  1. I booked refundable air on Azamara and was told in writing that the air would be fully refunded to my credit card with no penalty fee. I have not seen the refund yet, however, I cancelled the air on March 11 and was told to expect the refund to take 30 days.

Since Azamara also uses choice air and is a RCCL company, I would expect they would follow the same conditions. We’ll see...

  2. I recall reading somewhere that Azamara said it would be 30 days for a refund to be processed. I did receive an email with the FCC part of the refund attached. Still waiting for the %refund that was in cash and the refund for My Choice Air flight on a cruise that was cancelled March 11..

Wouldn’t start worrying until at least 30 days.have passed

  3. Big kudos to Air France for refunding my miles and the entire amount of taxes (no cancellation penalty) immediately. I sent an email to Flying Blue describing my situation and it was answered within 24 hours. The miles were back in my account immediately and the taxes were credited to my credit card within three days.

thanks Air France for excellent customer service.

now Delta.. that is a different situation as they dont respond unless you are within 72 hours of departure.

ptrpanpens sounds like they forgot to attach your FCC certificate.

We have in the past received small FCC via email attachment.

Suggest you contact Azamara or your Travel Agent.

So far we have nothing following cancellation of 17 march cruise on 10 March.

Our TA did give us a much longer wait time than the 10 to 14 working days you were told to expect.

thanks. I am going to give it until the end of the week. If I dont get anything by then I will cntact my travel agent. I wasnt ecpecting anything this early anyway.

  5. Has anyone received a future cruise credit on a recently cancelled cruise? Was it on a letter sent by mail or in an email attachment?

i received an email from Azamara today referencing an attachment for future cruise credit on a cruise I cancelled last week, but there was no attachment in the email.

The last time I received a future cruise credit, a letter was sent by regular mail from Azamara which had the future cruise credit attached.

just wondering if anyone has had this experience on a recent cruise credit issued since the Coronavirus situation.

  6. I would not want to be on a ship if people start developing symptoms of Coronavirus. Even in a normal cruise,  people usually get the common cold, bronchitis or other respiratory symptoms even if it may not be the virus itself.

no, not a good place to be so hopefully everything ends up well.

  7. Just be sure to get all documentation in writing, even via a comprehensive email from the travel agent or cruiseline. I would not leave anything they said to chance without complete documentation.

i got an email with all imformation, including the person the travel agent spoke to. Supposedly they record telephone conversations.

After reading the 13 March travel advisory, I would prefer these notices state who can board instead of listing out all those exclusions.

Who is still left out there allowed to board a ship departing out of one of the affected countries?

Currently am booked on the 14 May Pursuit Lisbon to Southampton.   Flying in from Tampa connecting thru Amsterdam staying 2 nights in Lisbon prior to sailing.   I am traveling to Portugal, an exclusion country in mainland Europe;  thus, I would be denied boarding assuming this advisory continues beyond the next 30 days to cover 14 May departures.   Also, I would come into contact with quite a lot of people within six feet when that plane touches down in Amsterdam.

I was also on that sailing. Canceled on Monday. Not willing to risk getting sick, quarantined or worse. Too bad because it was a great itinerary and very cheap. Oh well.. another time.

Just re-read Azamara’s “Cruise with Confidence” policy and don’t see anywhere written you can get both a “cash” refund and FCC?  It clearly only says 100% FCC.  It does sound like some travelers were able to get both which was good for them.

All this being said, totally understand the frustrations and concerns with this situation.  We are scheduled for our 1st ever cruise, Azamara Journey, Italy Intensive, leaving June 4th.  “Bucket List” trip we have been planning (and saving) for 2 years. Not much we can do but wait it out and hope things improve for everyone.

i guess they must have updated their policy this morning. In any case, I wish you good luck and just remember that Italy will still be there next year (hopefully) and will probably need your tourist dollars more than ever. My friend who lives in Ravenna and is a tour guide there says things are very difficult for them. I plan to visit there as soon as it is safe to travel to lend support to their wonderful country and people.

