  1. Thanks----know we will enjoy our cruise either way and maybe we will find out we like it that way too!
  2. Thanks---that would work the best so good to know. Still hoping we can change cabins if there are concellations but will just have to wait and see!
  3. I'ts cabin 7206. We rarely do room service and won't be traveling with others. Hoping maybe we can change at some point if there are cancellations
  4. Thanks---agree the closet access can be tight---had not thought of that!
  5. We are booked on a B2B on Reflection with a balcony cabin with the bed by the balcony. We would prefer the bed by the bathroom but none are available without changing cabins. Just wondering if anyone has had luck changing after final payment? Also, any advantages to the bed by the balcony? We have never had that arrangement. Thanks!
  6. Thanks---makes me feel a little better about it. We will be 24 days and lots of sea days. Yes, already hoping his side is by the window!
  7. We have always had a cabin with the seating area by the balcony and the bed closer to the bathroom/hallway. Doing a B2B and can only get the same cabin for both cruises that has bed by the balcony. Does anyone have experience with that arrangement---and if so, are there any advantages/disadvantages? It looks awkward. Know we should have booked earlier! TIA
  8. SO happy to hear they may be bringing back the grill station in Oceanview in the evening. The carving station is also a good option! Will continue to follow this as it is a big issue for me due to food sensitivities. And YES---I know I can go to the dining room but sometimes I don't want to do that after a long day
  9. Are you talking about the Pacific Princess? We loved that ship and so sad to see her go!
  10. I agree---also it was our impression on the Edge earlier this month that the crew were not happy and as BermundaBound2 said---embarrassed by the cutbacks. The question for us is what cutbacks are deal breakers--something everyone has to decide for themselves but it is disturbing to go expecting a certain level of service and find out that is no longer the case once onboard.
  11. Thanks again for absolutely THE BEST trip report ever! Enjoy Hawaii
  12. Thanks for your comments on the bed and the cabin. Your sense of humor is great and it was a treat to sail vicariously with you! Safe travels home and enjoy your time in Hawaii. I did email Celebrity about the Ocean View not having grill options in the evening and got a call back. Hopefully they will get enough feedback on it that they will have it again in the evening.
  13. oops---trying to respond --- how fantastic ! The crew really are great and I know they are not happy about the situation. We spoke to the maitre'd on the Edge as well as several other crew members and the Captain's Club concierge. Clearly they are not pleased so I'm sure they enjoyed being able to please you!
  14. Thank you so much for such a great review! We are booked on the Constellation for a B2B including a transatlantic for Oct/Nov and seriously reconsidering. We love the itinerary which is the reason we booked it but just came back from 11 nights on the Edge and really disappointed in Ocean View evening buffet. On a long trip we like to eat there and have the healthy choices of grilled to order so unless this changes we may cancel. Based on your review I assume the bed is comfortable? Since the cabins have not be refurbed that has been a concern too----we did a transatlantic on Royal a few years ago -- the ship was due for a refurb and the bed was so soft it was miserable despite all efforts by the cabin steward to remedy the situation. It has made us very wary of ships that are due to be refurbed. Not crazy about the shower curtain either but can live with that if I can get a good night's sleep. Thanks again for all the great info----glad you are enjoying your cruise!
  15. Yes as far as OVC---we did not use room service
  16. We just returned from our second cruise on the Edge and were shocked and really upset by the OVC dinner situation. I have not read through all of these posts but for everyone that loves the MDR good for you. We usually do a mix of both because we usually take long cruises and back to back cruises but frankly the food and the menu choices in the MDR have been so poor that it is not worth sitting there for an hour and a half (service being slow also). We totally get not offering a full buffet in the evening but our complaint is that there were no options for those of us that can't eat certain foods----we were on the Millenium for 28 days this spring and their evening buffet was not great but they always had the grill station where fish, chicken or steak was offered cooked to order as well as a pasta station done the same way. We have another 29 day cruise booked for later this year and are seriously reconsidering it if this is going to be the situation. After a long day in port we just sometimes want something light and maybe go to a show or listen to music and relax.
  17. Thank you ----that is good to know!!
  18. Several people mentioned using Travel Guard. I have used them in the past but never had to file a claim. The one time I used Allianz I did have a claim (not a large one) and they were very good to work with. In comparing them for an upcoming trip it looks like there is more coverage (Ie" medical and evacuation) with Travel Guard than with the Allianz plan that is the same price. Has anyone had experience with claims with Travel Guard?
  19. Does the self-test part of this make sense to anyone? I don't understand the thought process that came up with that idea.
