  1. My free booking choice was "pick 1 of 4". I chose the UBP.

Now, in the final 30 days, going over my paperwork and didn't see the UBP anywhere.

    I called NCL.

"Oh. You chose the dining package"

"No, I paid separate for that... it's on my statement."

"Ok. Let me check another system.... It says you didn't make a choice."

I re-chose UBP, and paid the grats.

    Now, I'm a little sensitized.

My statement now says "Adult Beverage Package".

Is that the same as the "Ultimate Beverage Package"?

They are the same thing.... :)

  2. Thanks Bird! A while ago someone posted an excel spreadsheet that had the cabin/balcony breakdowns. 13302 balcony looks small compared to Deck 10 and I don't want to change my suite without knowing how Deck 13 balconies compares to the other H6's on other decks.

The balcony on deck 13 is the smallest of the B1 aft balcony category, also more noise on deck 13 and 14 from Spice H2o above has been reported. Here's the listing from largest to smallest by deck...

    9, 12, 11, 10, 14, 13.

  3. I think I'm ready to try NCL again. It's been a few years and the last couple of cruises on NCL were in suites, but now the price of suites is SO high. However, I've found really good reviews of these new NCL ships on other boards .... like Princess and Celebrity. This would never have happened in years past, so there must be something to like about Breakaway.

Can you answer a few questions about balcony cabins to get me started?

How are the aft balconies? Soot? Size of balconies? Furniture? Compare with a "large balcony" category.

Now Mini suite balconies. The cruise I'm looking at has a regular mini suite priced the same as a aft (regular)balcony. Differences? Pluses and Minuses? How are the Mini's with large balconies?

Thanks for any help you can give me.:)

That document was put together by a wonderful Cruise Critic member...lots of information on that about the sizes of each category....also photos if you click on the blue X's

  4. As usual, they seem to be a little sluggish about updating the webpage. I saw those two new perks mentioned in the updated terms & conditions, but until they update the front page of the promo, we won't know exactly what all the choices are for POA.

Here's the promo codes I see for the POA...

  5. I am asking because I actually drink tea and if there are then I will find and bring some tea pods to go in those machines. If not I will bring teabags because I like a specific kind of tea.

No mini bar or coffee maker in the studio cabin. You will find coffee/hot water machines in the studio lounge area as well as snacks. In the Studio lounge area on the Escape they had a large box will all types of Lipton teas.

  6. I am curious about the gym too, the pictures are great. Does anyone know if the jogging track is in the same location as the breakaway and getaway? I was trying to find it on the deck plan but was challenged. Lol

it is the same location on the Escape, right outside the Arcade/Margaritaville restaurant. No rock climbing wall on the Escape so it's a little easier to get around the jogging track on the Escape.

  7. We are a family of four and are very much looking forward to our cruise on the Escape early next year. We booked an inside family stateroom. It looks REALLY small, but we know we won't spend much time in there, so we went with that. My questions are...

Is there storage for suitcases under the bed? We will have at least three.

Are there outlets for charging devices? How many?

Is there a TV in the room?

    Thanks for the info. :)

  8. ]I apologize if these have been asked a million times as I'm sure they have, I tried to do some searching on the forums and couldn't find answers to all my questions so thought I'd ask. Would love to be directed to other threads that may answer these questions as well :)

Sailing on The Escape July 2016!

We will be in a forward facing Haven penthouse suite. I'm pretty confused as to what all is included:

    - I know it has a beverage package and dining package. Is there a max drink price allowed on the beverage package? Can it be used in all venues except the mini bar?

    Ultimate Beverage Package:

Applicable to guests 1-2 on the reservation.

Guest must be at least 21 years of age at time of sailing to qualify for the Ultimate Beverage Package. Guests under 21 will receive the soda package.

Variety of spirits and cocktails, wines by the glass and bottled or draft beer up to $15. Includes fountain soda and juice, and non-alcoholic beer.

A 20% discount will be given on bottles of wine (champagne and sparkling included) purchased on board.

Does not apply to the Ice Bars.

Does not include room service, package sales, bottled water, ship specific promotions or beer buckets, designated super premium brands (subject to change), bottled wine, mini bar purchases, fresh squeezed juices, Lavazza coffee beverages, wine dispenser, energy drinks or vending machines.

Guest who receive the Soda Package may obtain fountain soda at any bar, lounge or restaurant throughout the duration of the cruise.

Guest's check may reflect applicable VAT and/or taxes for certain ports or itineraries.

    - The dining package just baffles me, seems like you get only 2 free meals and most restaurants you get a slight discount, some no discount at all. Am I right in my thinking on this? It's 4 meals for guest #1 and 4 meals for guest #2 on the reservation, for a 7 day cruise.

Packages are based on a per meal basis.

Applicable to guests 1-2 on the reservation.

