  1. Lmao, I'm so glad others commented on this. When I first asked the Q I was hoping it wasn't something obvious. I guess in the US I see some thick and some thin rolls, based on brand and quality, so the TP here on Beyond doesn't stand out. Ditto for Europe. Not to paint the entire continent with the same brush, but talking specifically about Spain and Italy, I've always had US type TP. Maybe the rolls were a little smaller, but not more so than cheapo US products. But, I've never bought it from the grocery stores so could be completely different there. Also never sailed in Europe, so am unaware of how it may be on ships there.
  2. Wait times vary based on when and where you go. We had a 20min wait at Cypress one night. Another night there was a 45min wait at Normandie. For that, we decided to eat at Cosmopolitan which had no wait. And fyi, we've been able to order the specialties from any MDR regardless of where we are actually dining.
  3. I don't understand how this can be a thing...seems like X would want to serve as few drinks as possible if you have a drink package, not the other way around. Regardless, many of the drinks don't show up.
  4. This. Many drinks I order don't show. Often a bartender will log the first drink and then just serve me afterwards without entering anything.
  5. All the TP in our stateroom has been the same to me since the beginning... No large rolls but no super small either. Edited to say my wife has corrected me. She said she noticed them being smaller than normal. I guess that shows what I pay attention to and what I don't 😀
  6. Facial tissues I get and we sail MSC so am very familiar with that. I guess the less sheets thing never clicked to me because sometimes in the US cheapo TP is the same way. Also, rarely have I been in a grocery store. Anyway, thanks for the explanation!
  7. Lol, ok, now you have me wondering. I've been to most of Europe and for the life of me don't remember and differences in TP. What exactly do you mean?
  8. Well, I think that should have been made clear in your reply. The poster asked for close, not close if you had mobility problems. If you were answering from that perspective, you should have said so initially
  9. The one time we had to wait we did Eden, but you can pretty much go anywhere. Martini bar works. I found drink service in the MDRs to be great
  10. Having problems posting so apologies if this is duplicated. I'm on the sailing also and I agree with everything you said. However, I want to call out Arte. Most amazing thing I've seen at sea by far. Only thing that comes close are the production shows in 270 on the quantum class RCCL ships. My only complaint is that it was only for one day. I wanted to see it 2x 😀
  11. Got an email today from X... • Unvaccinated Guests 12 and Older: Must present a negative PCR or antigen COVID-19 test result taken within 2 days prior to sailing to board. Test may be self-test or supervised. So "self-test" is the key phrase here I think...
  12. I got mine today and it says the same - in the email. On the form it says: SUBJECT TO COMPLIANCE WITH BERMUDA'S COVID-19 TEST REQUIREMENTS But Celebrity's website (who I'm sailing on) is pretty clear about not needing testing. I think the reason the TA says that is *unvaccinated* travelers still need to test. Yes, you specify if you are vaxxed or not, but I'm guessing their IT isn't smart enough to do that so they just put in those catch--alls.
  13. If you mean are you *forced* to upgrade your room when adding CO, the answer is no. Furthermore, if you do decide to upgrade then you can pick the room (based on availability...i.e., it doesn't have to be random). For example, I upgraded from a VH to a specific VB, even though a VA was available. As for the code, I believe it depends on the length of the cruise and not the class. I think 14 days is the cutoff...14 or more, $15/day, less than 14 then $25/day.
  14. Thanks much....I just tried this and it worked perfectly.
  15. Hi, I will be using the transfers from FBC for the first time and had a few questions... 1) On pickup, do they still take your luggage directly from the bus/van/whatever to your cabin? If so, has anyone had problems with lost luggage? 2) On drop off, I assume everyone picks up their own luggage...is this correct? 3) On pickup, there is a person waiting with a sign by the baggage carrousels? 4) For a Newark pickup, does anyone have any info for how long you wait before heading to the pier? 5) Do we get a ticket or anything or just give our name when we are picked up? TIA
  16. I don't think it's offense at all...just redundant. The first couple of replies stated it has been this way for some time and then @Cruise Suzy pointed out where it was. No offense meant, was just wondering is there was some meaning I was missing.
  17. I'm not sure why you posted this. I think everyone on this thread agrees that HAL does this and it's disclosed. Was there some specific point you were trying to make?
  18. $60pppd isn't standard at all. I just got off a RCCL cruise and they held $200. Carnival did the same. I can't remember what Celebrity and MSC do, but it was something similar. I've never heard (until now) of a line charging $60pppd. Again, no one is questioning if HAL discloses this or not. But the reality is, if you are used to having things work one way, you don't always read every detail. And that is what makes CC invaluable - to me at least. When I got ready to check in, maybe I would have read it and maybe I wouldn't have. But now I know and am prepared.
  19. The *great* think about cruise critic is you learn stuff. I've never sailed HAL before, so had no clue about this hold. While it won't be a problem for me personally, I would have been *pissed* when I found out about it. Now I can slowly absorb the info and when I cruise it won't bother me at all 🙂 It's sort of like when I found out they count non-alcoholic drinks in the 15 drink limit. My first reaction was to be upset, but then I calmed down. I even learned some ways to mitigate this (from cruise critic posts). To me, it doesn't matter if it's been this way for 10+ or even 20+ years. If you are used to sailing on other lines that don't do this, it isn't even something you would think to look for. IMHO, this is *exactly* what makes CC great. Thanks for the info.
  20. It's official official now...you still have to pay $40pp, but no longer required to test...(for 10/25 and later...)
  21. You still have to pay the $40 but don't have to test. I know we've all know this was coming, but now the cruise lines are updating their websites so it's "official"
