  1. Two questions: what are the soda options like? There's a bunch of said I can't have so I am hoping to have a large variety[emoji4] second: I read somewhere that there is a margaritaville on the ship...this true?

Pepsi, Diet Pepsi, Sierra Mist, Mt. Dew, Ginger Ale, Tonic water, Club Soda are available at the bars/restaurants.

The ship does have a Margaritaville, the beverage package works there....but the food is extra and isn't included in the dining package.

    Jimmy Buffett’s Margaritaville at Sea

Quit searchin' for your lost shaker of salt, it’s right here at Jimmy Buffett’s Margaritaville at Sea, only on Norwegian Cruise Line. Take a bite out of paradise with signature items like the Cheeseburger in Paradise. Sip on a Who’s to Blame Margarita. Or sit back and groove along to island-inspired music at this specialty dining venue. Inspired by the lyrics and lifestyle of Jimmy Buffett, this isn’t just a restaurant. It’s a state of mind.

  2. I have booked an inside for my two sons (25) (20) with drink package for one and soda for the other, and I also received 100 internet minutes, photo package and $50 in slot play.

If I put in a bid for a balcony for them, will they lose the additional promotional perks?

Also, we've already purchased the 3 night dining package for them. If we upgrade to a balcony, will they then get to choose 2 "free at sea" and I could get a refund for the dining package I just bought?

If you win the bid you keep the promotions you already have, and don't gain any new ones.

  3. Is this 10 photo package the same that came with the Value Package when I booked? I think the package ended last Sunday but I supposedly have with that booking, at no charge:

    Internet package - 100 minutes

    $50 slot play

Photo - ten standard photos per cabin

Unlimited Phone Calls (I think between cabins, which I didn't know they charged anyways)

When I booked, I didn't even know this Value pack was being offered, they told me after the fact. I'm thinking "Standard photos" are the smaller ones, not the 8 X 10's?

    From the selects promo...

    10 Photo Package:

Offer will be applied to the first guest in the stateroom. Duplicate prints are not included in this offer. All guests in the stateroom are eligible for free photos, with a maximum of 10 total prints per stateroom. Photo sizes included are 6"x8" and/or 8"x10". Only standard photos are available for this offer. Stock photos, canvas prints, and metal prints are not included in this offer. USB product and or digital files are not included in this offer. Offer cannot be used at the Perspectives Photography Studio. Photo packages are per cabin and cannot be combined with any other offer and is not transferrable between ships or cruises. Photos can only be redeemed in one transaction photo desk onboard.

  4. Hi!

We are heading on the Escape and I had some questions for anyone who has used the Youth Program. We never used it before. Thinking my son might like to interact with children for a little bit in structured activities. He does well in that environment.

    1. Does anyone have a Daily for the Escape for 3 year old program?

    2. Has anyone had there Autistic Child in the program?

    3. Do children need to be potty trained to go to the kids program?

If anyone has any other information they would like to provide please let me know.

Call the Access desk before your sailing, they will be able to help with all your questions and the program will be ready for your child.

Is special-needs care provided in Guppies Nursery, Splash Academy or Entourage?

To ensure that children/teens and parents have an enjoyable vacation, and to assist those children/teens that require a little extra care, it is recommended that parents contact the access desk in advance of sailing for any medical special needs request by calling toll free 1-866-584-9756 or by sending an email to accessdesk@ncl.com.

This link has lots of information on those frequently asked questions about the program.

  5. So sorry if I missed it in my forum search, but anyone recently been on the Breakaway and had Peter as their butler? If so, any comments?

We were on the Breakaway in Sept and had Ramona as our butler and she was fantastic! Not that we ever really asked for much, but she always went the extra mile and always had a smile on her face. Was really disappointed to find out she in no longer aboard the Breakaway.

Love Ramona, happy to report that she's traveling in India right now with her new husband (Asst Concierge). Hopefully they will both be back on the ships soon.

  6. Are the 250 minutes of internet shared use by stateroom or does EACH person have to purchase their own minutes?

If you're talking about the promotional option, it's per cabin. Minutes can be shared, but only one device can be logged in at a time.

    Internet Package (Free WiFi):

    250 minutes per stateroom.

Internet package is per stateroom. One login per stateroom.