Food Republic, Carlo's Bake Shop items, The Bake Shop, Ice Cream Bar, Gelato, specialty items in the Asian restaurant, Chef's Table, Special Occasion/Holiday menus (New Year's, Christmas, etc.), Jazz Brunch, Wine Lovers and Murder Mystery lunches, and beverages are not included as part of the Specialty Dining Packages.

You may choose to dine in the following venues as part of your Specialty Dining Package for the corresponding upcharges: The Supper Club ($15), For the Record ($15), Ocean Blue ($15), Bayamo ($15), Cirque Dreams and Illusionarium ($10 regular seats/$15 premium seats/$35 VIP seating on Breakaway), Sushi Bar ($7), Pincho Tapas Bar ($7), and Raw Bar ($7).

Specialty Dining Packages include one main course per person at Cagney's and Le Bistro restaurants. Additional main courses will be charged at $10.00.

There is no minimum or maximum to the number of meals that can be redeemed in a day, however each meal is counted towards the package.

    - Is room service (NOT breakfast) free for Haven suites? Or still an upcharge? Your butler will deliver all room service orders, no extra charge for those...but remember to tip the butler based on how much you use their services.

    - We will be cruising with others that will not have Haven suites, are we allowed to have them as guests to the Haven dining room ever? (Kind of doubt it but thought I'd ask). No, the Haven area is exclusively for Haven suite guests.

    - I believe I saw somewhere that the Haven gets reserved seats for the shows, whereabouts in the theater are these located?

    - If someone could please either link me to all the perks of a Haven suite or list them I would greatly appreciate it.

My main experience has been on Royal Caribbean, and I've never really done the speciality restaurants ever, but on the Escape there seem to be A LOT. Should I be planning on spending a bunch of extra money? Do most people still just go with the free options? Besides the 4 meals in the Specialty restaurants you will have the wonderful Haven restaurant for meals....and several main dining rooms which have great options.

Besides room service, are there 24 hour food options? I tend to have a weird eating schedule and sometimes just want a slice of pizza or snack after midnight. O'Sheehan's is open 24 hours, and you'll have butler service to the room 24 hours as well.

What time do bars tend to stay open until? I was looking at some pictures of dailies but they mostly listed "close" as the closing time (except for ones that closed early-ish).

My sister in law is debating whether to share a room with her parents or to get a studio cabin. Is there usually a general crowd that books the studios? She would be most interested in socializing with a mid 20s - mid 30s crowd so I don't want to recommend a studio cabin if most solo cruisers tend to be older. The number and ages of guests in the studio cabins tend to go by the cruise date....it's a younger group during January when the college kids are out of school, generally it's a good mix of ages in the studio cabins. I've always seen solo cruiser gatherings listed in the Freestyle daily activity sheets each afternoon.

Anyone know what the poker situation is on NCL ships (or the Escape in particular)? Is there poker in the casino? With a dealer or one of those automated tables? Do people ever play? There are poker tables in the Casino, live dealers.

Think that's all for now, sorry again if these questions are super over asked. Thanks in advance!

Hopefully that gets you started with a few answers.... :)

  9. I booked cruise thru a TA today. I selected the excursion credits. Am I supposed to see this somewhere on the NCL site (my reservation is there).

Can I book the excursions now....or do I wait until I'm on the ship?

    Shore Excursion Credit Offer:

$50 shore excursion credit is per stateroom.

    Limit 4 ports.

Shore excursion credit is applicable for each port, and is not transferable to other ports. Use the credit or lose it.

Does not include embarkation and debarkation ports. Overnight stays count as one port, except Bermuda sailings which can receive up to 3 individual days of shore excursion credit.

Shore excursion credit can only be redeemed by calling 1-866-625-1167 or booking onboard.

Shore excursion credit has no monetary value, is non-refundable and non-transferable.

  10. Hey has anyone heard anything definitive on the Guppy Nursery on the Escape?

It's there, I visited the Nursery on Monday. Capacity of 10, staff of 7...nice rooms. There is a fee for this area, $10 per hour for first child $8 for each sibling. Late night fee is $12 per hour for first child, $10 per hour for siblings. Reservations are needed (first come first served).

  11. Respond to your post cruise survey - it benefits the guest for the company to know what you liked and what you didn't. Naming employees by name helps them out and get promoted. Telling of issues let's them have the opportunity to correct them. I received notice that I was randomly drawn to received a $25 NCL gift card due to responding to the survey. That's awesome! I hope it can be applied for use as OBC.

Gift card can be used towards the deposit or payment of a cruise...or you can take it on the ship and down to the desk in the Atrium and have it applied towards your on board account. It can go towards payment of the Daily Service charge, as well as any on board purchase.

  12. I was on her last 7 day cruise last week and the crew was excited to visit some new ports. And she is a magnificent vessel! Loved the cruise. Best food and service of any of the cruises I have been on.

I was on the Getaway for just one day when she was up in NY, can't wait to get back on in March next year.

Look for her in Curacao tomorrow on the webcams :)

  13. Love when the ships go to new ports...