This may not be a popular opinion, but IMO: You should NOT get both.  Either Cancel and get a 50% refund (standard cancellation policy) or cancel and take the 100% FCC using the “Cruise with Confidence” new policy.  You shouldn’t benefit (50% refund and 50% FCC) because of the world wide health and virus issue.

Thank you for your opinion. However, since Azamara’s original policy was to allow for a split in cash and FCC (if applicable) up until yesterday, they should have notified travel agents before they changed it so that cruisers could make an informed decision before cancelling a cruise.

There would have been no point in cancelling early to get the same 100% FCC I would have gotten anyway by waiting and I would not have done so under those circumstances. I did not cancel merely to benefit from Azamara’s new policy, but rather because I am concerned about the risks of traveling right now considering my personal circumstances,

In any case, if Azamara publishes a new policy, they should notify customers and travel agents of any substantive changes in a timely manner so people can decide the best course to take using accurate and current information.

I am in a similar 50% window and my agent yesterday said a 50% FCC and 50% cash and has been instructed to cancel.  I just checked the Azamara website and my cruise still shows.  I'll post if I hear anything useful.  It would make no sense to cancel now for a 100% FCC.

i agree that it makes no sense to cancel now for only FCC and would not have done so had I known. However, my travel agent fought with them and was able to get me the 50/50 split. If I were you, I would contact your travel agent immediately to make sure you get the 50/50 split as my agent had told me the same thing before she called Azamara this morning and found out they had changed their policy. So make sure you get what you are expecting and dont wait to check.

    Good luck

I am compiling a list of all the questions on this forum since we announced our Cruise With Confidence

I hope to have answers on Monday or Tuesday.

it appears that Azamara has changed their cancellation policy again this morning and is now offering only future cruise credit no matter how early you cancel a cruise departing in May. My cruise departs May 14 and I am still in the 50% window so was expecting 50% cash refund and 50% FCC. However, the Azamara agent told my TA that their policy was changed just this morning and all refunds would now be FCC only. I asked her to elevate this to a supervisor to clarify as I have found many of the Azamara agents do not know what they are talking about, however also want to bring this to your attention and to the attention of others on cruise critic.

Can you add this to the issues you are trying to clarify? This is giving me a very bad opinion of Azamara customer service even though the onboard experience is excellent.

    thank you,

    anne

  13. Today my travel agent contacted Azamara to cancel a cruise I booked sailing on May 14, 2020. Until March 15, I am in the 50% cancellation window on this cruise. However, he told her that there had been a change in the cancellation policy effective today and that rather than 50%cash refund and 50% FCC, the entire amount would be refunded in FCC. I am beyond upset with this, especially since they arbitrarily changed the terms of the policy with no notice.

i requested that she elevate this to a higher authority at Azamara and rescind the cancellation if I would only get FCC, even cancelling within the 50% window, as I might as well wait until the last minute to cancel under these circumstances

Bonnie,, can you please check on this as soon as possible? Has anyone else cancelled a cruise today under similar circumstances and received only FCC rather than a combination of cash refund and FCC?

    thank you

I don’t yet have the dollar amounts for refund and FCC, but will post when I get them.

    thanks, Appreciate this very much.

Thanks for this post Vana. We pulled the plug too and are pleased to be getting 25% refunded.

could those who have cancelled early and had some of your fare refunded, does the total refund (FCC + cash refund) equal the total amount you paid for your cruise, or were fees or other costs excluded. I understand that travel agents may take some penalty for cancelling.

    thanks in advance

  16. Just heard from a friend who said her credit was short about $368.00+ More or less so she has asked her travel agent to get clarification. I remember reading somewhere that passengers were still responsible for port fees and taxes so maybe this odd amount has something to do with that or with travel agent cancellation fees. Has anyone who cancelled had this same experience?

She did cancel in the 50% window and got half her deposit back in cash, contrary to what she was first told by an Azamara agent, who said it would all be on a FCC.

Would be nice if all this would be fully and clearly explained up front or in a QAndA.
