  1. While I have not stayed in the hotel I have been inside, it is a perfectly fine no frills hotel..nice lobby and clean rooms. You will be around a 10-15 min walk from Fort DeRussy Beach which is at the far end of Waikiki. The beach here can be quite narrow so I would recommend that you walk down the beach a bit towards the Hale Koa, here the beach is much wider.
  2. Volcanoes National Park and Rainbow Falls are both easily accessible from Hilo. I would rent a car so you can decide the amount of time that you want to spend in any particular location.
  3. Go to the original Roy’s in Hawaii Kai if you are looking for a view..also they are in the process of opening a Monkey Pod in Waikiki.
  4. I would try and get out of the Waikiki area, take a drive over to the windward side of the island and check out Ho’omaluhia Botanical Gardens, then maybe head to Waimanalo Beach for a relaxing beach day..another option would be to look into a excursion to the Kaneohe sandbar for some swimming and snorkeling.
  5. Plenty of other food trucks serving a wide range of items in Kahuku, behind Giovanni’s shrimp truck there is a great fried chicken sandwich truck called eighty chicken sandwiches.
  6. I live in Ala Moana and have used Nomi Health multiple times, the testing is quick and easy..just make sure you register for a appointment before showing up.
  7. Yes the winter months are whale season and it is awesome to be able to see the whales and if you don’t mind having possibly multiple days of rain and overcast weather then by all means come during the rainy season. I however would not recommend coming to Hawaii for the first time during the rainy winter months..but what do I know? Most people envision Hawaii as this warm sunny tropical paradise and most of the time it is.. but you are gambling on the weather in those months.. it can be rainy and surprisingly chilly with multiple days of overcast conditions.
  8. Lots of restaurants will be open and serving a thanksgiving menu, one of my favorite restaurants is Signature Prime on the 36th floor of the Ala Moana Hotel.. great food and amazing views.
  9. October to May is cooler then in the summer months, also our rainy season starts in November and last until April, I generally tell people who are looking for a warm sunny vacation to avoid coming to Hawaii December through February as we can get some fairly nasty weather.. but it certainly is hit or miss.
  10. There are companies that will ship the pineapple for you, if you are flying home from Hawaii you will also be able to buy pineapple in the terminal and carry it onboard the plane with you.
  11. Any chance you could post a photo of the menu at the Local, we will be on the Spirit in October and I’m curious if the menu is the same as the larger ships. Thank you.
  12. If you are looking for a good hike with some beautiful scenery checkout Ka‘ena Point on the northwest tip of Oahu, you will drive past some beautiful beaches that will not be overrun with tourists and the costal hike trail is one of my favorites.
  13. I agree Uber or Lyft is your best option, keep in mind Waikiki to Ko Olina will most likely cost $60+ one way.
  14. Just wanting to make sure I am understanding this, We are boarding our ship in Vancouver, therefore if we take a antigen test it needs to be 24 hours or less? Not the 48 hours or less as stated on the cruise line website?
  15. The summer months are our busiest months for tourism, so not that hard to believe that a ship sailing at 50% capacity is fully booked.
  16. Nothing in the local news here about the POA sailings being canceled, I watched her sail past last Saturday night. On a side note for anyone who is interested the Hilton Hawaiian Village is set to resume its weekly Friday night fireworks tentatively scheduled to restart the first week of June.
