  1. If you can't purchase or upgrade during the last or second to last day of the cruise, is the only option to purchase on the first day of a 3-night cruise? We haven't sailed w/o a drink package since 2013 and in all cases, the package was part of a booking bonus so this is our first time actually having to pay for it!

I am sure I can live with classic, but have gotten so used to premium!

  2. I just logged into my cruiseplanner for two upcoming cruises this month, under both reservations - there was a "10% off" banner on the icon to purchase drink packages, however, when adding to the cart, it states that price shown reflects discount. The price shown is the standard $69pp per day for the premium package. Celebrity IT strikes again or have the package prices increased again? Anyone else experience the same issue?

  3. It's been quite a while since I've done a 3-night cruise ... but as short as it may be, It's better than a zero night cruise!

Question - we're thinking we will just purchase the classic package vs. premium this go round, but what if say, on the last day of the cruise I want to upgrade, is that allowed?

  4. Sent a screen shot. The first representative could not clarify or change the charge. Our issue was eventually escalated, where the situation was rectified. Seems the black Friday/Cyber Monday deals are throwing the Celebrity IT teams into orbit. At the end of the day, the customer service reps don't have anything to do with the online issues, so I am happy to report that it was fixed, but be aware folks.

  5. Decided to take advantage of a great last minute deal for a 3 day weekend cruise. Booked online, followed all the steps to the payment screen... payment total presented at the check out page - paid the full amount quoted/asked due as the cruise is in just 13 days. Payment processed. Then I get notification that $60 additional is due. Logged into my celebrity account - $60 additional is due. Call captains club - $60 additional due. Captains club cannot clarify the additional erroneous charge, just that the additional $60 is due. We are now at 30 minutes and counting on the phone. Not a good business practice at all.

  6. Thank you for the info! We have done lots of cruises with Celebrity and will be sailing the Infinity on New Years Eve (our 1st time on Infinity, though we have sailed her sister ship, the Summit many times). We're traveling with my brother, sister-in-law and niece for my SIL's 50th birthday. They have never sailed with X before - I'm hoping they enjoy it as much as we do! I've made a point to check out libations - and agree with you re: the premium vs. classic. We haven't sailed without it in years :).

When we book a cruise on Celebrity,  our TA always comps us dinner for two at the Tuscan Grill.  We will be sailing on Equinox next May, and she will comp us again fo dinmer at the Tuscan Grill.

Of course,  you don’t have to dine at any of the specialty restaurants if you choose not to do so.  Because of cuisine or cost.:classic_wink:    But, it is well worth the extra cost, IMHO.   YMMV.

You say it is well worth the cost, however; you aren't paying for it since your TA comped for you 😉?
Obviously, it goes without saying, that one can choose to dine @ the specialty restaurants or not - but there does come a point when the cost is greater than the experience - for me, anyway.

On a separate note, perhaps the fee is greater due to the New Year holiday. When I log into the cruise planner for our China/Korea/Japan cruise (sail date Oct. 2019), the fee is listed as "starting at $30."

  8. Just got of the Summit October 27th sailing and the fee to dine in Tuscan was $45. I just logged into my celebrity account to explore my "cruise" planner for our upcoming sailing on the Infinity on 12/31 - when I opt to view specialty dining selections, it says Tuscan Grille pricing "starting at $60". You MUST be kidding??!

  9. Hello all - it's been a while since we've sailed on an "M" class ship, our past three cruises were on Solstice, Reflection & Equinox. We are sailing on the Summit in October and I have just a few questions:

    1) any recent feedback on Luminae - specifically on the Summit?

    2) Do they still over the "Taste of Film" food/movie pairings on the rooftop terrace?

Any other recent reviews, etc - would be much appreciated!

  10. But the pics are from a week ago. I'm not saying they're not in bad shape but look for something more current if it's available.

As I said in an earlier post... every single solitary bar that was once on Orient Beach was completely wiped away. Waikiki - gone, La Playa - gone, Bikini - gone, Kakao - gone, Kon Tiki - gone, Sun beach clubber, Aloha, Orange Fever, Le String, Chez Leandra, Pedro's, The Perch - all of them, gone. There are military tents and trucks lined along the beach - it's not any better this week than last. Maybe some debris has been moved aside... but it's bad. Very bad.

  11. I think this is a much better assessment than a lot of the "hey, everything is roaring back, no problem" memes.

Yes, there will be many pockets of differences in recovery, but to think that all will rapidly return to the island paradise that it was a couple of weeks ago is folly. Lived through 5 hurricanes between Cat. 1 and Cat. 4 and it is much more difficult than many think.

We have a trip booked to SXM for May 2018, as hopeful as I am that we'll be able to return - the truth is ... no one knows the scope of the devastation except for those living it. As for Orient Beach - NOT ONE - single solitary beach bar on Orient survived the storm. We're not talking damaged - we're talking gone as if they were never there.

  12. Haven't heard much new about Orient Beach. Does anyone have pertinent information? Thanks.

We have spent over 75 nights over the last 9 years vacationing on SXM. To say we love it, specifically the French side and Orient Beach, is an understatement. Through various closed St. Martin FB groups that I belong to - it's quite evident that the situation on Orient is dire.... this article may give you an idea.

  13. We are on the 2-18 cruise of the same itinerary with our friends. Thanks for the PR ideas as we have previously traveled with kids and this time looking for "adult" fun! We have never been to St Kitts and you mentioned a beach. Was it full service with chairs an food/drinks?

    Thanks.

Sent from my iPad using Forums

Yes, Cockleshell Beach - there are quite a few places where you can rent chairs and get drinks, etc. Great view of Nevis, too!

  14. We just did self disembarkation (from Reflection) last Saturday, we were off the ship and in an uber on our way to FLL by 7:20am. We were at our hotel in FLL at 8:30am... that was even with a few wrong turns by our uber driver, we should have been there by 8am. So - it can be done.

  15. I've read some recent reviews about the bars being really crowded, with long lines, etc.

What were your experiences/observations with this? Were some bars less busy than others?

    Thanks in advance!

    Sailing Jan 2017

Our sailing was completely sold out, and we did not experience this at all. Perhaps a 5 minute wait (at most) at even the more crowded spots like the Martini bar or the Sunset bar (at sunset). Overall, I was actually quite impressed with the speediness of service in all of the venues.
