for transfer to the terminal.

Thank you. It was just so easy last year, I'm wondering if I should look into somewhere else.

  11. Well this is sounding like a nightmare:mad:

I used ParkNCruise last year and it was very smooth. Driving over from Tampa I'll have to re-think what time I should arrive even though I selected I want to be on the 11:00 AM shuttle. When you finally were able to enter was it a nightmare with everyone unloading their luggage and trying to get on the shuttle? How was the crowd controlled? May have to think about an alternative.