Internet package is not available at Harvest Caye.

On Breakaway, stateroom receives an internet package of 250 minutes or 1000 MB of data.

    Internet package includes activation fee.

  7. Separate cabins would be the best option, and then all 4 guests can get the Free at Sea promotional option. Privacy and the second bathroom would tip the scales for me to book 2 cabins instead of the mini suite with 4 adults.

  8. Wow!! Wish I had seen that one. Would have made a great Christmas gift to the family. One stop shopping and done.

Pricing was amazing on that sailing too, it seems the cruise didn't sell well to begin with because of the way the dates for the holiday fell and many kids needing to take off a few days from school. Pricing dropped almost as low as the December 11th sailing, which is normally one of the lowest priced weeks of the year.

  9. Hi,

We are looking at Breakaway out of NYC. Is the only difference the bath tub? There is a difference in square footage but I wasn't sure if there is more to consider before we make a decision...

    Thanks,

    Ela

Only the family mini suite cabins on the Breakaway have the tub/shower combination, the other mini suites just have a deluxe shower.

The extra square footage is mostly in the bathroom area in the mini suite cabins. The mini suites have two sinks and a longer vanity, and a deluxe shower.

  10. Hi

Is anyone having difficulty with this promotion? First it is rather difficult to see which sailing is at par. 2nd when you do find one you discover that it is not really at par when you compare the same sailing on a US website. For example Jan 8 sailing on the GEM promoted as Cdn at par at the rate of $728 IX. The same sailing on a US website is at 549 US same IX category.

Quite misleading and dishonest promotion imo.

    gerry1.10

I haven't checked that promotion in awhile but in the past it wasn't applicable to any category that ends in the letter X, so the IX category wouldn't be able to get any promotional options...including the at "par".

  11. Hi! :)

It's been years since I cruised with NCL and I've read that the luggage tags may be easily torn or may fall off the luggage. Some passengers have purchased tags to place the luggage tags in.

Has anything changed recently? Can any tell me if it's necessary?

    Thank you! ;)

Still the same. Pretty sturdy if you fold them into the multi layers, can be reinforced with clear packing tape if needed. The plastic cases to insert them in are available, not not absolutely necessary.

We wait and put the luggage tags on once we reach the pier, and always tuck an extra copy inside the bag.

  12. Does anyone know why the Studios on the Epic for Jan and Feb 2017 are for the most part sold out? I know NCL is offering 2 week as well as 1 week trips on the same ship but I'm still surprised of the high demand for Studios.

I don't think the solo traveling concept has taken off enough to sell out 128 cabins over 2 months. At least not from my observations over the last few years.

    Any ideas would be appreciated.

I'm seeing at least 3 weeks that those studio cabins are available. Are you changing the default number of guests from 2 down to 1 so the studio cabins show up?

  13. I was on the Jade on 11/13-11/20 and have posted my
to YouTube. I posted some additional information and common questions I heard on/off the ship in the description as well. I posted a map of the island in this thread as well.

I'm sorry to hear that dem1958 had a bad time. I guess every port is what you make of it and what you want out of it. They announced several times on the Jade that Harvest Caye was not 100% and there would probably be some snafu's. I don't know any theme park that ever opened without any. One disappointment we had was that there was no free drinks with UBP or free buffet (the island employs the local Belizians and they do have to get paid somehow), but the walk (or golf cart ride) back to the ship isn't too bad to hit the Atrium on Deck 7 and get a few drinks. It does take away time from the island... which is the other issue we had on the Jade docking from only 7am-1pm (on board at 12:30pm) which made it a short(er) port day. NCL knows the distance back to Tampa and just somehow couldn't coordinate the itinerary to make Harvest Caye it's premier port on the cruise (at least for the first year) and put it somewhere in the middle (or first) to make it a full day. As far as electricity, we had no issues where we were at, and all stores we went into had it. So it must have just been one area or spotty as construction crews worked on fixing any immediate issues.

