  1. When Carnival Spirit first came to Australia, they advertised it as a family cruise and accentuated the waterslide - apparently there were around a Million children on the first cruise 🙂 - so I put it into my "never sail on this ship" ever file. Then a couple of years later we chose to go on her for some complicated reasons - and had a great time. 🙂 But the décor !!! - my eyes still hurt!
  2. The video tells me that the décor of Luminosa is going to be easier on the eyes than that of Spirit (which was akin to a psychedelic nightmare)
  3. We were very badly burned over our fully paid up cruises early 2020 ( totalling $30,000) . Took a LONG time to receive refunds and also for a long time during 2020 they were indeed asking for final payments for upcoming cruises which it was obvious were not going to happen. I am VERY cynical of the cruiselines and have come to believe/understand that their complete system is nothing more than a giant Ponzi scheme. We will cruise again - but our cynicism compels us to wait and see how their current "plans" pan out.
  4. They were delaying cancelling the cruises until the last minute even though it was plainly obvious that the cruises would not be proceeding. If they cancelled the cruise, then they were obliged to refund you - but if YOU cancel the cruise, read up your cruise contract as to your obligations. The same situation applies now with the planned cruises to PNG.
  5. They are still operating from the same playbook that they used in 2020 - if they cancel the cruise, then they owe you - better for you to cancel the cruise and then you owe them!!!
  6. If anybody is thinking of going to my local GP clinic to get some kind of Covid certificate to go to a party/cruise - then forget it!!! The clinic is full to the rafters of sick people - the Doctors don't have the time for such things and as I said , the place is currently FULL of SICK people .
  7. My wife and I have not stopped coughing for the past 2 months - but we have not had Covid.
  8. Looks like the myth or overstated statement that P&O charge for "everything" has been adequately deconstructed here.
  9. I was in the Navy for a while. My personal rules are ; Don't sail south of Brisbane in Winter. Don't sail north of Brisbane in Summer, don't sail across the Tasman in Spring and don't sail East to West across the Bight in any season. I know there will be some replies to these Rules saying something like " I did it - no problems". I would like to tell them that many times I have walked across a road against the red pedestrian light - and I have also always got away with it - so far!!!
  10. I have read here about the things that P&O AUD charge as "extras" - I guess when compared to other cruiselines?. I have previously done lots of P&O cruises - and Cunard, Princess, RCL, NCL cruises - but I can't really recall anything that I had to pay extra for (except for the optional restaurants). Can somebody kindly tell me what P&O are charging extra for things that other cruiselines aren't . PS I don't eat much icecream so no need to mention that
  11. That's because the only way you get Covid now is to have a test.
  12. Well , for a start Coral Princess plus Pacific Encounter (ex Star Princess) plus I am sure other ships which others here will tell us about - even if there are no others Coral and ex-Star are a massive increase in capacity over tiny Dawnie ( and Pacific Sun before her) . How are they going to fill them???
  13. While watching the 50's film about Cunard Queen Elizabeth earlier today, I noticed that the narrator called Cunard - "Quenard" . I tend to say "Koonard" and I have heard it called "Knard) Any thoughts?? Barry
