  1. Hi...my husband and I will be on this sailing. We are a retired couple from Manhattan......first time on this ship! It's a 15 minute cab ride for us to the pier.
  2. @AFS1970 @Haljo1935 Thanks for the reports! Yes, most likely, unlesss something unforeseen comes up, we'll be on this ship in Jan. As I said earlier...I'll bring along a tray for added convenience.............
  3. And probably the most expensive frozen hot chocolate ever. But that (don't know if it's still there) was more of an expensive hang out for rich locals and private school kids.
  4. After careful consideration and postponing cancellation....right now it's a go. I haven't heard more complaints about slippery floors...but when you're warned, you're more careful. @Old Fart CruisersThanks for the tray idea. I'm gonna look for one.
  5. "Ellen's" has been around forever....a real tourist trap. But the lines are long....all the way down the block, as far as the eye can see.
  6. Since we are on the subject: I have items in my cart. I would like to use credit card points to pay. How do I do this? On checkout, it gives me the option to use obc. If I enter my carnival card info (I didn't try this yet...don't want to mess things up)....will it give me the option to use points? Or, if not....how is it done?
  7. Everything's gone up post pandemic....and sizes/service has gone down. Why should a cruilseline be different? Pay more, less service, cutbacks....... I'm a value shopper....want the most for my buck. I may be finished with NCL because I found greener pastures. I'm also finished with most of my local restaurants....higher prices, slower service, smaller portions. That's just the way it is. IMHO....you're paying with a devalued currency. What you got for $$ in 2019, now costs "$$$ new dollars".
  8. A picture of what.....what guest services said? As long as you confirm...that's good enuf for me! Enjoy your last night on board.
  9. @JIMESOPUSGlad I can say "I told you so" about YC. Question: Guest services said you can apply the deposit from a canceled to to another one. Was that person talking about YC? If true, good to know....
  10. I'm not saying I'd be happy with $200 (unfair to ask me...I hate cold weather....I'd never go to Greenland) but can a cruise really be called "a destination cruise" with all the variables that could happen? People should be aware of this when they book....ports are at the mercy of the weather etc. IMHO...if you want to see Greenland, or AnyLand....plan a trip to that land. At best, you can get a couple of hours and the bragging rights that you stepped foot there on a cruise. Planning a cruise for any specific port is risky.... Maybe @Eli_6 couple lead a class action (joking....)
  11. @Eli_6I never heard of the Dunning Krueger effect, but now that I know it, I'm gonna be using it a lot....lol.
  12. I had some internet issues and the YC concierge desk was able to help. Glad you're enjoying the cruise.
  13. @mking8288As an official YC cheerleader, the cost of an interior YC is about equal to a sailaway balcony on NCL. And you really don't need a balcony....a dedicated YC elevator is about 30 seconds away....to the 30 second ride to the YC pool deck. There is no comparison between the experiences. We did an inside guarantee on NCL a few years ago (5?)....and after that disaster of a cabin, never again (the tiniest cabin ever with no storage space). Just wasn't worth it to save $$$. We have a CCL to the Bahamas booked for Jan....after that it' "YC Forever"! DH is using a cane now...and I have to compliment NCL employees coming to his assistance just about everywhere. Also...fellow passengers were always offering him their seats (lol....obviously not locals). He used the WC embarkationj, but it was a long wait. For disembarkation, we saw the line waiting the wheelchairs...so he walked off (slowly). But the bottom line is, YC was just oh so much better. To note...I had looked into the Haven for the Escape sailing but you don't get nearly as much as what the YC offers....and for the cost, no thank you!
  14. @Eli_6I will admit....Carnival messed up on a good pr opportunity. Offer a generous FCC...(raise the prices of course)....and people won't want to miss out on using a credit.
  15. Well...I personally would have done my research and found out that I booked an old boat that was about to go into dry dock....going to Greenland, and I would have not booked the cruise. It's called "personal responsibiltiy" and I'd be angry at myself...for being stupid.
  16. Even so....the cruise line really owes you nothing, Historically, I've found Carnival to be more generous than other cruiselines.
  17. Do you think another cruiseline would have "sailed thru the storm"? Ports are not guaranteed. Period. If you want "a port"....book a land vacation. It's just luck. We were on NCL Escape 9/3 to Canada...it was like cruising in the Caribbean; perfect weather. The next week, same ship, same itinerary....missed 2 ports and floated off the coast of NYC for 2 additional sea days.
  18. People who live in houses are unaware that they are making noise. Knock on the door and ask if they oculd be more mindful.
  19. @mking8288When you met the car service, where exactly did they pick you up? Second floor of terminal?
  20. @Crusin KarenIf we go, we'll be getting on when you're getting off. (Decided to wait until last minute to cancel) I'm really probably overthinking this...... I see you responded on my separate thread. Thanks!
  21. Most likely they'll match you to gold... The only Diamond benefit is a meal....no extra discounts. MSC doesn't allow non YC passengers into the YC....even to look around. If you can...go for YC interior. It's the best value at sea...in my opinion anyway.
  22. @Haljo1935Will be following this closely..... "To cancel or not to cancel" Jan cruise depends on you! If you can...please report back about lines in the buffet and slippery conditions on the Lido Enjoy your trip!
  23. But NCL's been phasing out good entertainment....imho. Putting in magicians and comediens, audience particiapation games. Last week on the Escape we skipped the theartre several evenings. MSC concentrates on "non verbal" entertainment because of the multi-language issue. For the record...I'm a B'way fan....once a month or so. I have no issue with the quality of the MSC singers/dancers...or the variety. Because we were in YC...and could just come and go into the theatre, we saw each production twice back in April Entertainment is subjective....not everyone likes the same thing. That's why (on land) there are so many choices.
