  1. I am having trouble resetting my password. I have submitted a password change request in Chrome and in Safari from a Macbook. I am checking spam too, but a reset email is not being sent.
  2. We had fixed dining times and the tables on each side were anytime dining.
  3. About midnight I was wide awake and hungry. I hopefully called room service to order a cheeseburger. I expected to be told no luck. Last night of cruise. Instead I received an apology that they only had cheddar cheese, not American. I gleefully ordered the cheeseburger. It was delicious. An excellent last impression of Cunard. We arrived Southampton at about 1:30. We had breakfast in the dining and returned to our cabin to wait until our 9:10 debarkation time. We had about 45 minutes for a Power Nap. At 8:55 we got up and walked out of our cabin. We took the C elevator down to deck 2. Moments later we were in the cruise terminal. We found our luggage quickly. There were no visible customs agents and we walked through. I did not see anyone getting stopped or questioned. Our quick progress through customs caused confusion with our limo driver. Although I had stated we were on the Queen Mary in my confirmation email, the driver went to other terminals first. We were in terminal 10. We waited 45 minutes until 10 am. Then we rode into London. It was about a 3 hour drive to our hotel. We arrived at 1:30 and the room was not ready. This is not a surprise. We are eating lunch while we wait. Canard's debarkation process was extremely efficient imho.

  5. I live in Chicago and rarely see 2500 rt businesses class fares.
  6. This is my first cruise with 6 sea days in a row and no ports. I did a lot of reading and napping during the day. We enjoyed our evenings in the queens ballroom. Lunch at the pub is always a highlight. In summary, the idea of 6 days at sea should not dissuade one from trying Cunard. You will find something to do if you want, or you can do your thing. The ship did not seem overcrowded. I could always find a seat. The dress code is a major concern for most. In this cruise many men wore tuxedos or suits. I purchased a tuxedo because I planned to use it for other occasions. The smart dress evenings with collard shirts were easy for me because that’s my work attire. I’m a teacher. The terminology of formal and smart can be off putting if you don’t understand them. But a little research and it was no problem for me. IMHO the economics of a crossing makes sense. The cost of one business class ticket to Europe is 8,000. For 4,000 two can go in a balcony cabin. With 7 days of meals and entertainment included. Jet lag going eastward becomes a non issue with the gradual process of adding an hour each day as you go east. The major argument against a crossing is the amount of time needed. To do it both ways adds two weeks to a trip. You have to send a minimum of 2 weeks in Europe while you wait for the ship to return so you can take it back.
  7. I am at breakfast this morning and sitting next to a veteran Cunarder. She explained that Cunard introduced an ordering system where the waiter now use tablets to take our orders. This has been online for two weeks and is largely responsible for the slower times at breakfast because there are so many options for taking orders. There appears to be a delay on the kitchen end because it takes awhile for the food to come out.
  8. I did ask about always available and was told only in the Britannia club section. My gf and I complained about the service in the dining room at breakfast to another manager outside dining room. At dinner shortly after we were seated our waiter apologized for the morning experience. Then another instructed us to look for him in the morning. A third came by and told us the cook and the waiter got a talking to. I was surprised because my understanding is that Cunard is rather unresponsive to complaints. We submitted two laundry bags this morning with no difficulty. Dinner was delicious. I really am enjoying my first Cunard experience.
  9. The breakfast service was very slow. Almost two hours which caused us to miss a 9:15 event. I did complain. The issue appears to be a complete lack of urgency in the part of the waiter. He said sorry and shuffled around and still no food. Eventually i was able to speak with a manager. His main objective seemed to interrupt whenever I spoke or GF spoke. Each time I told him he was interrupting. He told us we should have told the waiter we were in a hurry. I explained it was not our job to tell the waiter to do his. He got frustrated and left. We had allowed an hour to eat. The British people at are table stated they appreciated us speaking up. I know it is the British way to not fuss. And I really preferred not to. But we sat for an hour after our orders were put in. So I let them know. Our cabin steward has done a great job. It looks like he is overworked. I’ve given him an extra 20 to show appreciation. Then today he provided two laundry bags and forms without asking. We both submitted laundry and he took care of that, earning another 20. We out both planning on a Power Nap in the cabin this afternoon.
  10. Yes. It was gammon. I knew I would not like the other choices so I tried that one. I asked about the alternative selection and learned that was only available in the club dining room.
