  1. It's been about 6-7 years, since my last cruise, due to a variety of reasons. Plan on changing this soon! Everything will be new to me, so I'll be happy to order anything!  Even from the kiddy menu, if they'd let me-some people like to "get in touch with their inner child-but some days, I feel like I have a whole  kindergarten"!! 😬

I am getting this offer on the Carnival website, specifically for a "free" oceanview room plus $200 in funplay.  Code EL6.  When I click on the offer, it navigates to another page also entitled Luminosa Holiday Away Offer, but this is for a "free" balcony plus $500 funplay.  Code EL7.  Immediately below this language, however, it also says "Oh Snap There arnen't any cruises with the details you searched for."   So it appears I can't actually book this offer.

The deal has been this way for several days now.  Does anyone else have a similar offer?  Is my offer broken?   I am thinking Carnival wants to give me the EL6 deal but has navigated me to EL7 and so the computer just says there isn't anything for me to book.

And, yes, I realize this in Australia, and I am highly unlikely to book it, but am still wondering if actual cruises are available to anyone under this offer.

Calnev1-sorry, I don't know about this particular offer. But, I do know about 2 other offers, as yesterday I received 2 premier offers.F2P. Free cabin (only insides, but no single supplements). The one in April is for 22 days from Brisbane to Seattle, and the other is for 30 days days from Seattle to  Brisbane via Alaska, Japan, Philipines.

@urbanhawkIt’s my understanding that, pre-Covid, the cruise line would fly you to the first port to catch the cruise if you booked airfare through the cruise line.

I did not know that. I only recently explored the possibilities with Fly2Fun. Some fares were cheaper, and some were higher. I always would book the flights myself. Thanks for pointing this out.

I was speaking under "normal" circumstances (not Covid).  I believe part of the Fly2fun guarantee is they would fly you to "meet" the ship if you missed boarding.

I really don't understand how they could do this-if my flight was booked thru Fly2fun, and I missed making it to the cruise port for my 23 day T/P cruise, would they fly me to the 1st port of call (Hawaii) 4-5 days later?? Maybe, they could put me on a helicopter, and fly me to the ship?😉 (Talk about making an entrance!😁)

  5. That is a great deal. The balconies  "may" be capacity controlled. If all booked, I believe you may be able to book, an ocean view-not as sweet a deal as a balcony, but for myself,  I'd book it. Hope it works out for the O.P.

  6. I cannot speak for anyone else, but for me, it works, as I am very prone to motion sickness.  I use meclizine (generic bonine), and ginger capsules. Both of these are otc, so no rx needed. I don't  use dramamine, because it makes me sleepy. . I start a day or 2 before the cruise starts. Meclizine in the a.m., and the ginger capsules at mealtimes.  I have never had any ill effects, even after having 2-3  adult beverages a day. Always talk to a medical professional 1st. And have a happy (barf-free) cruise!😇

Valid question - but did it occur to you to also wonder who (if anyone) would take care of housing and feeding you for those 4-5 days (and at what quality level - if someone did pick up the tab)?

Again - do not think of “Flying in on day of cruise” (theme of this thread) as being anything other than stupid.

Yes, it did occur to me, so again, just WHO?! I know nobody would. I was actually being sarcastic.😉

I agree with you, and many others,  not to fly in day of cruise. Even for cruising out of Long Beach,  and flying in from Tucson, which is only an hour flight, I would fly in the day before..  Especially, in this day and age...of uncertainty.

  8. If  I booked my flights thru the cruise line, and missed getting to the cruise port on time, just WHO  would assist  me in getting to the next (1st) port of call, which would be Hawaii,  in 4-5days , after leaving Seattle, for a 23 day TP  cruise? (rhetorical question!)

Carnival - Free suite + $2500 funplay, free airport trans or parking , wifi for 2, drinks everywhere on board for 2, platinum for 2 for that sailing, gifts in cabin, treats in cabin, early room access, priority embark/debark, waived room service charges, free excursion for 2, etc. (USA based cruises)

Same offer as above with $4000 AUD (for Australia based cruises).

That was a  great deal! Just out of curiosity, did you win much/any with the funplay? Thanks.

  10. The good, the bad, and the ugly of it:

I am booked on the Splendor, which will be my 12th cruise on Carnival, but my 1st time on this ship. My  "fare", traveling solo  was a $400 nonrefunable deposit, which is then given back as obc. I only had to pay the taxes/port fees, of less than $200. The cruise is a 23 day transpacific  from Seattle to Sydney, departing in Sept. I have a balcony on the lido deck, and  will have $2000 in funplay.  Of course I'll have other expenses ie:flights, hotels, etc. This is the good. I haven't been on a cruise in 8 years, which is the bad. Spoiler alert:here comes the ugly. Due to some unforeseen/unfortunate circumstances,  I may have to cancel, if things don't turn themselves around in next week or so. Ugly enough?!

  11. One never knows-climate is what we can predict, but weather is what we get!  My last cruise to Alaska was 8 years ago, just after Labor Day. I remember it rained in Juneau and Skagway, but was sunny in Ketchikan-go figure, as it is the rainiest place in S.E. Alaska!   Even living in AZ., , I did not find it cold. I would do this cruise again, even if it would be the same weather pattern. Who knows, the whole cruise could be filled with sunny days.

I think "one time" is the important part to note 😃   One time out of three seasons is not too bad!  I imagine you saw them other times, but it was bad just that one time?

Too funny. Thanks for the laugh!😂!!!! And, "one other time"😉, some friends and I were wading in some ponds outside the park, and we quickly found out, that there were leeches in Alaska-who would have thunk?!
