  1. I am flying to Honolulu tomorrow and supposed to board NCL's Pride of America on Saturday. There are threats of TWO hurricanes (Isele and Julio) headed toward Hawaii. If Delta does fly to Honolulu tomorrow, do I assume that POA will sail, as planned, even with the possibility of a hurricane? I know that cruise ships often sail "around" the storms. I never expected this kind of situation sailing to Hawaii. It's far more expected in the Caribbean. Any advice?

Hurricane Iselle is forecast to be a weakening tropical storm as it approaches Hawaii. Saturday will probably not be a nice day. I can't see delta canceling your flight to Oahu tomorrow.. the storm is not forecast to begin affecting Oahu until Friday night. Julio is currently forecast to pass north of the Hawaiian Islands.. I would bring some sea sickness pills as I would imagine the seas will be rough.

  2. Great. Are you on the Dec 5 cruise? We are doing a few days in Rio, and then a few in Buenos Aires. Not sure when we will next be in SA, so thought we would get Rio in there.

Yes we are booked on the Dec 5th 2015 cruise on the Norwegian Sun. We haven't really started planning it yet. Once December rolls around and the flights open up we will start our planning.

  3. We bit. We are taking this cruise in December 2015. We like the laid back feel of Norwegian. Thanks for the suggestions in Buenos Aires. Any good suggestions for hotels? We are two early fifties bears.

We also prefer the laid back atmosphere of Norwegian and are booked on the same cruise as you.

  4. We did an Australian cruise out of Sydney on Royal Caribbean. We had mostly Aussies and Kiwis. The food and activities were very similar to any other cruise we have been on. The main dinning room did serve crocodile one night though. We spent a few days in Brisbane, one thing you have to do is go to the Lone Pine Koala sanctuary. We also spent a week in New Zealand prior to the cruise and loved every minute of it. Its only a 3 1/2 hour flight from Brisbane to Auckland.

  5. I guess it's because the Western Med cruises go to Morocco. Last year we did the Eastern Med to Turkey and we kept our passports the whole time.

Our cruise did not go to Morocco. We went to France, Italy, Greece, Turkey & Croatia. We were told the reason they were taking our passports was because of our stop in Turkey.

  6. I can not find anything on line about several questions I have about this trip. I am booked for this summer. two major issues.

    1. Both the ship and the land tour stop in Florence, what is the best cruise excursion to take to avoid duplicating what we will see on the land tour.

    2. Does anyone know what day is the laundry special on the Epic, can not take enough clothes for two week, need laundry done either on the ship or our last day in Rome.

    thanks

The ship will dock in Livorno. Instead of going into Florence why don't you go to the Cinque Terre, its a UNSECO world heritage site. We were just there about two weeks ago and I can tell you that it is absolutely beautiful.

  7. Can't wait for tomorrow to come. Just hope they don't change their minds on the release dates. Have found out in the past couple of days that Royal is returning to do 14 day ATH sailings in South America also, so that means 5 lines for me to pick from. Hope that means that the itinerary is profitable to all the lines and that they may get competitive on pricing.

Not showing up on the NCL site as of yet.

  8. I like having our vacation paid for before we ever set foot on the ship, so I always buy about $1000.00 of OBC. We always spend over a 1k on the cruise but at least the bill at the end of the trip is relatively small. The OBC certificates have always been waiting in our cabin when we arrive. Before we leave for the trip I have NCL email me an amenities invoice so I have a record of the OBC I purchased.

  9. We got a letter in the mail the other day saying NCL wanted to award us a free 8 day cruise and the only thing we need to pay were the taxes. We were to call a 877 number to redeem the cruise... safe to say that letter went directly into the trash.

  10. I have been having the same problem. I am not doing a b2b though. I called NCL several times and was told the problem was affecting only certain sailings and would be fixed by last weekend. They had the problem fixed briefly on Sunday but now the problem appears to be back.

  11. I just gave up after 15 minutes on the general number. I'd been excited just to get on hold as I'd been calling shore excursions like a radio contest for two solid hours. I am going to email them.

Very unhappy that my $$$ was not refunded for Tunis excursions booked last October. When the port was canceled by NCL, immediate refunds should have been issued. They were not. Someone linked the policy that indicated you should get a refund but one should not have to spend half a day trying to get it before running up more $$$$ on the credit card for a replacement excursion. And another credit card bill will not arrive until after we return from the cruise, so I'd not know if or when they finally got around to issuing it.

I had a similar issue when NCL changed our port of call from Izmir to Kusadasi. Instead of a refund they just applied the money from the canceled excursion to the new excursion. I am surprised they did not offer this option to you.

  12. If someone purchases the UDP I do not understand why NCL would not allow you to order multiple entrees? From what I have gathered you can dine in several specialty restaurants per night if you wish. If they allow this then why not allow multiple entrees? Its essentially the same thing.

  13. The same thing has been happening to me. I called NCL yesterday as I was a little concerned since I sail in 36 days. I was told its a internal problem affecting a few sailings and they are working to fix the problem, he went on to say the problem should be resolved within a day or two.

  14. Sometimes waiting for the price to drop does not work. We booked our room category a year in advance and then a few months later the price went up $400pp. About a month after the price increase our room category was sold out. Now we are a little more then a month from our sail date and the cruise is sold out.
