  1. I’ve now been advised that my daughter and her family are on the waitlist for the early main dining room on Explorer. My wife and I have been transferred from MTD to the 6pm session. We had MTD booked for all of us but we’ve been moved and they haven’t. My question is how successful is being on the waitlist for the early dining. I suspect that it’s dependent on others cancelling I guess and they may keep some tables free for just this occurrence.  It would be useful to know if others have been successful. It’s for two adults and three kids. Thanks

  2. Spoke with my TA and they have confirmed that my wife and I have been given an early dining room slot. My daughter and her family have been put on the waitlist for the early dining (6pm). Anyone know how likely it is that we will be successful and get the additional 6pm slot so we are all together. I’m guessing how long is a piece of string here

  3. Cruise is definitely not cancelled but it’s really strange that my wife and I are cancelled from MTD and my daughter isn’t. Looked at MTD reservations on the app and they are sold out now. Looks like the cruise is full. Will phone my TA today as they don’t come out of this smelling of roses. This should have been arranged when I booked it in early 2022.

  4. Just checked the emails and on the cruise planner and the cancellations are only for my wife and I. My daughter and her family (includes three kids) are still booked on at the times I reserved. This is even more worrying now and I don’t want to be split from my family. Jeez

  5. Posted earlier that I was trying to book early dining for 7 of us (3 kids) on Explorer our of Ravenna next month but no availability for 6pm or thereabouts. As a backstop I booked MTD a couple of weeks ago for later times each day (7.30 etc). However I’ve just received a load of emails advising that they are all cancelled by Royal Caribbean. They gave no reason for doing so and I wonder if anyone has experienced this before and what the reasoning was please.

  6. Thanks. Interesting about the MTD turn up without a booking scenario. Im a bit of a control freak so like to have things all organised. I’ve spoken with my TA (who originally has cocked up on this) and they are contacting RCI on this to get us on the early sitting. Can’t say that’ll bring about a solution but you live in hope. I’ll also try the concierge and the maitre’d if necessary. Fingers crossed. The good news is we won’t starve and the kids will get spoiled anyway.

You can just show up and wait, basically like a regular restaurant. Once a table is open and the reservations are fulfilled, they'll seat people waiting for tables.

That’s what I’m worried about. Kids couldn’t handle that.

  8. On Explorer in May and had booked MTD for the seven of us (4 adults and 3 kids). Tried to change this to the 6pm main dining room slot but couldn’t. Presumably fully booked.  Question is can you just turn up at 6pm for MTD or is it a requirement to pre book. What if the 6pm time isn’t available could someone advise what happens then please

  9. Hi we’ve organised a transfer through our hotel in Ravenna (palazzo bezzi) who have arranged a company called Scaioli. As there’s 7 of us we will need two vehicles apparently. I’ve only found this out this morning. The cost would be €160 for one and €110 for the other. They will also take us to the cruise port from the hotel and pick us back up after the cruise to take us to the airport. Having looked at all other options it looks like this is still the cheapest way for the transfers. The only other option for the transfer back to the airport after the cruise is Royal Caribbean themselves. I’ve seen this offered by RCI on the ship but not sure if it is still available. I read that it was $40 per person and for seven this would still be on a par with Scaioli even allowing for two vehicles.

Depending on the demographic on a particular cruise, specialty dining can go from over subscribed to virtually empty. We have been on numerous cruises where the specialty dining wait staff were wandering the ship trying to get people to book a dinner. Typically that ends up with you getting a 2-fer or better.

    Thanks Orville.

Prices are also listed on the  app under Dining and selecting the restaurant.  Chops dinner for my upcoming cruise on the Wonder is $69 per adult.  $12.99 for children under 12.

    Izumi dinner 1 entree is $59.99 +18% gratuity for 1 entree.  $64.99 + 18% for 2 entrees.

Thanks Crewsweeper very helpful, appreciate the info
