  1. After speaking to the representative last night, I was told that he needed to have the supervisor handle the removal of erroneous charge and I would receive a new correct confirmation today. So far, I've not received anything and my online X account still shows the higher price. We are traveling with friends who also received a 2nd higher invoice than what was agreed. They called X this morning as well and the rep told them that it could not be removed until final payment.

  2. GeorgiaPeach51, Very much enjoying your review! Thank you! We just booked the Apex 10/22/20 crossing yesterday, so I'm caught up in the excitement of planning and researching all things Edge class and this is the perfect live review to keep me entertained :). We did not book an IV balcony, but instead just the little porthole balcony, of which - I think there are only a few. The #1 reason was that the "porthole" balcony was $1000 + less expensive than an obstructed IV on deck 6. If the price drops, we may consider. If you happen to score a peek into one of these style cabins - let me know! 🙂

I always ask the Celebrity rep on the phone to hold on until I receive the emailed copy- usually within 30 sec or so.  Then I open it and review it for accuracy. They usually agree to do this no problem.

Same - and we did so in this instance as well, but after hanging up the phone, I received the new invoice with the higher price. This has never happened to me before so felt compelled to call and confirm it was a typical X - IT "oopsie". Of course, that resulted in 50 minutes of my life I'll never get back..........

  4. I have tried and spent time on the phone with celebrity regarding the very same issue. Unless something has changed recently, there is no way to do it. Not even over the phone.

I suggest just booking separately and then once on board, check with the Maitre D'. We just did this recently on the Summit with a party of 9 and 4 different reservation numbers.

  5. Called X today to book the Apex transatlantic cruise, October 22, 2020. Super psyched about the ship and itinerary and with the 4 perk sale bonus... a no brainer!

The rep outlined the total price and asked me to review the invoice that was emailed to me to confirm all was copacetic. We reviewed the confirmation together over the phone and I assumed all was good to go. Hung up the phone, and 5 minutes later, I received a 2nd invoice that was $406 more than what I had paid a $900 non refundable deposit for. Trying to contact X now.... So far, I've been on hold for 26 minutes waiting to speak to someone.

Perhaps but I was allowed to cancel my earlier booking (prior to the final payment date) and then rebooked it.  Did this direct with Celebrity and no issues.

    Ah gotcha!

So far, for all the desired itineraries I've researched, I'm not getting the 4 perks options, even though the little gold hexagon box on the literary listed says "4 perks included".

I was on the X website earlier today and noticed this.  Repriced my current cruise (03/07/19 Equinox) and was pleasantly surprised.  I went from a SV with 2 perks to a Concierge AFT with 4 perks and saved about $300.  When you add in the prepaid grats and bump to premium drink it worked out to over $600 saved.

I went from a refundable deposit to a non-refundable but given my final payment date is less than a month away that wasn't a concern.  Could have saved a few more $ by sticking with the SV cabin but thought I'd take advantage of the sale to move up.

Nice to see an actual sale for a change.

I thought the fine print said it was limited to new bookings only?

Can you book refundable without any perks?

One can assume that the "no perks" was with a refundable deposit. It did not say "non refundable deposit" but on option two - the more expensive option, it says "refundable". So who knows.

I choose 2 perks Gratuities and OBC, and purchase in my cruise planner the Beverage pack

But the point is - option two is still far more expensive than the value of perks that are being added in. It's not a deal - unless the purchaser is placing an unknown "value" of the refundable deposit.

Did you add the $14/per person per/day to the beverage package price?  I came up with $1,696, $280 more than you.

I did, option 2 includes the additional $280 for the classic beverage package.

Would someone choose this? Is the refundable deposit option worth THAT much more?

  11. Yes, this is another "I don't get the pricing structure" post. Not posting for clarification on anything, just more or less to commiserate. So, I ran pricing for a 10-night cruise on the Equinox May 13, 2020. After choosing a veranda guarantee, I priced out the two options:

Option 1: $1540pp ($1409 + $131 taxes/fees pp), non refundable deposit, no "perks". Total cost for two including taxes = $3,080. (*bonus offer, $100pp OBC)

Option 2: $2381pp ($2250 + $131 in taxes/fees pp), refundable deposit, choose two "perks" - of which, I chose the classic drink package and $300 obc. CDP "perk" is additional $280. Total for two cost including taxes  = $5,042.

That's a difference of $1,962 in hard costs. If I were to purchase the CDP outright for two persons - the total cost including gratuity is $1,416.
So essentially - the purchaser is overpaying for the "perks" option by $546 - or $246 depending on if you add in the value of the $300 obc.

Perhaps I am asking for clarification (??) because this seems downright ridiculous.

  12. I haven't really paid attention to the elite plus / captains club benefits since our last cruise in January, but looked at the list of benefits today and see that the 240 minutes of internet is no longer listed? Has this been nixed?

*edited to note that the aforementioned list I am referring to was on the X mobile site.

Just called Captain's Club, and the rep. confirmed that smoothies from the Aqua Spa Cafe ARE included in the Premium (alcohol) beverage package (PAL). No change from my recent experience on Edge. She said anyone who is denied smoothies should contact Captain's Club directly and any smoothie charges will be refunded.

    Thanks for the reconnaissance 🙂
I love the detox blend and usually get one a day... for all the detoxing I need of course 🙂

Ok, the retorts about percentage sales growth are just ridiculous. And as usual, doesn't answer the question. Seriously, why even respond?

All I know is that every party or BBQ that I've been to over the past year, the majority now bring spiked seltzers. So I'd be surprised if we don't see it soon. I want it on my next cruise!

PS - my family owns an old neighborhood "shot n beer" bar. We don't even take credit cards but we've had Truly for a while now and it sells.

My brother is a miller lite kind of shot n beer guy...always has been... and even he likes the spiked seltzers!

Some of us were reacting to your original post: Spiked seltzer has become quite popular as of late, so much so, that it's surpassed craft beer sales.

Being from "Beer City USA" (Asheville NC) I would be MORE than happy to see spiked seltzer overtake craft beer (though it will not happen in the next 5-10 years).  It would keep the millions and millions of beer tourists away from Asheville that clog the roads, make hotel prices $400 plus per night and make reservations at favored restaurants on the weekends nigh impossible. 🍺🥺

Perhaps I should have said "spiked seltzer has made a dent in craft beer sales in recent months - and the craft beer industry is taking note".

As I mentioned, I LOVE craft beer - and live just "down the road" in Charlotte, which also has a huge beer scene, (and went to school at WCU!), so certainly no stranger to the popularity of the craft in our state, and nationwide. Buuuuttt... the craft beers pack on the pounds, so the spiked seltzers are a nice "day drink" with low cals and not a lot of sugar.
