  1. The point is...is they don't offer what I enjoy, there are plenty of other choices for me.
  2. I like b''way style shows....Las Vegas type reviews. Yes... it's a preference thing and they've dropped my preferences. If I want to see guys sitting around drinking beer...I can see that at any bar on the ship!
  3. I'm on the Escape in Sept....booked it a long time ago at a great rate. I may be "finished with NCL" because entertainment is important to us...decent entertainment. I don't consider "Choir of Man" entertainment (saw it twice....didn't care for it either time) and comedians are just not my thing. DH is not a native speaker of English...he doesn't "get them". I'm just praying that the buffet is still good. Or I hit a jackpot in the casino! Or, there's a singing juggler....
  4. Actually, I really liked the shower in our cabin. There was no problem adjusting the temperature of the water, the pressure or the angle. I don't remember exactly why I liked it...but I remember telling DH that it was "the easiest shower to use" on any of our cruises.
  5. The size of the cabin itself was decent and the storage was adequate for us, but we travel light. If you need multiple outfits/matching accessories every day...you may want to cut back. Again....dress code, what dress code? Leave the gown and tux at home... For us, it isn't the cost of the cruise, it's the value for our money. Why pay more when you get (in my opinion more) the same experience for less.
  6. Never been in Haven, but was in an interior Yacht Club. On the Meraviglia, there was a "dedicated mini elevator" (just did YC floors)...so it took less than a minute from cabin to pool deck. Absolutely no need for a balcony. The buffet/grill by the pool for breakfast/lunch was wonderful. There was freshly grilled seafood! And, customized pizza, delivered at the pool was....what can I say!!! I am afraid YC spoiled me. I was thinking of upgrading our Sept Escape/Canada cruise to Haven....but there were too many things that we enjoyed in the YC that wouldn't be available in the Haven. As to dress code....what dress code! The price of the YCI was less than a "guarantee balcony" (no perks) on NCL....same week. MSC to Bahamas vs NCL to Bermuda. ETA-YC includes drinks and 24/7 wifi. I don't think those are included in the Haven unless you have "Free at Sea".
  7. DH is not the world's greatest tipper...and we don't tip until the end. Our butler/asst butler/the entire YC staff were fantastic. We had an interior YC....butler/staff may have even thought we were going to be too poor to tip. Even the "last breakfast"....I had syrup for my French toast and DH had his "2 complete breakfasts". It has to do with attitude....and how you treat the staff.
  8. BlerkOne must be busy with the cats! I just booked 2295. Based on my research, I think that one has minimal (if any) obstruction from lifeboat overhang.
  9. I'm right with you there. As to cleaning a cabin twice a day....do people clean their homes twice a day? I also don't toss a towel into the laundry "just because I dried myself off with it once".
  10. I believe the balconies were sold out on my 4/29 sailing. We were on Deck 16....walk out of the cabin and you're in the lounge! I liked the location so much I booked an interior on the same deck for May 2024. The price differential for the balcony isn't worth it to me....unless the price was really right. IMHO....interior YC cabins are the best bargain at sea!
  11. Have a great trip! We were in an interior a few weeks ago. For us, the storage was more than adequate, but we travel light (one carry on each). If you need "multiple daily outfits with co-ordinating accessories" you might want to cut back a bit. One thing about the interior....when you leave your cabin there's a "mini elevator...just for the YC". You'll be upstairs, at the pool deck, in less than a minute. We did not miss having a balcony...not at all. They have breakfast and lunch buffets on the pool deck...freshly grilled dishes brought right to your table. After doing YC once....I'll always do YC!
  12. There comes a point in everyone's life where they appreciate the value of a prune!
  13. Thanks for the honest review. I'm booked for the 9/3 Escape...and have been toying with "if I should bid on the Haven". We recently got off the MSC Meraviglia Yacht Club (I only booked YC due to DH's health) and had a wonderful experience. Service couldn't have been better (ie...they knew to bring DH a large bowl of prunes in the morning) and, although I'm sure there were some snobs on board, I didn't meet any. Based on your review, we'll just stick with "the masses".
  14. I was going to suggest getting together for dinner etc pre-cruise....but you don't need that now. You made the right decision. I've had "strange roommates" a few times when I was much younger. Some good experiences....mostly not too good.
  15. @BlerkOneSorry I'm late to this party and I don't want to read thru 11 pages right now. Question: Entertainment-Is there a theatre? If so, is it a real theatre or a convertible one (where you can rearrange the seating...just chairs set up)? And also..if so...have there been shows there? Thanks...now I'll read thru the 11 pages (just decided that maybe a trip on this ship is in my near future) PS-I like those cat pics!
  16. @OttawaJohn The crowd may be a "colleges are out for summer" thing. It's not a NY thing. Question about the buffet: Did you not like the choices, quality etc....or did you just need to get away from the chaos? I have an Escape cruise coming up....and I am really looking forward to the buffet. Sorry you missed Norfolk. Although most people don't care about it...there is a nice battleship right next door. We spent a few hours there last June (?) on the Joy to Bermuda.
  17. My color/cut was also excellent. The facial was great. I go for "deep tissue" massages at home and the one on the ship was too gentle for me. They still have some spa specials...but imho, still overpriced (compared to what I pay at home).
  18. I had a color/cut on the Meraviglia back in 2019 for about $60....but they cut those great deals out (I also had a massage and a facial on that cruise for $50 each). A few weeks ago on the Meraviglia they had a color/styling special for "not too much" (I forget the price but it was under $100) on the second or third day. It was a good price...but I wasn't in need of a coloring.
  19. To make life easier for DH (and therefore me) I want to order a wheelchair for embarkation/disembarkation in NYC. Is this something I do when I get to the port, or something I need to reserve in advance? Any info will be appreciated. TIA
  20. Also born here. Always lived here and will die here. In the old days people from the Bronx would boast that they were the only boro on the mainland.
  21. And that's why I booked almost a year out. Half of the interiors were already gone!
  22. If you want to put the whole cost on the credit card with insurance....cancel and rebook. The refunds aren't taking too long (mine was less than 2 weeks).
  23. We had an inside. It took less than one minute to get to the YC pool deck. Did not miss the balcony at all. The cost was less than for an NCL guarantee balcony for the same week.
