Just back from the Dream. We were told it was routine testing of the generators. While on board, a crew member confirmed it was extra cleaning for Norovirus. I did not see any illnesses from Norovirus.

To me, new and different ports is worth the extra drive time.

Yes, easy enough to book cabins a little distance apart. And try to avoid cabins with connecting doors. The doors are not very soundproof.
-
For that large of a group, I would stick with either early or late dining.

The fruit soups are vegetarian. The hot soups are typically made with either chicken or beef stock. The mushroom dishes are typically not vegetarian.
Try to search for a cruise critic poster by the name of Kurt Jerome Wild. He is vegetarian, and has done a lot of research. Might be from a couple of years ago. He might have stopped cruising.
Good luck!

Just got off the Dream. On the Serenity adult area, about 30% of the chairs were "saved". I asked the Carnival employee standing next to the sign with the rules on it. He came around, looked at the sign, and said "We don't do that."
Even worse on the regular decks. My daughter said that 6 chairs near her were reserved for 4 hours, and nobody ever showed up.

Just went the other day. I swear I heard someone at Guest Services telling a passenger she could bring a guest. I travel with my 22 year old daughters. They don't care to go, so I grab their invites to hand to anyone who might need one.

It was pretty expensive. Only per minute packages, no unlimited.

We were on the same Dream cruise. Some people were emailed that the ship was doing routine maintenance, and to arrive from 2-5. We got on approximately 1:15. Our cabin was not ready, and I had to argue with our cabin steward about dropping off my heavy carry-on with wine in it. A supervisor finally showed up, and allowed us to drop the one heavy bag off, but we had to keep the other carry-ons with us.
We missed Belize and Roatan, so the jump-to-the-head-of-the-tender-line was worthless.

Just off the Dream. There was a fridge in our oceanview cabin, but did not work very well. The steward was willing to remove items for us. Sometimes they do that and just put them on the shelves in the cabin, cutting down on other storage. This time, they were removed from our cabin.
I brought a small cooler on, and filled it with ice myself daily.

Just got off the Dream. It can get crowded for shows and such. Try eating a bit early, or late.
My kids loved the Tandoori area in the back.

I've done the Behind=the-Fun tour on the Dream. We used the stairs, but there was one or two places where they said we could do either stairs or elevators. People on the stairs beat the elevators. (Only a few flights.)

Just got off the Dream. There is a nice gym, with free locker rooms. Inside the locker rooms are a free sauna I believe. (Might be a steam room).
If you are in a spa cabin, or buy the spa pass, there is a very extensive area of special rooms. Cost is $249 for a couple, or $149 for one person. We picked up the 2 person spa package. A very nice Thallosotherapy pool (big whirlpool). Various hot and cold rooms. Very relaxing.
It was very nice this past week, as we had bad weather, and they kept closing the outside decks, pools and whirlpools.

Good question. I would like to order what I want not what Carnival wants me to have.
On Elegant night, they don't give you a choice of appetizers. They bring everyone the same plate of appetizers. I'm vegetarian, so not keen to have meat plopped down in front of me.

Yes. Just got off the Dream. My kids made platinum in the middle of the cruise, and they were platinum upon boarding.

Belize is a tough port. First you need a 30 min tender ride or so.
Then all the best things to do are quite a distance from the port. I'm paranoid about getting back late.
Cave Tubing - an hour away.
Water Taxi to beaches - 30-45 min ride, depending on where you go. We've got an hour and 15 min boat ride, but the boat leaves and returns to the mainland, so no worries about water taxi schedules. Luckily, we have 10 hours in port.
-
The skip to the head of tender line is really the best perk.

We will zip-line with Victor Bodden next week, at Mayan Jungle Canopy.
Does anyone know if we need to wear sneakers? Are sports sandals ok, so they won't fall off?
I searched, and can't find any info on this.
Thanks.....

sorry - double post
-
The niece will also need some monies for port-day meals/excursions/whatever.
-
We've had the Deluxe Oceanview before. Very spacious. I think 5 will be a little tight, but do-able.
We've had 4 adults in a regular Oceanview, and were fine.

The Dream usually sails out @ 4. This indicates the ship won't leave until after 5:30. ....but I did have some things to take care of before early dinner which I may not have enough time to accomplish now.
The Muster Drill may interfere with early dinner now.

Grand Turk is a very small island. You can rent a golf cart and tour the island yourself if you want. There is a nice light-house there.

For the casual nights, try to stick to a shirt with a collar, and not just a t-shirt.
platinum gift??

The bag is ok. Insulated for small cooler on bottom. Mesh on top with a small zip pocket. If you don't put weight in the cooler portion, it won't stand upright.
We got 3, and it's not something we would use again. So on the last evening, I took the 3 totes, and the 3 VIFP Dream 2014 pins, and our leftover Mardi Gras beads. Line for guest services was pretty long, so I offered the stuff to anyone who wanted them. Disappeared pretty quick. We were flying, and didn't need to pack extra stuff.
