  1. Two of us are coming in on a Fri in August for an AK cruise on Mon. We're looking to save money on a hotel cause it's basically a bed and shower. I've been to SF several times b4 but had a friend that lived in Belmont. I found BART to be convenient to get into city for sightseeing etc so was thinking we'd have more economical options staying near SFO. My question is this....do hotels close to airport have free or low cost shuttles between them and SFO and how much hassle would it be to deal with luggage on the train to the pier? I have done this in Boston a couple of times and also in Chicago and DC (not for a cruise obviously but using public trans with luggage). I did do it for a cruise in Boston and it was no big deal. Boston people were eager to provide assistance without asking.

  2. It's a little bit of a trip to/from if those folks are still operating out of their home. Lots of lights. I'd say a good 20", maybe 30".

  3. I sent my daughter and her boyfriend off with our cards during our CB out of January. They enjoyed it but I guess everyone else did too since there were lots of cards to draw from and we ended up empty handed.

  4. Totally agree with you Rocker.....some folks just aren't happy unless they're unhappy!! My Daddy always said that some folks would "bitch if they put 14K gold nails in their coffin!" Then there's lots that see it that they are on vacay and every cruise employee is their personal attendant for a week....or six!

Not enough water intake today but on track. Just got too busy trying to purge some kitchen cabinets and didn't drink enough water. Oh well. One more bottle before bed and that'll have to work.

  5. We did Trykes Aruba and really liked that altho they neglected to tell us it was a national holiday the day we were there so lots of roads closed. Aruba IMO is very boring scenically. Reminds me of a dessert in AZ or CA. I'm just not dry sand gloomy person. If I'm going to be around sand, it's gonna have blue water attached!

Did a pvt tour in CR with Jose Ramirez. He's very good and is mentioned on these boards which is how I hooked up with him for our group. We have become FB friends and I hear from him regularly. He is bilingual and responds very promptly to em etc. highly recommend him. There were 6 of us plus him, older daughter and driver. Went to Jaguar Rescue center and sev other places inc lunch @ a coastal restaurant.

  6. Weigh in last night over 7# lost! Of course I know most of that is water cause I've been peeing like a Russian racehorse!! But the real victory is NO fast food all week long! No alcohol (not that that's an issue anymore) and really no junk to speak of. I even cooked a bunch of chicken breasts on the GF grill so I'd have those readily available.

Going on East Coast PCL cruise five weeks from Sat so looking for suggestions on food ideas. I really like seafood and could prob eat Salmon every day if it was fixed right.

  7. Yes there is stair climbing and Cartegena is very hot. It's also a ways up from the parking lot to the monastery or whatever that place was. We lucked out and got there first (private tour, van transportation) so our guy got close in. When we were leaving there were lots of big buses with nowhere to park and lots of people having to trek up the hill then the stairs and they looked pathetic. This was mid March. If you've got mobility or serious health issues (heart/lungs) I'd pass on this. Old City itself somewhat interesting but by the time we got there I'd had enough of old, hot and dirty. And people trying to sell crap I wasn't interested in buying.

  8. Nachi is not the kids hangout.....Mr Sanchos is. Also beach snorkeling not much. They offer a snorkel trip that lasts around an hour and goes to a couple reef areas. It was $35pp when we were there in Jan. we didn't do it but overheard some people adjacent talking about it when they returned.
