  1. Thanks....I checked the videos/cabins and I also took a look at the lido. The lido configuration (entertainment etc in the rear and the covered pool) should mean a more peaceful mid-ship lido experience. So I upgraded from a cove balcony to a lido balcony.
  2. That means it's there...but either it's too early to reserve or all the advance reservations are full. Book it as soon as you get on the ship!
  3. Touche.... And I've already said..."if I want to see a bunch of guys sitting around drinking beer and getting drunk, I could just go to any bar on the ship"!
  4. You should be able to see if it's still on the schedule with your cruise reservation. But it probably won't have the times and dates.
  5. I'm that rare person. Beer drinking/drinkers holds no appeal to me. The first time we saw it (paying extra) DH was brought up on stage for the beer...so that part was fun (for him). I'm sure we'll sit thru it again in Sept...just because it's there. On the other hand....I go to B'way/Lincoln Center about twice a month. That being said, I don't do cruises for "award winning entertainment". As long as the cast can sing better than me, and dance better than me, I'm good.
  6. So, honestly...if I flew in from somewhere to go on a cruise and this happened....I'd never fly in for a cruise again. I can guarantee....DH would have said "Let's just check into a hotel for the week" after sitting around without food for a couple of hours. I'm not even gonna ask about "the bathroom situation".
  7. And...."Choir of Man" is the only show on my upcoming cruise. Boring........
  8. Has anyone stayed in this area? Opinions.......... The reason I am considering this is for the lounge area. Hopefully more relaxed and pleasant than with the general population. DH isn't what he used to be and I'm trying to avoid the crowds. Thanks
  9. I agree....but everyone cruises for their own reasons. If you take "those reasons" away....what's left? I know most people don't care about entertainment and buffet...we do. People care about drinks ....we don't. If there were cuts for bar hours or offerings...there'd be a lot of "lowering of expectations".
  10. Since our "MSC inside YC" which was no more expensive than a balcony on NCL....we've become Yacht Club converts. I can't speak for "the masses on MSC"...but in the YC, you are treated like royalty. It is soooo worth the money...even more so in light of cut backs.
  11. That's where I get mine.....I don't buy them onboard any longer. I wait until I want to book a cruise...and go to FB. You should have no problem selling them there.
  12. We were totally spoiled by MSC Yacht club in April (no...Haven doesn't offer what we liked about YC...so Haven isn't an option). What we like about NCL is entertainment and buffet. We have our annual "Canadian Voyage" booked on the Escape in Sept....and I'm really afraid it's going to be a huge disappointment.
  13. I believe I made lemonaide out of lemons....... My choices were: Book same itinerary (8 days) and cabin...no rate increase. That would have been a YC Interior in August...too many kids and hurricanes Book a shorter (7 days) and not as good itinerary...YC interior...in May...costing a couple hundred more than my original booking Book the 11 day Caribbean April...YC/Balcony...at a cost of pp/per day...just a couple of dollars more than the YC interior 7 day So...as you suggested...I took the 11 day. I guess it's a win/win....MSC is getting more of my money, but I'm getting the best of the options available
  14. I'd agree with you....but....if you have room service, the whole concept of the buffet is gone!
  15. Not gonna flame you...lol. But retired people (and many cruisers are retired) get up later than working people. And since we've been cruising about 20 years...and the breakfast buffet was always open later...well, you know what they say about old dogs and new tricks..........
  16. Everyone has their own schedules...and my DH's breakfast schedule is "as late as possible". I usually get my "early breakfast" (I'm the only one in O'Sheehan's), go to the casino, and pick him up at 10 for the buffet. This will not go over big with him, (It's about 10:15 am now; he's still in bed.) On top of this, with lack of what we call entertainment.......our next NCL cruise will probably be our last one.
  17. Born, raised...still living in the city....and hope to die here! IMHO...it's not the NYers that are the problem....it's those from the surrounding areas "The Manhattan People" are about as sophisticated as they come......
  18. On the Meraviglia it was simple to figure out. But you have to walk with confidence, and act as if you belong.
  19. So...you suggest I take my overcoat with me and go to Canada, instead of sitting at the YC pool deck, in the sunshine having freshly grilled fish???? FYI...I'm not switching to a summer cruise to the Bahamas either....that's the only one with the same itinerary. Too many kids and too many hurricanes.
  20. Huh....what problem? The only "problem" I ever had was trying to understand why it's necessary to cancel and rebook if there's a price drop. Otherwise...I'm a YC cheerleader!
  21. @Illbcruzn4lifeI don't understand. If you're booked on the cruise....why is your cabin available to book? Since they're giving you the extra days....don't you get to stay in the cabin? Oh yeah...this is MSC....where nothing makes sense!
  22. @coscabI would gladly take that change. They think I'm going to Canada instead of the Bahamas. Nope....
  23. No more 30% off YC. Now it's nothing off YC...and 10% everywhere else. I was in an interior Meraviglia YC in April and loved it. We don't drink (I had a couple of cokes, one glass of wine; DH had a daily glass of wine) and aren't really into "cruise food" (I like spicy...cruise food is generally too bland for me). But, having an individually prepared pizza delivered to me on the pool deck superceded "the fine dining experience"...lol. And there was always something at every meal. There's a grill buffet for breakfast and lunch on the pool deck...wonderful. Freshely squeezed OJ in the morning with my french toast! Freshly grilled fish for lunch! The space of the cabin is limited....but unless you need three changes of clothing daily, you'll be fine. We did not miss having a balcony; the YC elevator got us from cabin to pool deck in about a minute. The service....excellent. Go for the YC...you won't regret it.
  24. @PharmacyRxJust curious...but do you know where Non YC guests stayed during the delayed disembarkation? I am not picturing a pretty sight! Was food available?
