  1. Hello everyone. I realize i have not posted in a few days. Yesterday and today I have been so tired. i think it was from all the driving. I did most of it. On Friday night we stayed in Lumberton, NC in a Springhill Suites. I will never stay in one of those again. It was the most uncomfortable place I ever stayed in. We have stayed in others, but this one was just not good. I think I am still recovering from the trip. Hope everyone is doing okay. Prayers for all that need them God bless and Good night, Terri
  2. I’m just checking in. We are home after two days of driving. I have days of posts to read. Thank you all for your well wishes while we were away. I promise to catch up tomorrow and do a real post. Really tired and happy to be sleeping in my own bed tonight. God bless, Terri
  3. Just checking in to say we had a great time in Williamsburg. We were happy to visit our friends. It was nice to see them after almost two years when they moved away. Tonight we are in Lumberton, NC and will be home tomorrow. It was a long drive. Don’t know if I have it in me to do it again. God bless. Terri
  4. I had CTS in both wrists. In all honesty, on the left it was done along with ulcer nerve repositioning. That was major surgery. The doc did the CTS because it was about time rather than do it later. On the right hand it was done a few years later. It was pretty easy. I had my hand wrapped for a few days, did some PT and it was over. However, now I am back to the beginning and need it done again. I have a lot of pain in both hands and cannot keep getting steroid injections. i will need to see the hand surgeon to set this up. Have an appointment on Aug. 4. Terri
  5. Some photos of Valletta, Malta. A beautiful sail-in. St John’s Co-Cathedral.
  6. Good morning everyone. I am up early and thought I would post before the day gets ahead of me. Thank you Rich for the Fleet report and the Daily. I like all three days. Ice Cream Sodas—I like them and used to drink them. However, I no longer drink carbonated beverages so I have not had an Ice Cream Soda in a long time. Hot Dogs—Like them but don’t eat them often. Lollipops—Like them but haven’t eaten on in a while. I like the quote. I read quite a bit these days and always enjoy a good book. Will pass on the meal since I do not eat peppers. Also a pass on the drink of the day. We will see about the wine. We have been to Valletta at least twice. I do know that the first time was when I had the DVT in my leg and didn’t know it. I really do not remember what happened to the photos from that trip since I ended up in the hospital after it. I was there at least one other time. If I have time later and the photos are on my Ipad I will post some. Valletta is a beautiful sail-in and a beautiful city. Thank you to Roy for the lists. Prayers for all who are ill and especially those with Covid or dealing with its after effects. Not fun! Cheers to those celebrating and cruising. We are ready to have breakfast and then head over to see our friends. A drive on the Colonial Parkway is on the agenda for today and dinner tonight. Not sure what else. Will report back later if I have the opportunity. Have a wonderful day. Stay cool and stay safe. God Bless, Terri
  7. Good evening everyone, Sorry I am posting so late. Had somewhat of a busy day. I got to spend a good part of the day with my friend Janet. We left the men to their own devices and just enjoyed each other’s company. It has been almost 2 years. We went to lunch and brought back half for the men. They enjoyed the left overs. We were supposed to go out to the botanical gardens today but it was too hot, therefore the change in plans. It was a lovely day. i just read through all the posts. So many sad stories today. You are all in my prayers. No one should feel that they post too much. If you want to post, then, by all means do so. That’s why we are here. I have had a long day. Prayers for all and Cheers to those celebrating. Take care and God Bless, Good night, Terri
  8. Hi Sandi, I was of the impression that compression stockings were to be used for prolonged sitting or standing and not for overnight use. I am no doctor but was told to use them during the day and for long trips. you may want to check with your doctor before wearing them to bed. Terri
  9. Hello everyone, It is now almost 11 pm EDT and I am finally getting around to posting. It was a long day. We drove from Rocky Mount, Checked into to our hotel. Did not want to stay with our friends. They have a small house and their spare bedroom is upstairs. I cannot climb stairs with my bad knee. So we are staying at a Marriott Vacation Club nearby. We have a lovely one-bedroom villa complete with a jacuzzi and kitchen, etc. Very comfortable. After checking in and getting settled we went over to visit and had a lovely dinner with them. Then they took us on a mini tour of the area. We made plans for the rest of the week. I am very tired and on my way to bed, but did want to check in and say hi. I read through all the posts and am happy to look at all the photos. Have not been to the port. Have no kids to hug. Not a fan of guacamole. But I am a good listener. As for sour candy, take it or leave it. Like the quote. Prayers for all on the cares list and cheers to those celebrating. Good night from Colonial Williamsburg. More tomorrow. God Bless, Terri
