  1. We're cruising on Adventure on 1st September. If the topless deck is in operation, we will try to get a photo (of the sign, not the topless sunbathers!:p). It may not be an issue since our cruise is to Iceland and Norway, and probably a bit chilly for any sunbathing, let alone the topless sort.

Did this cruise this year [2013] and believe me it was hot enough to sunbathe topless or otherwise.

One officer commented he thought he was in the Caribbean it was so nice.

  2. Some cruise friends of ours had a medical emergency and one of them was hospitalised in Norway.

They had Royals insurance package and RCI were wonderful, arranged everything including a member of staff to stay with them for the first 5 days until the needed operation so do not discount Royals insurance deals.

They told us what the cost would have been if they had to pay for everything and it was huge specially the air ambulance needed to bring them home when fit to travel.

  3. Just an FYI, but your complimentary cruise is a 7 night Caribbean cruise and it "can not be" on the Oasis or Allure which, depending on the time of year, limits your choices in vessels.

    You're welcome.:)

no longer true as there are now many Pinnacles in Europe so they allowed them to take the cost of a 7 day balcony rate off any next cruise booked.

  4. off tomorrow for all EU cruise on Serenade, will post on what is happening on our return if that is not too late for you.

On our recent Adventure cruise there was no bottles of alcohol or cigarettes on sale in Shops on board and the ship had notices to say they were paying the VAT themselves on other purchases.

Also shops dockside in the ports we visited said you had to pay the extra VAT when making a purchase of alcohol and cigarettes to take back onboard.

  5. Just had an email from RC:

On 21st November 2013 there will be a big announcement "that will be music to your ears".

Massive hint that the announcement will concern Anthem being based in Southampton.

But we still need to go to Guatamala to be able to deal with RCI office, give me the old system anytime never mind a new ship which quite frankly is not new news,we were told ages ago the purpose of the new Sunshine breed of ships makes them ideal for sailing in Europe all year round.

After all the Indie was originally launched and based in Southampton.

  6. I understand where the op is coming from but if you think about somewhere like the Windjammer then a lot of food is eaten with your hands when you get to the table.

I cannot eat a danish pastry with a knife and fork so what do I do if I return for something else and use the tongs with hands that have now been near my lips?

Also once tried eating that crispy american bacon with utensils and woops shattered everywhere.Same with chappatis.

  7. Linda, the Alice story is a bit long and boring for those not involved, enough to say Cuddy and Keiron Buffery got bored on a Navigator TA and had fun with an inflatable Kangaroo used to promote the little Alice wine bottles.

She was in the Windjammer and got kidnapped.

There followed days of searching, she was seen riding the lifts, a group of Canadian mounties joined in to mount a rescue , and she was seen under the Captains table, where some droppings were discovered.

Cuddy will know who told you about her as he and Keiron were seen on their breakfast show sampling said droppings and saying well the sure aint Koala.

[They were actualy cocoa pops but please dont let on.]
