  1. Day 2 (Cruise Day 1):

. I know, we should have walked to Café du Monde for beignets, but in my defense, that would have been a bit of a walk from the Hilton. No worries though, we consumed enough beignets upon our return to New Orleans to feed a small army.

There is a café DuMonde outlet in the Riverfront Mall thingy adjacent to the ship terminal. It's at the farthest end from the ships. It's a hike but having a beer in hand makes it easy to get there. A beer at 9:00 AM in NOLA isn't unheard-of.

In the Quarter you can find several places called ..... Café Beignet- one is on Royal ...... and you can save a ninety minute wait.

  2. Actually, the ship can fix you up with a radio that will work for your purposes.

You should contact them in advance. It is probably the Special Needs department.

I have been on a ship with a family that used the system.

Your commercially available walkie talkie unit is basically useless on the ship for anything other than line-of-sight and in THAT case semaphore flags would be a better option.

I still cannot figure out how someone who is deaf intends to use the radio.

  3. Hello there everybody.

Gonna be a 1st time cruiser later this year with my sibling and parents, haven't even clicked the confirmed button yet, but before I do i just have a few questions about

If i do go, which is most likely yes I will be going, it'll be a 5 day cruise on Carnival Sunshine in late October

    So my questions are...

-I'll be booking two rooms, for a total of four people. Would it be one big bill at the end for all of us, or will the other room have their own bill?

-I heard that you could bring food back to your room, does this apply for all the restaurants or just those that allows it?

-Do we all have to dine together at the same time, or can both room pick a different time?

-I know that for Carnival's Cheers program, if one person buys it then everybody has to get it, but does the same apply for Carnival's Bottomless Bubbles Program?

-Should I even be booking this early?

-If I booked this early and prices went down, can i get the new price, or will i still have to pay the price i paid earlier?

-are there water fountains on board? and can i fill up my empty water bottles with them?

I probably will have a lot more questions after i click the confirm button and as the sailing date approaches, but these are the questions i have at this time.

Cruise critic will be a terrific research tool. The answers to your questions are already here.

    Good luck.

  4. Hi all!

So, my friend and I are looking for a fun summer trip. Both of us have never been on a cruise. My friend is in a wheelchair. Any ideas on anything, best ships, best cruise lines any info would be get!:)

Yup! Use Cruise Critic as a research tool.

  5. Is there any still bottled water available on board or in packages other than Aquafina? Evian, Volvic, Highland Spring? Bottled Spring water rather than recycled tap water, which Aquafina is.

Uhhhhh.... you can be pretty certain that in actual fact ALL water is recycled.

I sure do long for the days when the ship will have a vast selection of bottled water to choose from. It'd be nice to get something appropriate for breakfast and then maybe something sporty for lunch. Maybe they could have a special dinner featuring water pairings appropriate to each course. Maybe they could have a dessert on a mirror and serve up naïvE water just to rub it in people's face?

  6. I would love to try a cruise but the why are the prices so high and which boat has the best activities for children?

    Prices are not particularly high.

Doing some research here on Cruise Critic will help you find the answers you want.

  7. We have only been on one Carnival cruise (Dream, 7 day out of New Orleans in November of '15). We have our next one planned for this coming March 25 on the Magic. Was wondering what to expect as far as things like getting in to the shows, bingo, etc. being that it will be spring break for a lot of people. On the Dream in November we would show up about 10-15 minutes early and sit wherever we wanted. Will it be a lot more difficult to get in and get a good seat being that it is Spring Break? Or or are most cruises that are booked pretty full gonna be about the same regardless of time of year? Thanks

Your next cruise will be a somewhat different experience from your first one.

    Good luck!

  8. They were holds on your card. This is another reason to never, ever use a debit card for your onboard account.

You were not scammed, they weren't nefarious and the crew got paid.

I learned a new phrase today:

Build a bridge and get over it.

  9. NCL, RCI and one or two other lines are currently accepting bookings for specific cruises next spring. And this is with Raul Castro firmly in power.

Yah, they are booking. That doesn't mean they'll get to do it.

  10. I think that it is technically illegal to bring prescription drugs into the U.S., isn't it?

    .

    Yes, it is.

Adultery is also against the law along with driving over the speed limit and selling kiddie porn. That's why none of those things happen.

  11. :)

OK, but anyone can set up a new stevedore company and tell the government or port authority that next year they would charge more down to earth fees for handling luggage or putting a rope around a bollard. The old company gets thrown out, together with all workers (striking or not), new company comes in. I can see pilots creating a country-wide monopoly, but it's not as if there's a lack of people who can handle forklifts. (and I still have some trust that governments select companies based on open criteria, like "can you prove you can do the job" and "how much")

    Amazing.

It is no wonder that you're amazed.
