we saw vaping on the Summit on April/May. One by the pool trying to do sneaky exhale and another no where near smoking area.   So if vapers were willing to do vaping before the experiment, I can’t see this going away

It's the beginning of a slippery slope, IMO.

How will X deal with guests vaping in their staterooms, which is the next logical situation. On previous X sailings we have had to call Guest Relations because we could smell the cigarette smoke coming through the air ducts from the cabins next door. Smoking in staterooms is illegal, but guests will still try and get away with it.

I can’t see any logical reason for X to go down this path regarding guests vaping. Have they done actual research on this topic? What percentage of their guests actually indulge in this activity? Will allowing it really actually increase their bottom line?

There is a very well known quote, “ The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few, or the one. Perhaps X needs to figure out which is more important.

We have only sailed on Edge once. That sailing we were in a sky suite. My dislikes are. Luminae has limited food choices and noisy. Edge Retreat does not have a real bar. Retreat sundeck had limited shade. Retreat sundeck bar seating area. Not a nice area for lunch on port day when it rains as you get wet. Yes we got wet. Luminae not open on port days for lunch.

Friends booked Apex for Iceland. We decided to join them and give E Class suites another try. Apex does have a bar in the Retreat Lounge.

I think you will be happier with Apex. 😉 😊

I enjoy cruising on new ships, exploring all the nooks and crannies, along with enjoying the ride!  There is always that excitement onboard, not to mention all the planning/packing for another adventure.

We fell in love with the E class ships and have sailed exclusively on them since the Edge Inaugural. Can’t wait to be on board the Ascent!

I think we will see more of the older and smaller ships of the mainstream cruise lines being sold off or scaped during the same time.

I agree, those were my thoughts years ago.

It was just a matter of time, IMO.

We’ve been on two Celebrity cruises in the past and loved them.

But I’m horrified the price quoted for our 26 year old son who needs a cabin of his own?

So sorry, but the truth is, no. X expects at least double occupancy.

Just briefs, but I would only ever send my everyday cotton Calvin Klein unmentionables to the ship's laundry.  Any brand more prestigious than that would have to be hand washed in my stateroom's bathroom sink and hung indoors to dry.

Thanks for sharing. Though it's a little TMI. 😳
It would be nice if this conversation could return to its original topic.

  7. On our last TA on Beyond we had just left the Mediterranean Sea and entered the Atlantic heading towards the US. The Captain made an announcement that we were turning back towards Gibraltar due to a medical emergency.

We were having dinner at the Rooftop Garden Grill and watched as a helicopter approached, hovered overhead, then lowered a gurney. A few minutes later a passenger was hoisted up and the helicopter flew away.

Everyone was happy to later hear that the passenger had received treatment and was doing fine.

Medical emergencies do happen but X's crew is trained to handle them. 👍

Reading the above boredom reports about the webinar really takes the wind out of my sails.
I was really looking forward to watching it later tonight after Survivor.

From what I'm gathering from reading this thread, you’d feel like a Survivor when you finish the webinar. 😉

That looks lovely. It doesn't appear to be a brand generally available in Ireland, so I assume my wife will be looking closely onboard! Is there much difference in price between on-board and buying locally?

I'm not sure you can buy this item locally. I received one as a “gift” after making a purchase of one of their regular merchandise items.

Sorry for being a novice.  I bought into the cruise/cruisetour as a single package - price, excursions, packaging and flights.  It was all Celebrity.  All payments to Celebrity.  Cancellation by Celebrity.  If you want to parse out the cruise and cruisetour, so be it.  The stain and pain persists.  Comment all you want but I am trying to put this behind me but I will continue to cast all blame on Celebrity.

You can continue to blame X, but, IMO it's a waste of energy. 😉

This same scenario could have applied to any cruise tour “package" sold by any cruise line.

As far as “Flights by Celebrity” go, X has no control over scheduling, cancellations, etc., as these are regularly scheduled flights that anyone can book, X just has negotiated airfares with certain carriers.

Personally I would have my TA working on a replacement trip.

Wishing you the best of luck.

From what I've been reading from numerous threads about the Beyond's unaccounted for noises when sailing on just about every floor has me thinking twice about sailing her in 2024. Both the Apex and Edge sound terrific, i haven't read anything about the cracking-ticking noises coming from either ship that the Beyond is getting a lot of publicity about. if any of you haven't read about it, you might want to look into that thread. let's hope the Ascent's builder wont have this issue.

I have read everything. I'm not concerned at all.

    YMMV.

Exactly why there isn't a wrong answer to the OPs question or many other threads like this one. Personal preference for the selection process.

Agree about the E class ships. Our first was on the Apex, March of this year. WOW! Booked a future Edge cruise while on the Apex.

We started off with Edge, then sailed Apex and our next cruise is on Beyond.

We have 2 on the books for Ascent, she's the one I'm really looking forward to! 😎
