Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. nice video. hope to see more once you have chance to create a complete one. which iceberg did you guys pass by? Just curious. Seems to be large.
  2. Overall the cruise line is good and will definitely try to take another cruise with them, destination unknown, maybe greek isles or arctic. Just don't have too much expectation so you won't be disappointed. This company's cruise cost is lower than others after all. 🙂 Since this topic is for onboard internet, I'll write something about my trip in the roll call for World Navigator.
  3. To update my own post, I just came back from a wonderful 14-day trip to South Georgia and Antarctica. Even though the printed package that I've received said I get 150 MB per stateroom, in reality, after we board the ship World Navigator, my wife and I actually received an access code for 1 GB each. We've turned off just about everything except necessary apps that we use to keep contact and only turn on wifi to do a quick refresh, reply email, etc. then turn off wifi. I ran out of my data about 4 days before cruise ends. Additional 1 GB is $80, so I didn't bother to buy it.
  4. I know it's an old thread but I've got my pre-cruise package for Nov 6th's and complementary internet is 150 MB now for one device per stateroom and 250 MB for a suite. So, compare to 1 GB, this will go much faster. Make sure to prevent everything from doing background refresh/using wifi except email app and only turn on wifi to check email then turn off.
  5. I have received an email from AOV for my Nov trip and here's the limit: Due to strict airline and destination requirements, the maximum allowed weight for all checked bags is one 50 lb. bag and one carry-on of 22 lbs. per guest.
  6. based on what i see from youtube, the metal bottle is to keep. So it's more useful with insulated bottle for people to take home and advertise the company. I have a bunch of metal( non-insulated) ones but i don't use them, only use insulated one for hot coffee or ice water.
  7. I haven't take the cruise yet so I don't know if the water bottle is doubled walled/insulated or not. Based on the look of it from other people's video, it seems to be a regular one. If that's the case, I'm wondering if AOV will be able to provide something like zojirushi's insulated bottle to guests: https://www.amazon.com/Zojirushi-SM-SA60-BA-Stainless-Steel-20-Ounce/dp/B00HYOGUM2?th=1 The zojirushi bottle is pretty light. It seems to be more useful so people can put ice in there and keep cold water longer when they cruise in hot weather region. There are also a lot of people drink hot water/tea and this bottle would be able to keep the right temperature for a long time. Thanks
  8. Thank you for your reply. If there's no additional outlet there, I'll use the lamp's plug. No need to dig out old pictures. only 90+ days till I see it myself. 🙂
  9. Hi, I'd like to know if there's any spare power outlets near the window in the Horizon stateroom on World Navigator? I've seen pictures of outlets next to bed but I am hoping to be able to charge electronic devices near the window. there's a lamp near window but don't know if that area contain extra power outlet or not. If the answer is yes, what type of connection it takes. If someone has stayed in the Horizon stateroom and know the answer, is it possible to share? Thanks in advance.
  10. great. Will be on World Navigator on Nov 6. looking forward to it. Thank you.
  11. Is AOV using Starlink on their new ships? If not, any plan to install it? Thanks,
  12. Thanks for provide your past experience. I am not sure if my booking have this or not (booked in early july and my TA said i supposed to have it) https://atlasoceanvoyages.com/offers/#AntarcticaImmersions AOV might have modify their shuttle time for this coming season if they squeeze in a free park tour either as a pre or post cruise. I've emailed them to find out the exact time of shuttle departure from ushuaia. They only told me that I have ample time if I depart EZE at 10:30pm. 🙂
  13. I've booked EZE -> DFW the night the cruise end (10:30pm departure). Hopefully shuttle from Ushuaia to EZE arrive way before my departure time.
  14. Hi, I'd like to know if AOV has any plan to add more 14-Day South Georgia and Antarctica itinerary to later in the season such as February or early March? I'm going to take the Nov 6's cruise for the early season and also thinking about in a few years, I want take a late season one to see different wildlife and scenery at both destinations. Thank you.
  15. I saw this thread and got a quote from them for an upcoming trip, about 10%-30% cheaper than other ones listed in some insurance broker website. That's nice. The real question is, has anyone really made a claim and see if they still offer good customer service and give money back w/o hassle? Thanks.
