Hi Everyone,
I am trying to determine which return flight to take home after my Oasis cruise in November. My only two flight options available are 9:45 AM and much later in the day. I would prefer the earlier flight to avoid waiting around most of the day in the FLL airport. I've researched the boards regarding this topic and most of the posts I saw said that it would be doable with self-disembark and so long as we don't fly Southwest. However, many of these posts were from as early as 2010 and I know things change over the years.
What's the problem with Southwest at FLL?

I have been reading a lot of Allure reviews/threads planning for our September cruise and I've noticed a couple of things I want to confirm. 1) On balconies (we have an oceanview balcony) it looks like there is a real dining table so you could eat a meal comfortably out there, 2) there appear to be toiletries in the bathroom (we've only seen these in Jr. Suites before), and 3) muster stations are inside, not the hot cattle call on outside decks All of these sound good, although not show-stoppers by any means….

We love My Time Dining and have chosen it on every cruise since it became available. I have not objection to tips being charged automatically - we have always tipped our servers/steward the recommended amounts plus more for outstanding service.
My major objection: We will have a large OBC on our next cruise (we haven't been able to cruise for a couple of years due to family issues). I would really like to be able to use the OBC for gratuities. Choosing MTD doesn't allow me to do that.

I prioritize cabin location over category so I would disagree with you.
If cabin location didn't matter to most people, the categories would all be the same on each deck for the same size room. And that is not the case.
I agree - location means a lot to me - if not, I wouldn't have asked the question!

Thank you for the quick responses!

We are sailing on Allure in September in a balcony cabin on Deck 6. I am apprehensive about the location - lower on the ship than we usually sail and so many floors from the pool and other public areas. BUT - closer to the restaurants, casino, dining rooms, etc.
Please tell me I'll enjoy the location. DH wants an ocean balcony and the higher decks are SO expensive!

Coupons are electronic and associated with your on board account. You should get a list of coupons on a letter (or the back of a letter) in your stateroom when you check-in.
OP is a first-time RCCL cruiser - no C&A coupons.

We have reservations at the Hyatt Place Fort Lauderdale 17th Street-Convention Center in September. It gets good reviews and is reasonable.

We ate booked on Allure for September. I think we got a decent deal on our balcony cabin at a little over $2000 for both of us. We would, of course, like an upgrade, so I check prices often. I am astounded at the prices for junior and grand suites. A junior suite (which we had and loved on Freedom last year for about $2500) is priced at almost $6000 for this cruise and a Grand Suite is priced at nearly $8000. I understand that it’s all about supply and demand, but why would anybody pay over twice the price for a slightly bigger cabin with a bathtub (and double points, I know), when you could take one or two more cruises for the same $$. I am not criticizing other’s choices – I am just curious…

I clicked on this thread thinking it was going to be a about what salad dressings are available in the MDR.... :D
Me, too!

From FLL - Sorry - I thought that was the only port for Allure - I really try to be specific.
-
Sorry - if search were working, I wouldn't have to ask! On Allure, departing on Sunday 9/14 on Southwest, is an 11:30 flight reasonable? I know things can go wrong, but under normal circumstances, would we make it? I'm only asking because a later flight would cost more and not be a direct flight.

What upcharges, what discussion?

Thank you, everyone - it looks like I chose the right one!

You are fine if you really wanted the one "off of" 17th street. They really need to define this hotels address better because the address is NOT ON 17th street, It is on 10th avenue which runs North/South to 17th St. Everyone seems to think it sits on 17th St & it does not. It's behind and to the west of the Embassy Suites and is a very good location and walkable to many different restaurants and stores. We are staying there also for our pre cruise evening in April.
But that's the problem - I don't know which one I want. I want a reasonable airport and port shuttle, a safe area, and access to restaurants. But it sounds like you have experience with the hotel, so I'll stick with this choice.

Last night I made a reservation at the Hyatt Place "17th Street/Convention Center" for our pre-cruise stay before boarding Allure. A lot of people on TripAdvisor talked about using this hotel pre- and post-cruise.
This morning, when I googled "Hyatt Place Ft. Lauderdale Port" , I got a different location - "Ft. Lauderdale Airport and Cruise Port" in Dania Beach.
Did I make my reservation at the wrong hotel?

Our 9568 JS had 2 loungers, 2 chairs, and a small table. Luv, luv, luv the JS on the Freedom:)
Thanks, Linda - so ours should be the same. Can't wait.
-
Thanks for your help. everyone.
So - do all JS balconies on Freedom class ships have two loungers and a dining sized table like the one in the photos? I'd love to be able to have breakfast on the balcony.
-
Thanks for the photos - that really helps!
Does anyone know about the hot tubs?
-
I tried searching, but didn't find the answers I want.
1) How big are the JS (non-aft) balconies on FOS and what furniture do they have?
2) We are in JS 9558 and it looks like it might be under the cantilevered hot tub. Will there be a problem with that location?

We are taking this cruise on Serenade in November of 2015. When I called yesterday to have our balcony discount applied, they also gave me the 50% off deal for the second passenger. So we're in a D1 for an 11 day cruise for less than $2500.!
It's our first post-retirement cruise and the cruise that takes us to Diamond!