  10. I had a similar story. I flew to Rome, got on a cruise for 22 days. Leg was swollen and just ignored it. When we got home I went to the Urgent Care and instead of doing an ultrasound they did a D-Dimer and misread the results. A few days later I was unable to catch my breath and ended up in the ER and subsequently admitted to the hospital with 2 clots in each lung due to a DVT in the left leg. I always wear compression stockings since that time. Whether driving or flying. Not worth taking the chance. Every doctor I saw who looked at the CT scan would just shake their head and say I was lucky to be alive. Moral of the story — wear your compression stockings on long trips. Terri
  11. Good evening from Rocky Mount, NC. We had an uneventful drive, thank God from our home in Bluffton, SC. We had a few downpours but then the sun came out and the traffic was pretty good on I-95 for most of the way. There was a good bit of construction in NC. It took us 5 hours to get here and tomorrow we only have 2 1/2 hours drive. In retrospect, we should have planned better and stopped half way and made the driving shorter today. We ate at the Outback. This is not my favorite place to eat and this meal certainly did not change my mind. We will find another place on the way home. The good news is that we were upgraded to a suite at the hotel. It’s not super luxurious. We’re staying at a Courtyard by Marriott. Anyway, we are grateful for the extra space. I did most of the driving and DH did most of the sleeping. So I am a bit tired tonight. So with that I will say Good night and God Bless. Terri
  12. Glad you’re having a good time. Enjoy every minute and please stay safe. Terri
  13. Make sure you wear compression stockings whether flying or driving. Very important. Terri
  14. Sandi, hope you’re feeling better this morning. i woke up with lots of aches and pains. I will see what our hosts have planned for us. However, your suggestion sounds wonderful. Thanks for the suggestion. We were in Williamsburg many moons ago when we spent a vacation in Virginia Beach. On the way back to NY (our hometown then) we stopped in Yorktown. So maybe we did the Colonial Parkway. Not sure. We also stopped at a number of battlefields on that trip. The trade off was that we would stop in Reading PA so that I could go Outlet Shopping. So guess who bought the place out? DH. It was a fun two weeks. This time it will be a bit different. Hope you feel better. Terri
  15. Good morning. Thank you to Rich for the Fleet Report and Daily and to Roy for the list. This is going to be short and sweet as we are going to have breakfast soon and get ready to hit the road. YAY! Prayers for those on the cares list, especially for those recently departed and condolences to the families of @rafinmdand @StLouisCruisers Also @StLouisCruisershope your leg is feeling better today. Prayers for those who have not been in touch for a while. Hope they are doing okay. @dfishHope you are enjoying your cruise. @smitty34877Welcome home and hope Tana is doing okay @marshhawkprayers for your DH as he undergoes biopsy. And prayers for everyone else who needs them. @dobiemom Welcome home. Hope you had a great cruise. Good collection of days. I love Ice Cream. Especially Sea Salt Caramel—my newest favorite. Wrong way Corrigan—Well, sometimes going the wrong way helps you discover new and interesting places. Emojis—I’m not real good at them. Always trying to figure out what they mean. Love the quote. The meal looks good, but we will be eating out today on our way to Williamsburg. The wine looks good and the price is right Have not been to the port. Cheers to all those celebrating, vacationing and cruising. Enjoy and stay safe. Please pray that we have a safe drive to Virginia. Have a great Sunday everyone and and God Bless, Terri
  16. Good evening. I am late to the game again. However I did want to check in and say hi to everyone. As for the days I love spinach, but keep my distance from snakes. I remember the “woodie wagons” but not sure I ever rode in one. The meal and the wine both sound good. It was a busy Saturday. Since we are leaving for Williamsburg tomorrow I had to move up my appointment to get my nails done. So that took some time. I also decided to fill up the car and spend a fortune doing that. Bought a house gift for our hosts. Then I came home. Expected to get my packing done. However, DH lost something and we spent a good part of the afternoon looking for some thing that was never found. God only knows where he put it. this is nothing new. Finally am all packed except for the last minute stuff tomorrow and then off we go. @StLouisCruisers i had the same pain behind my knee for the longest time after I had Covid. It finally left me. I have no idea what it was but it was also keeping me awake at night. I found that Tylenol helped somewhat and Voltaren. Also elevating my legs. I think you just have to let it run its course. I hope it gets better soon. We are going half way tomorrow and stopping in Rocky Mount, NC. We will then continue to Williamsburg on Monday. Just don’t want to do 8 hours of driving in one day. Will post when i am able. Hope everyone had a good day today. God Bless. Terri
