  1. Sitting in my hotel in Ravenna having had an interesting journey here. Eventually got to Heathrow T5 as our motorway was closed in sections at the time we left home. It was a case of back roads etc but we arrived only 15 mins late. As the T5 security staff strike was on we had a bit of trepidation prior to arriving at the airport. However, the folk who manned the strikers posts did a great job manoeuvring everyone through and although it was extremely busy we go through with a bit of time to spare. The flight was uneventful. Organised a transfer with the hotel and that went very smoothly.  Ravenna is a nice place with a lot of history which we will explore tomorrow.

I received an email tonight from RCI confirming that we will be sailing from Ravenna on Sunday. Not sure why the email was delivered on the Friday before the sailing on the Sunday but still relieved about it. Weather here is stunningly gorgeous with hot, sunny weather which is fab

  2. My family and I are flying out of Heathrow on Friday when the strike starts. I’ve been told by a friend in border force that the disruption is more significant coming back in to the UK apparently. I hope that proves to be true and we get through security on Friday morning painlessly. If I get a chance I’ll post here how we get on Seagbrook

  3. Checked with my hotel this morning and the motorways are all open again and she confirmed that the train station should open tomorrow. That’s good news in regard to the ships sailing from Ravenna.

Celebrity have not changed their plans and have so far advised that they will be sailing from Ravenna on 25th this week. Just got to keep those fingers crossed

  4. Ha ha that’s great.

Just phoned Royal Caribbean and as I expected there was no update. Guy was trying to fob me off that they will transfer guests from Ravenna to Trieste. When I told him that would take at least 5 hours he re-read his script and changed it from Venice to Trieste ( takes 2.5 hours he said). He’s been told that the cruise on 28th is as planned, going from Ravenna.

I’ve what’s app’ed my hotel in Ravenna this morning and they have advised that some of the back streets in Ravenna area have now cleared and are open again. However, the railway line between Bologna and Ravenna is still closed. I’m presuming that they’ve had landslides as well as flooding to contend with. Clearing that from a railway track will take time I guess. He also told me that I’ll get an email if things change re embarkation. I asked him when that would happen and he said if arrangements change and if they don’t I won’t get an email. I told him that was absurd being left on the hook so to speak. I’ll phone back on Monday as I will not be fobbed off easily.
