  1. I'm on here too. I got off the Island Princess in Copenhagen and jumped on the Grandiosa. I stay on for another 3 days at the end of this sailing, Barcelona -Genoa- Barcelona, then I hop on the Meraviglia back to Port Canaveral, ending my 140 day European adventure, 134 days of which will be on cruise ships. So far, honestly, I'm not loving the Grandiosa. I'm calling it just OK. I can't believe that there's only 3,800 people on the ship, it feels like WAY more. It's so darn loud!! I enjoyed my Divina cruises more, but that's just me. Looking forward to seeing if the Mera is different.
  2. Exactly. I’m on Princess which uses medallions which I assume are similar technology and I love it. I truly couldn’t care less if they’re tracking me around the ship. If I did something really stupid and ended up going overboard, I’d be really happy that they knew about it immediately. Except, I don’t know if they actually would because it’s not like they’re really staring at these things all the time. I love walking up to my door with my hands full and hearing my lock click open 3 feet away. I like that my room steward knows if I’m in the cabin or not so he’s knocking wanting to make up the room when I’m in the shower. I love ordering my coffee or tea to my state room or my chair in the library. Will I pay $5 for the service on my upcoming Meraviglia and Grandiosa cruises? Probably not.
  3. I don’t know, but I’m doing the same cruise. I expect it will be euros, but it’s hard to say.
  4. How did this work out? I’m booked on an itinerary doing the same thing in July. I was super excited by the idea of an overnight stay in Stockholm, but not so much if we’re going to be anchored out and all I can do at night is sit there and look at the city. I got the impression that they’re not going to run tenders at night, and I actually can’t even really argue with that logic.
  5. I have the Princess Plus. But they’re not gonna have Norwegian or Icelandic microbrews or some weird Scottish heather mead. It’s nice that on Carnival IN EUROPE I can experience these things without wasting port time bellied up to a bar (not that most of them can be bought in a bar either) because they let us bring them on and enjoy them. HAL did the same in Europe. Apparently Princess doesn’t, or it isn’t that common.
  6. Yes. That’s true of of most cruises, but European ones are often different. I’m on the Carnival Pride right now and we can bring on whatever we want from ports. I’ve only brought wine or beer, but others have even brought hard alcohol. It was the same on Holland America in Europe.
  7. Hi all, I know that many cruise lines relax their alcohol policy and allow folks to carry on and keep wine and beer from ports. Does Princess do this? It is really nice to be able to bring on a local beer or two to try. I was on a Princess TA earlier this year and I never noticed if they did anything different for our European port stops.