  17. I received a refund. Not sure if that is still in effect. Read the FAQs. Under “Onboard” and then “Health Considerations”. First question answers your questions. Terri
  18. Good morning, Thank you to Rich and Roy for the lists. Today proves to be another rainy day here in the Low Country of South Carolina. However, Jim and I are going to escape this soggy and humid weather next week. We are getting ready to take a short trip up to Williamsburg, VA to visit some friends. To be fair we took Covid tests last night and we both tested negative. We did it early because, if we tested positive, we would have had to cancel hotel reservations. Thankfully we don’t have to do that. Happy to get a change of scenery for a few days. Really looking forward to seeing our friends and catching up. Today’s days are a nice collection. While we don’t have a dog, I think it is important that they are kept safe when there is a fire. I do respect Canada as our northern neighbor and also i respect all Canadians. We became friends with many Canadians while we owned a timeshare in Barbados and still keep in touch with some of them. I’m always giving something away. Have another box ready to go to the Thrift shop and to the Self Help Store. I like the first part of the quote but am confused by the second part. Maybe it is taken out of context. I will skip the meal. I have no idea what it is. The wine looks good, hope the price is right The drink sounds good as well. I have never been to kangaroo islands. Prayers for all on the cares list and cheers to all celebrating. @Vict0riannI hope Pat gets his luggage soon. Good luck. We had a problem like that in Berlin a few years ago. Both our bags did not appear on the carousel. They showed up on the next flight and were just stored in the luggage room. However, British Airways sent me a text that they would be on the next flight to Nairobi, Kenya. I was livid. After hours on the phone, the bags were finally located. We went back to the Berlin Airport to join hundreds of other people looking for their luggage. Two hours later, our bags emerged. Don’t know what would have happened had we not gone back to the airport. RIP for Buddy and Nora Brown and prayers for the family members they leave behind. Prayers for those with Covid and all those who are having health issues. Have a great Friday and stay safe. God Bless, Terri
  19. Sorry I’m late to this, but Happy Birthday to your DH. Terri
  20. Welcome to Cruise Critic. Most of us are more welcoming and gentler in our posts. Especially to new posters. You do not look like an idiot. We have all been first posters and others should understand that. Feel free to ask as many questions as you need to. There are plenty people here willing to help. Terri
  21. That is giving her too much credit. However, I must say he is a good dentist. However, if I ever need another root canal (God forbid) I will ask my dentist to send me elsewhere. Terri
  22. They do not test unless you report that you have symptoms. The other reason for testing would be if a certain port of call requires testing. I am not sure if they are still testing on back 2 back cruises. It may depend where the turnaround port is. They will no longer test passengers returning to the US by plane since this is no longer a requirement.. if someone does not show symptoms and is not aware they have Covid, Oceania would not know of that person unless testing was required because of a requirement in a port of call or a back2back. That is what happened on the Nautica and I think is how I picked up the virus. At the end of the first cruise there were quite a few people who were leaving the ship and flying back to the US who tested positive. They were either not aware they were positive or declined to report symptoms. They then had to quarantine in a hotel in Lisbon rather than fly home. At this point if they were flying to the US, they would not be required to be tested and they would just walk around the ship infecting others. Terri
  23. It depends on the ship. There was never a tray or cart outside our door. We were in a PH on the Nautica. The only time there was a cart or trolley was when we ordered meals. Then the cart would leave and come back when we called to have the dishes removed. Otherwise, the outside of our room looked like any other room. Terri
