  1. The MDR and buffet will be open for lunch. Cagneys is open for lunch but only for suite guests. The Spirit does not offer multiple entertainment venues like on the larger newer ships so you will not be able to prebook anything. However the Spirit is one of our favorite ships and I am sure that you will love her.

  2. okay... Can someone help us out with the math here?

We (three, but lets just say two because one of us is a three and a half year old) are booked for a 10 day cruise in an inside cabin because that's all we need, but with this inside cabin you can't get the promo that is going on right now.

If we switch to a oceanview, the minimum to be able to get the promotion, the cost of the trip goes up $340.

How many drinks are $340? Over the course of 9 days (the last doesn't count) for two people how much would we need to drink a day to make it worth upgrading our room to save money on drinks in the long run with the promo?

  3. We had a horrible butler on our Jade cruise. The first day he was as nice as could be. By the second day he would not even acknowledge us. We would say good morning or good afternoon and he would just keep on walking or just walk out of the room without saying a word. By the third day he stopped delivering the afternoon snacks to our room and our breakfast orders were going unfilled. I finally mentioned something to the concierge about it and she was horrified. By that evening we had a new butler and more food in our room then we could ever eat. At the end of the cruise we did still give our original butler a small tip.

  4. We took the hydrofoil also... unfortunately the weather was terrible when we were there. The sea was very rough and many many people were sick. The weather on Capri was horrible...40 mph wind and pouring rain.. we were there in the last week of April.

  5. My favorite was Miami to New Zealand (plane) then New Zealand to Australia(Plane also) Then a 9 day cruise to the Great Barrier Reef. After the cruise we flew to French Polynesia for a few days and then unfortunately we had to go home.

My second favorite cruise was Barcelona to Venice aboard the Spirit. We could not stop in Istanbul due to riots so we got diverted to Croatia, at first we were disappointed but once we arrived in Dubrovnik we fell in love with the city. We also loved Mykonos.

Third place goes to our 12 day roundtrip cruise out of Barcelona aboard the Jade. We got an upsell to the Owners Suite, plus we got to go to Italy, Greece, Turkey, Egypt and Malta.

We did a land trip to Hawaii and to be honest I was not really all that blown away. We stayed in Maui for a few days(our favorite island) then flew to the Big Island for a few days and finally ended our trip with a couple of days in Oahu. In my opinion Tahiti is everything you imagine Hawaii to be.

  6. If you're used to the newer NCL ships, lots of various dining venues and larger ships, the Century may not be your thing. The ships is the oldest, and smallest ship in the main fleet. It is leaving the fleet in April. Dining options are limited to:

    Buffet

    MDR

    Muraon ("Fine French")

Aqua Spa (small buffet in indoor pool)

    Pool Grill

There is also a small coffee shop.

Food is very subjective, but letting us know what types of things you prefer might help.

I have not looked at the itinerary, but it is probably a one off sailing as it is not long before Century makes its way to its new owner in mid April in Singapore. To us, a unique itinerary would probably be an advantage but probably not enough to get us to sail on Century.

While most areas are relatively well maintained, we did see lots of areas that could use maintenance this past March and the ship does show some decent wear and tear. However, some things will be nicer than NCL ships as there are real teak decks on some balconies as opposed to the rubber grating NCL uses. It will be less Vegas and more traditional ocean liner if that makes sense.

It will be a different experience, but it doesn’t mean it will be bad. Knowing what you liked or disliked about NCL and RCCL would help provide input.

    Happy sailing,

    Jenna

We always book our cruises based on the itinerary not the ship, we have never sailed on any of NCL's megaships so I do not think we would mind a smaller ship. We found the service on Royal Caribbean to be horrible, the staff were rude and seemed uninterested in helping the guests. On more then one occasion we had staff members flat out lie to us. I know food is very subjective and understand that some people love the MDR but we have never had a good meal in the MDR on NCL or RCI. I have heard the food is better on Celebrity though. We generally forgo the evening shows in favor of having a drink or two in the casino. I do like the casinos on RCI more then the ones on NCL. What we like about NCL is that they make us feel special, the staff has always been so warm and attentive and we love the multiple dining options. We generally try to sail in a suite when we cruise so that could be why our experience with NCL has been so wonderful.

  7. We have sailed all three lines: once with each NCL and Royal Caribbean and many times with Celebrity. We found NCL to be the most casual of the three. Although RCI and Celebrity are laid back' date=' they are just not what I would call "casual". People will dress nicer for dinner on RCI and Celebrity, and it tends to be a little less "hectic" on Celebrity, so if you like to be really casual and enjoy a busier ship you may not like the evening atmosphere as much. The smoking policy is also very restrictive on Celebrity, so if you're a smoker that may be a deal breaker for you. The food and service on Celebrity we have found to be superior to both NCL and RCI.[/quote']

Thank you for your insight. We are not smokers so that is not a issue for us. We generally eat in the specialty restaurants aboard NCL so we are used to getting dressed up for dinner so that will not be a problem for us either. In the evenings we like to grab a drink and play in the casino.

  8. My partner and I are thinking about taking a Vietnam & Philippines cruise on the Celebrity Century this coming March. We have cruised mostly with NCL and have been very pleased with them. We have also cruised with Royal Caribbean a few times and have been less then thrilled with them. How does the service and food on Celebrity compare to NCL/RCI? Is the atmosphere more formal? Has anyone sailed this itinerary?
