  1. espmass--

one thing you learn early when you sail O is to leave your guilt behind....no use sailing on a wonderful ship with divine food and amazing staff/crew and feeling guilty about it.

Save it for when you get home.  I call my extra lbs  a 'souvenir'

if you dine at Terraces, you can go to the Grill Station and the crew will grill a wide variety of meats for you.

You can also go to the wok station and have them add broccoli, or onions, or pineapple, etc to whatever else is going on.  I have even had them wok a chicken breast and then gone to the salad bar and stocked up on carrots, broccoli, etc and brought it back to them to add.  The Wok Dude is wonderful.

that said, if you ever sail ATWs, you DO have to really watch the weight so join us on the track and at the salad bar!

    Your World Your Way....at Terraces!

  2. yes, ATW22 booking has disappeared for many of us.  Doubt they are cancelling.

Appears from the O website there is a hole from Insignia's arrival in LA on Jan 6 until Tokyo on March 19.

  3. I hope that O does NOT sail SA for ATW22.  We are to be onboard for that cruise as well as ATW23 which has always listed SA on its itinerary.

There would be no reason then for us to sail ATW23 even though '23 was to be a reunion cruise for those of us who were on the terminated 2020 ATW.

ATW22 as a mystery cruise does not appeal to some of the passengers and floating through beautiful beaches is not hugely appealing to those who have beautiful beaches out their front doors or within walking distance of home.

I truly feel for the O staff as they try to create an itinerary based on the health of nations around the world 4-10 months from now--information they obviously don't have.

  4. Perhaps it would help to know that O often divides up their Overland groups into smaller groups with their own guide upon reaching the destination.   There have been very few 'big bus' overlands in our experience.

Rarely were we 'herded' on our adventures.  Put into a bus, a plane, a train--yes, but upon arrival at Machu Pichu, the Great Wall, or Iguazu Falls we were 'turned loose' and told when to report back to a predetermined location.  Total freedom then to do as much or as little as we wished at the site.

And O will ascertain the interest in an Overland and, if possible, create more small groups.  For instance on ATW23 there are now 3 groups for the Galapagos.

I too, recommend this site for new travelers.  How else are they to learn --if not from others.  (sorry, old teacher here)

  5. ATW16 we signed up for 5: Beijing & Xian, Taj Mahal, Angkor Wat, Safari, Began.  As has been stated--1st class all the way.  Nothing to worry about at the airport--we identified our luggage and nice people took care of it for us.

ATW20 we signed up for Iguazu Falls and Machu Pichu.  There were others but covid reared its very ugly head and we left ship and Rio very quickly.  Hoping that ATW22 and 23 sail.....we shall see.  We do have Overlands reserved for those as well.

Also investigate the pre-cruise and post cruise excursions offered which are like Overlands.

  6. We are HUGE fans of O's overlands.  The hotels chosen are part of the adventure.

Cocktails on the roof of the hotel in Delhi, swinging bridges to cross on our way to room at Iguazu Falls, and  Phinda Lodge with own dip pool to 'recover' from a safari, Beijing hotel that overlooked the Forbidden City....just a few examples.    (and you know the food is ok for our tummies)

Guides are excellent, drivers are professional, and we know that the ship will ALWAYS wait for us.  No worries about really anything.  I highly recommend the Overlands.

  7. here's what I've discovered:

go to My Account, click on it and find the cruise you will next sail

find & click on "manage this booking"

at right under "booking # "  find "guest registration forms" and click

go towards bottom of page and find "vaccine attestation"

and beneath that you will see the "online check in" protocol that they want us to do.

Since we are still several months from ATW22 and not knowing the itinerary I'm not in a hurry to do this part yet!

  8. We stayed pre-cruise at the Hotel Taj Mahal which is a heritage 5 star hotel in Mumbai and is gorgeous.  From there we could walk to many places in Mumbai and felt safe doing so.

The overland that Oceania does to the Taj Mahal is wonderful and we rec'd it highly.

  9. Hunding--

your response suggests that ALL O cruises are cancelled going to ports in Asia, Au,  & NZ through June, 2022.  Is that what you meant?  Or just Nautica's?

We're on ATW22 and what you have written is concerning and so far none of us have received word from O or TAs that major parts of our itinerary have been cancelled.

We are reconciled to missing Au & NZ which is the month of Feb but Asia is the months of March and April.   So....any info you have would be appreciated.

  10. in 2018 we wanted to do a week in Berlin & Munich and then fly to Dublin and board Nautica for 2+ months.

We shipped our bags using Luggageforward from the US to Dublin to the ship and it was waiting for us in our cabin. We took the bags back home with us.

FWIW:  Brazil will not permit luggage services in their country (or at least this was true in 2020)

Covid-cancelled ATW20 we were faced with handling all our luggage in Rio airport and in US airport.  For less agile passengers it was awful.  (Bless O--they really tried to get Brazil to waive the rule but they refused)

I agree with JanCruz  "best thing we ever did was start shipping our luggage"....

  11. ATW16 it was Luggage Free; ATW20 it was Luggage Forward.  Both were excellent.  I feel sure O uses the company that can give them the best deal!

we won't know which company O will use for ATW22 until probably sometime in November -December

  12. you don't have to have a smart phone to log into MyChart.  I don't have it loaded onto my phone for personal reasons.

I keep nothing in my phone.  In case it's ever stolen I won't freak out....nor does Mr. Wonderful, my resident geek.

It's in my laptop, however, and is the chart information system my doctor uses.
