  1. Hi lb - thanks for this.

With Palma i understand SotS docks at Terminal 35 which is furthest from Palma centre. I can still see a Number 1 stop outside so all good. Can you just walk from the ship to the bus stop or is it one of these where you have to take a shuttle to the port exit ?

Additionally do you know if RCCL lay on a shuttle from the ship to Palma centre ?

    Many Thanks

We have been to Palma on 3 cruises this summer (Symphony, Jewel and Azamara) and the shuttle to take to town has left from close to the ship each time, shuttle tickets available for purchase just after exiting the ship, we did not have to walk to the terminal exit/entrance - 10 euros each round trip. If you are not taking the shuttle it can be quite a walk to the terminal exit depending which pier the ship docks at.

  2. Back in 2004 cruise credits were issued and not cruise points. You received 1 cruise credit for each completed cruise regardless of he length of cruise.

In 2011 they changed to the current system of awarding 1 point per night. When they did the conversion each cruise credit was equal to 7 points. they also added in a fudge factor of 1.

    1 credit became 8 points

    2 credits became 15 points

The fudge factor did increase if you had a higher number of cruise credits but that is why you received 8 points.

Didn't you get 2 cruise credits if you booked a JS or higher and another cruise credit for cruises longer than 11 nights ?

  3. We have disembarked Rhapsody, Vision and Splendour in Venice and have left our cabin at around 8.15 ish without a problem. I know in June we had breakfast in the Concierge Lounge, usual continental style offerings. As someone said before it's only 20-25 mins to the airport. Venice Airport is a total nightmare though so be prepared, luckily we had access to one of the lounges which was a huge advantage.

  4. I apologize in advance for not searching for the answer as I would normally do but feeling lazy this morning. :p

    Just a few questions:

    How do we book?

Since we are both Diamond + can Marie and I both use it? In other words I BOGO the first night and she does the 2nd night?

Does cruise length matter as to whether it is offered? Will we be able to use it on a 4 day cruise?

Thanks in advance for your responses. :D

I always e mail the concierge about a week before and ask them to make a reservation for the 1st night then when we are having dinner that night we ask them if we can pay for the 2nd Bogo and "attempt" to book it for later in the week - most of the time it works with a lot of persuasion !!!!

  5. I never heard of that, but you are correct that is sad.

No plans to try MSC yet. Our status match still has another year. If we branch out, it will be for something more upscale. I am hoping to do a Silver Seas cruise that stops in Dutch Harbor. Maybe 2020 or so. Laura's mother grew up there.

John - we just did Azamara in the Med and loved it - top notch food and service.

  6. Hi,

My family are booked on the Oasis of the Seas for next June in the mediterranean, my two little girls will be 8 and 6 years old at time of sailing.

One query we have regarding the Kids club. Just say one of the little ones gets upset for any reason and wants to return to mom or dad - how do they make contact with us? is it an announcement over the tannoy? I'm assuming my phone wont have reception to take a call?

We have just been on Oasis with our two grandsons, 5 and 2, and they gave us a pager phone so they could call us if any problems. The kids loved the kids club.

  7. Just got off the Oasis today. We did a semi B2B sailed on the Harmony 7/7/18 then on then Oasis 7/15/18.

These were are first cruises after making Pinnacle.

The first cruise on the Harmony was Excellent Plus, Plus. The Pinnacle pins really made a difference. The crew went above and beyond to please. One day we were eating a late lunch in the windjammer it was quite crowded, because on an early port leaving (1:30). We had gotten our plates and were looking for a table (like we always do) . One of the officers grabbed our plates a found us a table (had the staff clean it off immediately) Everywhere we went on the ship someone was asking, how is your cruise going? Even Captain Johnny came over to see how we were. We have done 80 cruises with Royal and never received the attention we did on this cruise.

I now understand why people wear the pins. I used to think it was to "impress" other cruisers. But I was wrong.

The loyalty ambassador called to make sure all the announcements were in our rooms. During the Meal with a Officer in Chops. They had a photographer take pictures and printed them before the end of the meal. There were only 3 Pinnacles on the cruise (a single lady, another couple and my wife and I, a total of 5 people) We were in the "Top 3" cruisers. So that got us a bottle of champagne and a photo. It was my wife's birthday and they presented her with a big Birthday cake during the top tier celebration (also took pics and delivered to room)

Disembarking was a breeze, being escorted off the ship.

All in all this was a truly memorable experience.

Next was the Oasis. It used to be our favorite ship. It was okay but lacked the WOW experience we had on the Harmony. The Diamond/Suite Concierges never introduced them selves to us ( like they did on Harmony). We really didn't mind, but there is more to come.

This sailing included Labadee. We had heard rumors about "Barefoot Beach" for years but were never able to go. There were no messages or notes (instructions) about the "Barefoot Beach" in our room. So we hopped off the ship at 10:30 and headed for the information booth. We were told to wait in a certain area to board a shuttle. We took the shuttle to the area. When we got off the shuttle there was a guard at the gate asking for arm bands. We told him we were not issued any, showed him are "white" seapass cards and he let us in. "no problems". At about 1:45 (after eating lunch there) my wife needed to use the restroom (which is outside the compound) upon trying to reenter the compound my wife was refused entry by the "island concierge" She did not have her seapass with her ( she had her bathing suit on). He told her in NO uncertain terms she could not get in. Even after a guest that entered the same time as us, said that we were allowed in earlier. After 5 minutes of arguing, he finally had my wife escorted in. (this will be brought to Michael Bayleys attention on the 9/29/18 cruise complete with pictures of his name badge). While I found out that the Suite/Pinnacle concierges were the ultimate blame because they never sent instructions or wristbands to us. The person at the gate could have handled it much better.

The Suite/Pinnacle concierges also dropped the ball about priority disembarking. We got the red and black luggage slips. But no instructions on where to meet. We assumed it was in the suite lounge like the Harmony the week before. But luckily we asked Beatrice (the diamond concierge) and she told us the meeting place and times (Beatrice was and always has been stellar). Again total lack of communication from the Suite/Pinnacle concierges.

All in all it is great being Pinnacle. Better than we though (a free cruise, and free internet).

Hopefully our experiences on the Oasis will get better (we have 8 trips on her before it goes to Europe)

Hi - we also just got off Oasis yesterday and are sorry to hear about your experience. We found the Barefoot Beach wrist bands on the dresser when we embarked, but could easily have missed them. Late on Sat evening I also found the letter stating the meeting place as the Champagne Bar for disembarkation. I do agree that we didn't feel "pampered" though, had to ask 4 times for our embarkation water and C&A wine, getting the 3rd bottle eventually on the last night. Were you at the Pinnacle Lunch ? It would have been nice to have had an official photo taken there and perhaps something other than the Tinsdale wine !!!! We are also on the Harmony 9/29 so look forward to seeing you then.

  8. On newer class ships, Oasis, Allure Harmony the gold card is long gone......

You now have blue, burgundy (star and sky) and pinnacle color (cannot remember the color) for access.

I guess the gold card is still present on some Freedom and Radiance class ships.

    Safe travels.

Just got off Oasis, Pinnacle in JS has white card,
