  1. Just be sure to check your onboard account. We, too, had 1 specialty dining each as part of the promotional package when we booked. It showed on the Medallion app at the top of the Dine My Way page ($29 dining credit each or something like that). When I booked it, it showed $0 charge, but when I checked our account a couple days before the end of the cruise, we suddenly each had a $29 charge. Guest services took it off, marking as a "goodwill credit", even though I could show them the invoice where it was part of a promo package fare.
  2. I had forgotten about bringing wine on at embarkation. Does anyone know if this holds true for embarkation from European ports as well? Would love to bring a bottle of wine aboard when we get on in Rome. Thanks!
  3. We have Samsung Galaxy S21s and Verizon. Verizon told me that we should be able to put phones in airplane mode, then turn Wi-Fi on (on the phones), and then enter the code/password that Princess gives us for using our Wi-Fi package, and it should work. We are not "smart phone- smart" and have only had smartphones for about a year, so we'll see what happens!
  4. When our Sept. 2020 Med. cruise was cancelled, about all that we had already paid was the Princess insurance (and maybe a deposit--can't remember). Anyway, the total amt. we had paid, including the insurance, was refunded by Princess (when we chose a refund rather than FCC).
  5. When we booked several months ago, we had a choice of paying from $1 up as a deposit. I think we paid about half and the rest is due (I think) 10 days before the tours.
  6. Ken the cruiser, Can you tell me what days were Italian night(s) in the main dining room? I realize they might not be the same on our cruise, but we're thinking we might try to make specialty dining reservations for one of the Italian nights and trying to check like this is the only way I can think of (other than trying to find out on embarkation day). Thanks!
  7. Ken the Cruiser. your Istanbul tour sounded great. Did you have enough time in the bazaar to do a little shopping or was it a very brief stop? Thanks!
  8. Thanks for the recommendation, carlmm!
  9. Thank you, euro cruiser. We, too, were sort of thinking about an easy day at the end (almost) of a very busy cruise.
  10. Thanks for your help!

    DIY Genoa

We are thinking we'd just like to get off the Regal Princess in Genoa and walk around. Can anyone tell me if we'll need to get some kind of transportation from wherever the ship docks into town? Is it quite a distance? Are taxis generally available? I've been reading some about the city and it seems pretty walkable. Any assistance and information from someone who's been there fairly recently would be greatly appreciated!
  12. If Tisa's Barefoot Bar is still open on American Samoa, it was a super fun, friendly place with great food and drinks.
  13. Thanks so much for your help! I really appreciate it. Update in progress!
  14. I'm not "Smartphone" smart. I have an Android and have the app installed. I'm not sure how to just get the update. I don't want to make a mistake and lose the dining reservations I was finally able to get. Help?!
  15. Thanks, Hank. Yes, on previous cruises we've avoided ship's tours and usually find private ones. I guess we were a little cautious about Turkey and so opted for a ship excursion. We would never buy from any shop that was part of the tour. There is some free time for a little shopping on our own and that's when we'd buy something, if at all. Good to know that we may be able to use our credit card (which has no foreign exchange fees) for even small purchases. I did know about choosing "local currency", but thank you for the reminder. Pat
  16. We have 2 stops in Turkey on our Med. cruise in Sept. and are wondering about currency for souvenirs, etc. Probably won't spend much, but want to be able to buy a few inexpensive things in a bazaar or shop, so are wondering whether we need to have some Turkish currency. We are booked on ship's tours, so can't plan on an ATM stop. Anybody with recent experience?
  17. We have a ship excursion booked for Knossos when our ship is docked at Heraklion in September. The tour info says we will be dropped off for "some free time" in Heraklion, then re-board the bus for return to the ship. We want to visit the museum in Heraklion. If we want to spend extra time there, is it possible to skip the bus and walk back to the ship, or would we need to get a taxi? And, if so, is that hard to do? We have no idea what distance is involved.
  18. I realize things can change often (and quickly) but am just wondering whether anyone knows about Gibraltar in terms of excursions. Do they allow private ones or on-your-own walking around, or are ship excursions required?