Other than these 2 issues, we had a wonderful day walking around (I took over 100 pictures for the slideshow), exploring the island, hanging in the pool, and enjoying the beach with some new friends. We will be returning in April so we weren't in "OMG we have to do everything NOW" mode. Also, there were 3 other stops before Harvest Caye, so we already had our fill of snorkeling (Cozumel and Costa Maya), ziplining (Roatan), and other activities the island offered. It was nice to just relax on the last port day. About 10:30 we decided to go back to the ship, grab our 32oz tumbler, and fill that up with 3 Rebellious Fish drinks, then get 2 more to carry in hand back to the island. We returned about 11:15 and got back in the pool having enough drinks that made the next hour and 15 minutes more fun. If you plan ahead, bring a tumbler and fill it up with drinks (no or little ice) and take it with you - then later get some cups with ice from the bar and pour your own drinks! Saved us about $40 right there!

We are looking forward to returning in April after the Jade is out of Dry Dock!

Thanks for sending me that link earlier today to your slide show, I loved it :)

  14. My wife and I have been in many suites in the past, and even an Owners Suite aboard Princess. We booked our first NCL Owners Suite on the Dawn, with both adjoining rooms, for a special family cruise coming up in April. I know NCL provided a number of bottles, or bottle of liquor of the guest's choosing en-suite in the past, however I don't see any references to it on the NCL site now. Does anyone know if NCl stopped the practice since FDR took over? If not, what's the process to make the request? ;)

It's still available, you'll get 3 bottles of liquor. Your Butler will have a list from you to select from when you arrive. I've been able to write in some other options that weren't shown on the list....like 1800 Tequila, and Baileys as an example.

Here's the mention of it for the Deluxe Owner suite on the website, it's the same number of bottles for the Owner suites...

    https://www.ncl.com/why-cruise-norwegian/cruise-accommodations/cruise-suites-and-penthouses#t5m2

Relax with an incredible floor-to-ceiling view, and let the butler and concierge take care of the finer details. With up to 1,392 sq. ft.*, the Deluxe Owner’s Suite pampers up to six guests. Champagne, custom selection of liquor, fruit, bottled water and sodas. No balcony on Norwegian Dawn and Norwegian Star.

Available on Pride of America, Norwegian Dawn and Norwegian Star.

  15. Hey everyone. We are sailing on the Escape in January so we're past the final payment window. There are three of us in our room currently, and we are considering taking our 10 month old as passenger number 4. The only problem is that all aft facing balconies (where we are currently) only can hold 3, so if we add we will have to change cabins and other balconies will most likely be cheaper.

So here's my question, can we even do this at this point since we're moving and adding....and if we "downgrade" will they refund the difference or are we stuck in that regard? Thanks!

They won't issue any type of refund after final payment, and may not let you downgrade the cabin. Typically to move down you have to cancel the original reservation and rebook, and since you're past final payment there are penalties for that. Most likely you'll need to move to a mini suite category that sleeps 4, and pay the difference in price plus the fee for the 4th guest. I would suggest the family mini suite category since that's the only type of mini suite that has the tub/shower combination which may come in handy with the baby.

Definitely call your original booking agent, or Norwegian if you booked directly with them. They are the best ones to advise you, and the only ones who can help with the change.

  16. Hi,

Just new today and soon to take our second Norwegian Cruise. First one on the Breakaway and first one with our teenagers. Our kids are 17(girl) and 14(boy) and they are somewhat shy. I'm wondering how easy it will be to get them involved at Entourage and what types of activities they have?

Really hoping to not have sullen kids sitting in our room all day bored and upset about lines and crowds!

I'm really hoping they make friends and have lots to do :)

    Thanks for your help!

If you haven't already done so check out the roll call for that cruise..

    http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=2236777

There are teens those ages on the cruise, maybe you could see about getting email addresses and having the kids contact each other ahead of time....or arrange to meet with the parents in the cruise terminal so the kids will get a chance to "know" someone before going to the teen club that first afternoon/evening.

Generally the friendships seem to be formed that first evening, just like in school the first day is always important to in making friends.

That is a holiday sailing so there will be a lot of teens on the ship for that one... :)

  17. The video that was previously posted is not the cabin that holds 5 people. Here is a video of the one that does https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=family+oceanview+ncl+breakaway

The cabin in that video does sleep 5! The bunk for the 5th guest comes down from the ceiling, so you won't see that unless the cabin steward pulls it down and opens it up....but it is there.

You're link doesn't take you to any specific video, just the search page.