  11. Tuesday was pretty much a day for resting. A long nap in the morning and then lunch in the pub. We chatted with a couple in the pub and the rested in the cabin again. This Dinner was the first miss imho. I ordered something that had the word steak in it. It was ham with eggs and mashed potatoes. The eggs were okay. I not a ham person. I wasn’t that hungry so no big deal. The ice cream was the highlight. Duo Panache in the ballroom was the second miss. I don’t know who created the playlist. They must have googled 80 songs that sucked. I would have preferred a bit more funk. Rick James or Grace Jones.
  12. I cheerfully choose not to be a champion. Lol.
  13. My gf eats the avocado toast every day for breakfast. I’ll go to the lookout today. I need to explore the front of the ship.
  14. The my Voyage website has been inactive for two days. Really doesn’t make sense. I’ve found that the omelette is the best breakfast food. I tried the English bacon. It was good. The temperature is 58. Seas calm.
  15. The chairs in the dining room are a bit tight for my rear end which should have a wide load sign on it. I discovered at breakfast that dome chairs don’t have arms. I asked at dinner and my chair with arms was swapped out for a chair with no arms. I no longer need a shoe horn and grease to sit down and get up.
  16. The QM2 is moving quite a bit more than earlier in the crossing. Of course after staggering from our cabin to the elevator someone was on the elevator saying, “Oh this is smooth for me.” We are not experiencing sea sickness. It’s kind of like walking on a fast moving train in the United States. A side to side sway that’s kind of predictable.
  17. I found my lunch spot. The pub. The fish and chips are perfect. The captain there would be some movement. I think he said pitch. We are on deck six near the back. It’s a relaxing, gentle sway. Whatever it’s called. The sea condition is slight seas. So apparently no big deal.
  18. I’m posted up in pub waiting for fish and chips at 12(1) pm. I’m reading and relaxing.
  19. No. I have not gotten to the front part yet. This sounds like a place to explore. I’ll add that to this afternoon’s to do list after the fish and chips.
  20. I’ve had no problems getting around. I use the stairway letters to help me navigate. The only place that’s kind of difficult to find is the planetarium. I figured it out pretty quickly. I have not found the scenic elevators. I’m not sure what makes them scenic. Today I am trying the fish and chips for lunch. Than we do afternoon tea.
  21. It would have been better to plan ahead about the eating. However there are so many details keep track of getting ready I forgot about that. The Skype calling is working well. My father appreciates the calls. I got a Skype number snd he was able to call back.
  22. We have a fixed dining time of 6. We asked for a table of 6. This turned out to be a group of three tables for two set adjacent to each other but not touching. The first night I ate by myself since gf was resting and had already eaten. No one was at the other tables. The formal night, we sat next to a couple from Scotland. Then the next night we sat next to two sisters from England. Then halfway through dinner another couple was sat next us in the empty table. It appears that we he other tables around us are being used for anytime dining. At breakfast we’ve luckily sat with the same people each day.
  23. Sorry about the repost. I knew there were dance host for women. But not for men. We were in the ballroom watching the dancing. They did a line dance and we joined for fun not really knowing the steps. The lady dance host paired up with me and the male dance host paired up with her. I don’t think I got one step right but everyone was encouraging. I was very impressed by how the two hosts seamlessly accommodated both of us.
  24. The service at dinner is improving. I think they just need to get to know us. GF has dietary needs and the waiter discreetly supported her after she got something she couldn’t eat. He had been giving her the next day’s menu so she can mark out her choices. I like this because I can look and get a preview. I tipped the waiter. The ice cream in here is exquisite. I had the Coffee ice cream tonight. It has been foggy all day and the temperature is cooling. It’s 66 and water temperature is 62. Someone at breakfast said it would be colder after we got beyond Greenland.
  25. Well I waited too long to book the steakhouse for dinner. I called and was able to get in for lunch today. I enjoyed it. I suspect it would be better for dinner. I was careless filling out the laundry form for GF’s laundry Sunday. We could not figure out the category for some of the items. So I chose the 15 items for 52 dollars. The laundry was returned undone and a terse note that we needed to itemize. Initially I was irritated and raised a fuss. The head laundry guy came and explained the reason for returning the laundry. Their view is itemized lists protects from lost items. I regretted yelling at the room steward. I apologized profusely and tipped him. This was not his fault. I’m experiencing difficulty making posts. I complete one and submit only to come back later to find it didn’t post and only half of it was saved.
