  1. Looking at my A2S docs on the legs that are Delta/operated by AF, our first and middle names are merged as if they are one name. Is that normal? Example is ARTLEE or LINDAKAY. Art is first name, Lee is middle name. Linda is first name and Kay is middle name.

On the return flight which is on American, it looks normal in that Lee and Kay are separated from the first names.

I am trying to figure out if this is going to be an issue. I did try to talk to A2S about it and they didn't seem to know what I was talking about. He said he could remove those middle names as we really only needed first and last.

    Any ideas?

On cheaper tickets it is usually 1 free checked bag per person.  On the much more expensive Flexible tickets it us usually 2 free checked bags per person.

If you try to look it up there will be different rules for the DFW-CDG and CDG-FCO flight.  The transatlantic rules take precedence over the rules for the shorter connecting flight.

If you want definitive answers somewhere on your paperwork it should have an Air France tracking number.  You can use that to look up the details on the Air France website.

Complementary wine and meals would be on the overseas flight.  Your likely going to have to pay on the shorter flight,   The French take their wine seriously, I would expect it to be slightly better than the US airlines.

Thank you so much! Better wine sounds good to me!

    You are flying to China?

Your bags should check through to your final destination. You will not see your bags at CDG.

OOPS Sorry, I fixed it. Going to Rome.

    Thanks!!

  4. We will be flying DFW-CDG-FCO on Delta, operated by Air France. I paid to select seating, which I was okay about.

    1.  For luggage my paperwork says 4 x accessory and 4 x hand baggage (there are 4 of us). Does this mean I will need to pay for a checked bag? If so, any clue as to how much per bag and would it be for each leg of the flight? When I clicked on that option it wouldn't let me do it.

    2.  I think I read that wine is free (even for the cheap seats). True or False?

    3. When we get to CDG, I know we will do passport check. Do we need to collect our checked luggage and recheck it or will it go on through?

Thanks for any info from you  air gurus.

Have you already bought your tickets?

If not, why not fly on an airline where they have a 2-4-2 configuration for the aircraft so you are two seated together?

Or is seating only a consideration after the tickets are bought?

I am using air2sea so have not paid for tickets yet. I did want to get something booked as prices were changing rapidly, maybe due to the war going on now. I grabbed something very reasonable and it would be fine, but I can change if something looks better.

We are traveling with another couple so we could do three together and then someone could have an aisle seat across the aisle. It will all be fine I am sure.

  6. I have my cruise air booked with air2sea. I know (until final payment) that I can make changes. My question is, am I able to have one flight changed and leave the other as is? In other words, I want to keep my return flight but might want to change the outgoing flight.

  7. I know you would be guessing, but are flights from US to Europe typically flying full? Seats are 3 together and my husband doesn't want to sit by a stranger (he sure as hell doesn't care if I do though...but on an overnight flight I prefer not to either). If I choose window and aisle, would the middle seat likely be taken?

    DFW - CDG - FCO   Aug 22

    FCO - DFW   Sept 3

Let the advice and guessing begin:

Just don't make the mistake of using it.

The best seat maps currently available are on aerolopa.com. Although you have to work out for yourself what the advantages and disadvantages are of each seat, the accuracy of the seat maps means that most of this is pretty obvious. (Anything that SeatGuru said beyond the blindingly obvious was usually worthless, anyway - leaving aside the inaccuracy of its seat maps.)

I will have to check it out, thanks.

  9. I normally get better insurance but this time for this short, cheap 5 day cruise that we will drive to, I opted to get a small medical only policy. It includes $15,000 pp medical and $150,000 evacuation. It also had a small amount of trip interruption and lost luggage.

I guess it is a gamble with such a small amount of medical but I guess we will take the chance. This policy was only $18 that we found thru insuremytrip. The policy is Bershire Hathaway. BTW, my husband is 80 and in great shape.

  10. I haven't sailed on NCL for probably 10 years but found an itinerary I really like. Hopefully I can get a few questions answered.

4 Free at Sea: I understand about paying the gratuities on drinks and dining.

    1.  For the dining, pricing breakdown shows I would pay $39 per person for the specialty dining gratuities. What does it actually include? Does that mean I can go to any specialty dining, any time and order anything or is there some sort of limit?

    2.  I didn't see where it was mentioned about regular gratuities for room stewards, servers and such. I assume there is a daily and pp gratuity. It doesn't appear to be wrapped in the 4 at sea. What is the daily pp gratuity for a regular balcony room?

    3. Excursions: When they state we would get $50 per state room per excursion, is there some sort of limit on how many excursions you can apply this to?

    4. The last time I was on NCL, we were allowed to bring on bottles of wine and were charged $15 per bottle. Do they still do this?

Thanks for any info. I will likely have more questions.

We cruised this past March on the Horizon.  It was offered then.  We just asked our waiter at dinner and we bought a 5-wine package.  We received 5 coupons that we used throughout the week.  I thought it worked out very well.

Yes, we were able to purchase this in August, but with these most recent changes I wonder if anyone very recently has been able to purchase and what the new pricing might be. We sail end of Nov. and I was hoping to be able to get this.

So, has anyone sailed since the latest changes and know the answer to this?
