Agree...Alan is one of the best.   Never sits still, always working the room and helping out in the DL with anything that is needed.  Very pleasant and welcoming.  He used to be in the CL, but moved to the DL...which is nice since we prefer that lounge to the CL on Rhapsody.  🙂

Alan is amazing.  We just did two weeks on Rhapsody with him.  Looking forward to seeing him again in August.

If you think you are just booking a normal RCI cruise on Quantum out East think again, pretty much everything is different,no Johnny Rockets,no Wonderland,Hot Pots where Solarium Bistro should be,Chinese specials in the pub, menus & prices that are not only totally different to a normal RCI cruise but almost impossible to get info about from the cruise line.

We are sailing on Quantum in October on it's repo cruise from China to Singapore, finding out pretty much anything about what life is like on board has been like getting blood out of a stone, made easier by some very helpful posters, these are very different cruises!

We are also on this repo cruise with you and the one before around Japan - it’s going to be interesting!!

Hadley,we too are on the relocation cruise from China to Singapore in October, soon after we booked I began to read reviews which were a tad alarming & began to think that all was not what it seemed with Quantums' cruises out East, slowly but surely I began to find out things which largely explained the complaints I had seen, obviously from people who were expecting your regular RCI cruise & got a bit of a shock,RCI themselves didn't help much though with the cruise planner giving no clue that things were different on these cruises, that has changed as time went by,Wonderland has gone from the planner, all requests I have made to find menus & prices for it have been met by replies from RCI that they don't know, they don't seem to know much that goes on with Quantum it seems!

Thank you so much for your postings, they have been very interesting, informative & helpful,I fully expect that things will be different on our cruise but that is for us to wait & see,one thing I won't be doing though is paying that much for Wonderland or any of the rides if they are the same.

Good luck for the future Hadley, enjoy your travels!

    See you onboard !

I am currently on the Majesty of the Seas and will continue for the next two sailings. I received the Royal Up email today for the third segment. I went by the Next Cruise desk as I had visited them upon boarding and asked what is available. I was told the same thing on both visits - no availability remaining on December 3, so apparently they are also unable to see any inventory being held by the corporate offices. The Next Cruise agent said he had never seen the email I showed him today.

The process looks and works exactly like the NCL bidding game except RCCL contacts at 24 hours in advance of sailing and NCL at 48 hours

I will chat with the Loyalty Ambassador at the cocktail hour tonight to see what they have heard. It is disappointing to see this started on RCCL company ships.

This seems like our cruise on Symphony over Christmas in 3 weeks, received the RoyalUp e mail yesterday offering us to bid on the following categories, we are currently 2 in a JS -

    Grand Suite

    Owners Suite

    1 bedroom Aqua Suite

    2 bedroom Aqua Suite

    Crown Loft Suite

    Star Loft Suite

    4 bedroom Villa Suite

I really don’t believe for one minute that all 7 of these categories are available, on SS website there is one Star Loft showing but not available for 2 passengers. On RCCL website all these categories are sold out.  It seems to me, but I could be wrong, that they are taking the bids in case there is a last minute cancellation then they will accept the highest bid.  Unfortunately if we don’t get accepted we will never know if our bid wasn’t high enough or those categories were never available in the first place.  It probably also indicates that Guarantee bookings will only get the minimum guaranteed as bids would be accepted on anything higher.

  5. We didn’t get the Belle Glos Las Alturas. Probably only a P perk. We like that wine.

The sand sculpture was really cool.

We timed our CK tonight perfect. The Fireworks were really nice. People were clapping for them.

We enjoyed your visit. It’s been a fun cruise.

Not all P’s received the Belle Glos, we got a plate of Petit Fours - John and LaLa must be very important :')

  6. Hi,

We are going to be on Symphony in January and we purchased the 5 night dining package. Planned to use it for 150 Central, Chops Grille, Hooked Seafood and Jamie's. We are not interested (actually just Marie is not interested ;p) in Izumi and neither of us wants to do Wonderland again so we need a fifth location. Does 150 Central still do the split menu where they did one menu in the first half of the cruise and a different one in the second?

    thanks

We were on Symphony last week, disembarked yesterday morning and the menu was exactly the same all week.

  7. Dinner tonight was Jaimie's

    Meat Plank

    Crispy Squid

    Rib Eye

    Lamb

    Penne Pomodoro

Overall impression - to much salt, to much food

Delicious, looks like all the dishes we had yesterday for Pinnacle Lunch, held in 150 but Jamie's food. Disembarking Symphony this morning, see you on Sat - hope to be onboard for lunch at CK ! Enjoy your week.

  8. Just off Symphony and realised we didn’t get a plate of strawberries or canapés on formal night. Not a biggie as the scales show that I had more than enough food... but wondered if this was being phased out?

Seems to be hit and miss with our cruises this year, some we get something and others nothing at all. I remember we asked on Mariner re-positioning in April/May as had not received anything and LA apologized but said that there were so many Pinnacles onboard that they couldn’t cope ! However a plate of goodies arrived soon after that.

  9. Hello,

I’ll be on the cruise from Copenhagen to Boston next year. Any suggestions, recommendations, likes or dislikes. BTW, we’ve been on the Serenade before any really enjoyed the ship.

    Thank you,

    Cheryl

We had a fabulous time. Unfortunately I missed the Golden Circle Tour from Reykjavic (in bed with acute bronchitis !!!) also missed Akureyri !!! Greenland scenery was beautiful and we loved Norway and Nova Scotia. Shetland Islands were interesting especially trying to find a pub ! If you haven’t been to Copenhagen before, try and spend a couple of nights there, lovely city. Temps in Copenhagen were arepund 19 c then gradually got cooler and around 9c in Iceland, colder in Greenland about 5c and then gradually got warmer in Nova Scotia to about 17c. The outside pool on the ship was only open once whilst we were in Halifax Nova Scotia and the sun was out but that was only for about a couple of hours. The solarium pool was however open as was the outside hot tub. Food and service on the ship was excellent. Let me know if I can help with any other info.

  10. Good morning! We will be sailing on Serenade in just over a week (yay!), and I was curious as to what time the bars open on the ship. Sometimes while on vacation, we like to have a little Baileys with our coffee in the morning, and I wasn't sure if that would be possible.

    Many thanks!

Bar opening times do vary and will be posted on the Cruise Compass every evening. I would find out when you are onboard and if there isn’t one open early enough for you, buy some Baileys the night before and keep it covered in the fridge in your stateroom.

  11. Anyone who has stayed in this cabin, please give your thoughts and opinions. Size of balcony, obstructions, noise etc. Please post any photos
    .

We disembarked Serenade yesterday morning and we were in 1572. The balcony was a nice size, only regular chairs and table, though there was plenty of room for reclining chairs or even sun loungers. We didn't mind though as we barely used the balcony, the weather was cool (Iceland and Greenland). No obstructions and didn't notice any noise from above. The room was a good size and not too far from elevators. I wouldn't hesitate to choose that room again. Sorry I didn't take any photos.
