A little, sort of, secret that took me some time to find. Go up to deck 14, port side, all the way aft to the sky pad (big orange, kind of ugly structure). There is a stairway that brings you up to an over the water walkway. I was pretty timid walking on it the first time. Ok, I was kind of timid the second and third times too!

Not so secret now! I will check it out in August.

@Joe33472 Thanks for the live! Looking forward to being on this ship.

Premium economy means you can check luggage and cancel right?

International flights, you will get one free checked luggage, plus free adult beverages even in regular economy. On A2S i did not see any flights that had the basic economy.

When I booked our flights from DFW to FCO and back (within a few weeks of availability) the price for two in economy was $1626 ($813 pp RT). We are going two days in advance.

The flights were originally on Air France with a layover in Paris. AF changed the flight from Paris to Rome (which did not give enough time time to catch the next flight).

A2S, changed our flights and now we are going on Delta (layover in Atlanta). Our return flight is now a nonstop on American.

On Delta, I was able to go to the Delta website and choose our seats. On American, A2S was able to choose the seats we requested.

Happy so far. We don't leave until late August, so we shall see.

I am a little paranoid since I got dizzy then briefly passing out, then spent two days in the hospital, we leave on a 12 day trip in a couple of weeks, my wife is in grat shape but if I am on the floor weighing 270 she is unable to help me getting up . Hospital said problem was dehydration so I will be drinking way more water .

My husband kept getting dizzy. His Dr also said dehydration and that he needed electrolytes. She told him first thing in the morning to mix 8 - 16 oz. water, a capful of lemon juice and 1/8 tsp of pink salt and drink it up. He could not believe the change. His energy level is back up there. He feels great and is 81. Wouldn't hurt to try it!

Don't miss Barcelona if you haven't been. We did a TA last year and spent 4 days, which wasn't long enough to see everything. Such friendly people and beautiful sites.

Yes, I have been there before and do love it. I don't think the hubby would do a TA anyway...too many sea days.

It looks like Explorer ends her Med season on September 21st 2025 in Barcelona - so unless she goes into drydock - there might be an early WB TA - I'm guessing a 12 night to be in PC on a Friday to start her 3/4 night cruises🤔

Oh, that might be interesting. We are on that cruise that ends in Barcelona on the 21st. I was planning on staying a couple days in Barcelona but would consider a WB TA if that's how it plays out.

I feel like a get a lot of sneering when I say I booked carnival.

My jan stops are Panama, costa rico , columbia, aruba and curacao plus jamaica. 5 nice ports out of Galveston. Not my first choice but I wanted new ports.

I am doing a similar cruise (except no Jamaica and leaving from Miami), March 2025 on Royal. I too am tired of all the same ports from Galveston. I don't even look anymore.

Off subject, sorry. Speaking of flying I see you are in italy. I'm in the process of a b2b ends in rome italy end of may 2025. Do you happen to have a idea what a flight costs from rome to florida? Am I going to be in shock?

As soon as airfare opens, check out Air2sea with Royal. I was able to get DFW to FCO(Rome) RT for $813 pp. They are the cheap seats, but oh well. This was for Aug. 2024. I had to purchase seats on the Air France leg but it was only an extra $40 pp.

  8. Is there any advantage to paying off A2S prior to final payment (like 6 months in advance)? We have chosen our seats on Air France and American (paid for on AF). By paying off this far in advance, would we be considered "ticketed" and more guaranteed of having the seats we chose (barring the fact that planes can change and all that?

If we pay off A2S, do they just hold on to that money or do they go ahead and pay off the airlines for our tickets? If they just hold on to the funds then I guess it doesn't really gain us anything, right?

Sorry if this has already been addressed.

I have some OBC that shows on my booking that I know can be used for an excursion. If I choose to pre-pay gratuities, am I able to use this OBC towards them? My cruise is already fully paid and my plan was to the OBC for the grats.

The correct answer is you can NOT use the promotional OBC to prepay gratuities. You can only use the OBC for items in your cruise planner. BUT, you CAN

use it to pay the gratuities once on the ship.

Take some time to read the CDG website, so you can get a feel for what the transfer process involves.  You will going from the extra-Schengen to intra-Schengen sections of the airport, so note your route.

As I have often said, don't dawdle along the way.  There will be shops at your departure concourse.

I have been looking some. I am hoping one or more of my travel mates will look as well. Hopefully I will get a better understanding by the time we go.

  11. Our connection time is 85 minutes. Are we going to have to haul A$$, or will we likely be okay? If times matter, we are supposed to leave DFW at 3:40pm, arrive CDG at 8:05 am and leave CDG at 9:30 am.

I have purchased Air Tags after reading some stories about luggage not making it. Been through that going to Venice.

    Thanks for your infinite wisdom!

  12. Looking at my A2S docs on the legs that are Delta/operated by AF, our first and middle names are merged as if they are one name. Is that normal? Example is ARTLEE or LINDAKAY. Art is first name, Lee is middle name. Linda is first name and Kay is middle name.

On the return flight which is on American, it looks normal in that Lee and Kay are separated from the first names.

I am trying to figure out if this is going to be an issue. I did try to talk to A2S about it and they didn't seem to know what I was talking about. He said he could remove those middle names as we really only needed first and last.

    Any ideas?

On cheaper tickets it is usually 1 free checked bag per person.  On the much more expensive Flexible tickets it us usually 2 free checked bags per person.

If you try to look it up there will be different rules for the DFW-CDG and CDG-FCO flight.  The transatlantic rules take precedence over the rules for the shorter connecting flight.

If you want definitive answers somewhere on your paperwork it should have an Air France tracking number.  You can use that to look up the details on the Air France website.

Complementary wine and meals would be on the overseas flight.  Your likely going to have to pay on the shorter flight,   The French take their wine seriously, I would expect it to be slightly better than the US airlines.

Thank you so much! Better wine sounds good to me!

    You are flying to China?

Your bags should check through to your final destination. You will not see your bags at CDG.

OOPS Sorry, I fixed it. Going to Rome.

    Thanks!!

  15. We will be flying DFW-CDG-FCO on Delta, operated by Air France. I paid to select seating, which I was okay about.

    1.  For luggage my paperwork says 4 x accessory and 4 x hand baggage (there are 4 of us). Does this mean I will need to pay for a checked bag? If so, any clue as to how much per bag and would it be for each leg of the flight? When I clicked on that option it wouldn't let me do it.

    2.  I think I read that wine is free (even for the cheap seats). True or False?

    3. When we get to CDG, I know we will do passport check. Do we need to collect our checked luggage and recheck it or will it go on through?

Thanks for any info from you  air gurus.
