  1. I was thinking the same thing. Its not even that I'm cheap but champagne tends to give me migraines...so does being in the sun all day...the two together? potentially lethal...much safer and easier on the budget if I just stick to local beer!

Well, that menu shows Belikin on tap at 5 clams per. Which is criminal if it's less than a 22oz cup.

  2. I just learned that the new NLC port in Belize is off the mainland and you can't do anything through private companies. I'm feeling a little frustrated that I didn't understand this when I booked. I was so looking forward to going to Belize mainland and showing my extended family the culture, the cave tubing, etc.

I know we'll go and make the best of it. In fact, I'm hoping to be pleasantly surprised by this new port. But right now I'm feeling pretty frustrated.

If anyone is just back from there I'd love to hear what you thought. Especially if you were there with kids.

    Thanks so much.

    I feel your pain.

  3. So two teams have a great battle for the entire game, they have an equal effort and equal score but just so you can feel better about someone beating someone else they have to invent a way to force one team to win. Oh yeah I see your logic.

Why play the game if you're OK with not having a winner?

Oop! I remember. That's what the 8yr old kickball teams do. As a plus, they get a trophy for participation.

  4. Sorry, but the pedant in me has to just say that it isn't "Silly Middle". There are a number of "silly" fielding positions. You are probably thinking of silly mid-on or silly mid-off.

The term is just an add on to normal fielding positions, which basically says that the fielder is very close to the batsman, which is a fairly silly place to be.

Obviously not as silly as the majority of this thread though. :)

    OK. Silly mid-off.

Nothing else has anything close to it for....silliness.

Except maybe calling golf or driving a race car an athletic event.

Which is ...., well, just silly.

  5. Hey, we could bring cricket into this discussion, for the added entertainment of us amused spectators. :)

I'm sure that could start a few pages of people embarrassing themselves by fighting about the pros and cons of cricket and baseball. That's always one of the best. :)

    Cricket is a fine game.

Won't end in a tie, won't be settled with 'penalty shots'.

Here's a thing: Cricket, like baseball, doesn't give a team the option of taking a lead and playing keepaway. The team that isn't scoring MUST present the ball and say 'try to beat us'.

Best of all---Cricket has a position called Silly Middle. You just can't do better than that.

  6. Never said I was a fan of the current way the NHL does that. I like the old way where a tie was a tie. Most real hockey fans do., Poor ASSumption on your part. You lose badly. However at least in the NHL the penalty shot is something that is not all pour luck where a guy gets to kick a ball into a net that is almost 200 square feet with just a single guy guessing which way he is going to kick. Not only that, it remains that 95% of kickball is guys kicking the ball back and forth form one end of the field to the other.

No game that can be settled with a tie is worthy of anyone's attention.

  7. I hope he makes some major changes/adjustments. I anticipate Rubio having some influence/input. Hopefully, the result will be beneficial to the Cuban people. The way it stands now, there is zero.

I don't think there will be much change (within Cuba) when Raul dies; the government corruption runs deep.

I can't imagine anything that would entice me to visit Cuba. I just can't support the government and that is who would get my money via cruise fare, excursions, shopping and the like.

When Raul dies the embargo will be lifted. With no embargo things will change down there. Don't get trampled in the stampede into Cuba.
