  1. I think Oceania figured it out that mailing all these brochures generates more revenue than they actually spend on printing and postage. In this case no amount of complains will stop them from doing it. The cost of the publications is included in the price, therefore no discount on the cruise fare is expected.
  2. If your OBC comes from the TA it’s most likely a refundable credit. And you will have two options. If the credit either non refundable or refundable you will be able to cancel original bookings that were paid by credit card and rebook on board given the classes and excursions aren’t sold out. That’s the way to go with the non refundable credit. But you can also leave everything as is and then cash out unused refundable credit on the last day of your cruise otherwise the balance will be refunded to the credit card on file.
  3. No need for the capital letters. And what’s is acceptable to you doesn’t mean it’s the same for everyone. Anyway you were so unlucky. We haven’t experienced the service to be bad to that extent on any of Oceania ships. But if I was so dissatisfied with the service I would look for another cruise line.
  4. For us the choice is the result of the equation of the accommodation, the food, the price/value and most importantly the itineraries. So far Oceania won big. But probably if you look at the other boards the result will be different.
  5. Even if the ingredients are similar the presentation and the final product is different when it’s plated and served to you from the kitchen. I believe that this is what matters when we choose to eat in the restaurant.
  6. After cruising on O many times we often prefer to dine in the GDR over the specialties. Even we’ll not “write home about” it we always know what to choose of the menu and find the quality of the food and menu selection well above the average and completely satisfactory to our tastes. Everybody’s taste is different and yours is obviously not the same as ours.
  7. All funds that were paid with cash/credit card will be returned as refundable OBC. If not used refundable OBC can be cashed out at the reception desk on the last day of the cruise. Otherwise it will be refunded to your credit card on file.
  8. I posted based on what we were told by the Future Cruises Consultant onboard Sirena last month.
  9. Probably it’ll be about September this year.
  10. Booking onboard discount is a fix amount which is scaled based on the length of the cruise and the cabin category. If I remember correctly it could be something between $150 and $1,500 per cabin and normally is about 5% discount of the total cost of the cruise depending upon whether it’s more or less expensive based on the per day price of the particular cruise. There's also a not cabin related ship board credit which varies from $100 to $300 depending on the current promotion in our experience.
  11. Sorry, I don’t remember what it’s on the Marina but if anyone is interested it’s about 13 on the R ships.
  12. Hopefully, you will be able to rebook and enjoy your cruise.
  13. Yes, most of the time you can get the sale price if it’s before the final payment is made even when the cruise wasn’t booked onboard. But technically it may require cancellation of the existing reservation and rebooking for the lower price. With the recent changes that will result in loosing $150 pp cancellation fee. On the other hand, onboard Best Buy Guarantee promises the price reduction or any other form of compensation up to the sailing date without loosing any funds that have already been applied to your reservation. That’s one of the incentives for booking while onboard the other cruise. I hope that will help you understand the process better.
  14. The “Best price quarantine” isn’t a feature of any sale. It’s only offered for the cruises that are booked onboard.
  15. Yes, if I remember correctly it was the beginning of the year sale that gave us the extraordinary discount. But keep in mind that any sale normally is for the select sailings only that suppose to sail soon and aren’t selling well for some reason. I’m not sure why our cruise to the exotic ports of Asia in February 2025 was also included at that time. The current sale also provides some significant savings for included cruises if you are able to book a balcony cabin for the OV price, etc…
  16. I can’t answer your question but you wouldn’t have any problem if you want to buy a snack anywhere in Japan and credit cards are widely accepted.
  17. Our cruise is a part of this 4 category upgrade sale. We have “The best price guarantee” but the current price of our cabin is much higher than what we got during the previous sale that we had taken advantage of.
  18. Each person has O account that reflects their own loyalty level. Why’d you expect your spouse to get a free cruise before he has enough credits to be Platinum. That wouldn’t be fair to others who are waiting until they reach the level which entitles them for their free cruise. Enjoy your free cruise as it’s a great achievement for those who have sailed with O long enough.
  19. That’s interesting. Our fridge in the regular cabin on Sirena was stocked with two types of Club Soda cans from the day one with no need of asking for anything.
  20. In case you don’t know there’s a non-refundable $150 pp to cancel from the day one after you pay the deposit. And then an administration fee one month prior to the final payment.
  21. Actually, there are very few “activities” you can expect on the small Oceania ships. It looks like you definitely will be happier on the big ship of any major cruise line.
  22. That’s become normal nowadays for all major museums in Paris. There’s no “skip the line” option to get right in. And it’s normally a long line to go through the security as well.
  23. I can’t tell you anything about Kiel in particular, but if you book your air with Oceania their included transfer will take you to the airport where your flight will depart from.
  24. If you book a minimum of 5 excursions as listed for your cruise you are eligible for the 25% discount no matter whether you have or don’t have Simply More. Sometimes the discount won’t be applied when you book your excursions online. In this case you’d need to call Oceania and they will apply the discount for you. And you don’t need to have a TA to do that.
