  1. I have registered my credit card for a forthcoming cruise and have to make the decision whether to (a) use Celebrity Cruises currency conversion programme or (b) have my credit card issuer convert. What is the best choice? I live in the United Kingdom.

    Thanks.

  2. Oceanview is fairly good in the evenings. There is usually a curry station, as well as steaks/fish cooked to order. It is a very nice place to eat. There is always a large salad bar. They serve sushi every evening from around 5.00pm until 9.00pm. Definitely more than pasta/pizza!

We are also Elite and especially enjoy the free bag of laundry and free internet minutes.

Sometimes, if there are a large number of Elites on board, you get vouchers to use for drinks at any of the bars.

  3. Thanks for that. Understand now. Glad P&O are welcoming to all. I will let my friends know why and send them the link. Perhaps they will change their minds and join us after all!

Thanks for all the helpful answers.

  4. Oh dear! I hope they're not all ancient conservatives!! We are inn our 50's but don't act like it. Always last at the Bar on Celebrity.

Thank you for your opinion and the welcome. I came on this forum a couple of years ago and was totally flamed for "gatecrashing". I had not explained that our best friends are gay, as I did not feel the need to justify myself, but somebody took offence!

Our best friends are from Manchester too! We are from outside Belfast but regularly have weekends in Manchester and they come over to Northern Ireland too.

Will report on P&O attitudes to GLBT after our cruise.

  5. Apologies if anyone thinks I should not be on this thread!

So, my husband and I are a straight couple and our best friends are a gay couple. We have cruised with them on Celebrity and had a marvellous experience. We have invited them to come on a P&O cruise with us but they have declined, stating that P&O are not gay friendly and do not permit gay weddings on their ships. They are getting married next year themselves (can't wait!) so we totally understand their views. Do any of you know if this is true about P&O?

Once again, apologies if you feel I am highjacking this forum.

  6. Sorry if this has been asked before but I can't find an answer. Going on CMV Magellan on 4th April and wondering if we can bring a couple of bottles of wine on with us for the cabin. Can't find any information on their website and don't want to break any rules! Some lines allow it and some don't.

    Thanks.

  7. My wife and I have specifically booked 7097 twice -- it's a great location -- quiet, as there are only a few nearby cabins and very little corridor traffic. The cabin has a spacious veranda, great bathroom set-up, and more room than we could possibly use. I wish I was there now (instead of at work)!

Great to know. Really excited now. Packing this Sunday as I leave straight after work on the Friday before the cruise.

  8. Thanks everyone. Gave George the cruise tickets on Saturday night at his 60th birthday party. He was thrilled. Don't know how I managed to keep it a secret but I did. Really getting excited now. Can start packing at last!

  9. Thank you.

I realise that a 3 night cruise will not give us the full Cunard experience, but it fits in with school holidays and DH 60th birthday. Will a Q5 be the minimum we will get?

  10. Thanks for answers. We are seasoned cruisers, but this is our first time on Cunard - normally Celebrity. We usually cruise aqua class with them, so this is our first time in a suite as well. Really looking forward to it. I am sure the Queens Grill normal menu will be fine and we can order a la carte on the middle night.

How do we let them know our beverage preferences? Do we need to phone beforehand, or will butler take orders onboard?

  11. I have just (about an hour ago) upgraded from a P2 to a Guarantee Q6 for £100 per person on a 3 night cruise. My Voyage Personaliser is still showing the original stateroom 5001 and so are my e-tickets. Does anyone know when we will be allocated a room number and are all the Queens Grill perks available on the mini cruises?

    Thanks.

  12. Cunard do not show you to your cabin so have a good look at the deck plans to work out your route to your cabin, You should be boarding amidships & I find that its best to use the amidships lifts to get to the grills restaurant on deck 11 the Port side left hand lift & the starboard side right hand lift go to deck 11 the other lifts do not

We are in 5001 - easy to find - any further forward and we will be swimming! Are the Grills Restaurants open for lunch on boarding day? Would be great as the buffet is always packed on the first day.

  13. You are a Grills passenger & that gives you priority boarding. When you enter the building after dropping of your luggage keep to the LEFT & go to the end Grills book in is there. If you join the main queue its a pain & is not necessary for grill passengers to join this queue.

Great! First Cunard experience so appreciate any information. We are Elite with Celebrity so just love priority boarding!

  14. I am on the same cruise as a surprise for my husband's 60th birthday! We have done more than 20 cruises, short and long, and we always check our bags with the porters. Looking forward to it. First time with Cunard so it is a good taster. Normally cruise Celebrity.
