1. I was told on the Epic by the HD, when I told him I thought mine had a problem, they are coolers not refridgerators. Some ships seem to have better ones than others.

We like to bring 16oz bottles as they are resealable and fit in the "cooler".

  2. Hi. You might not have gone through the whole thread. All the evidence suggests they moved lobster tails from the mdr to the buffet sometime early this year and are gradually replacing the lobster tails in the buffet with a lobster pasta in the buffet gradually. Nobody has stated it one way or the other although the Hotel Director on the Star told me early in June this was going on and on one of the reviews of the 22 June Breakaway cruise from NYC to Bermuda, somebody reported that was the first cruise where there were no lobster tails in the buffet but the lobster pasta and I can report that on my cruise on 06 July on the Breakaway, that indeed was the case.

The evidence may be circumstantial but I don't see how one can reach any other conclusion that as the new menus NCL is claiming is so much improved is introduced gradually on ship after ship, lobster tails are an endangered species. I do hope that the suits will at least own up to it.

Was just posting my recent experiences. Sorry, we only get to cruise twice a year.

  3. On our June 7th Gem cruise we got awesome lobster tails the first night in the Grand Pacific. On the Breakaway cruise in Dec they had lobster in the buffet on the 2nd night. We didn't get any but I heard they were nice tails. Not sure if there is a fleetwide policy on this as of now. Maybe the NCL poster will answer?

  4. We loved having dinner on the waterfront, we ate at Cucina and Moderno. Was a big hit for our group.

You can grab a variey of wrapped egg sandwiches at the Uptown Grill in the morning. Easy to grab, get some coffee and take back to the cabin in the morning. They made some great meatballs in the afternoon the week were on.

    Have a great cruise!

  5.
Allow me explain it to you - Aquahound was making a comment on the irony of someone
with the screen name of smokinjoe being a non-smoker. Get it ?
Kind of like the irony of someone on this thread about BALCONY smoking who always books the cheapest inside (42 posts ) or another who posted on our RC after a cruise "Won't do NCL anymore. Too crowded. Lousy food in general."
  6. We have been lucky enough to be guested, split or have our own cabana 4 times. From what I can tell they are assigned in the order they sell. If you call NCL they will tell you you can request a cabana # as soon as you board, even if you tell them thats not true. In reality you will have your cabana # in your welcome aboard stuff when you get to your room.

  7. I have to laugh when one poster all over every balcony smoking thread says they always book the cheapest inside cabin and another has definitely said they will never cruise NCL again (we were on a roll call).

As a smoke by the rules (always increasing), loyal NCL cruiser, with 4 reservations, I have to admit I feel kinda screwed.

  8. Hey guys - is this thread for info on the ship itself? Building, informational releases, deck info, etc? If it is, could you take your tour planning to your roll call? I'm sorry if that sounds mean, I really don't mean to be at all ... it's just hard wading thru all this stuff!! Thanks :)

PS - i really hope this doesn't sound mean!!

You guys are having way too much fun, take it somewhere else ;)

  9. They dont have mini-fridges on cruise ships. They are electric coolers. They will keep some drinks "cool." But definately NOT cold. Big savings in electric bill. That is why they dont make ice either.

Our first cruise on Epic we were told by Sean the HD it was a cooler, not a fridge after we told him it was not working right.

    Mitsu really enjoying, thanks :D

  10. Will depend where you live if the cigarettes are cheap or not. I think last time we paid around $150 for 5 cartons.

NCL in general allows smoking on balconies and I have not seen anything posted here, on NCLs site or in a daily that it is prohibited on spa category rooms balconies. Not 100% positive tho.

  11. I've read many of your posts, mostly those about ports of call versus ships or actual cruise reviews. I'm curious why I you don't appear to cruise Southern Caribbean or much on the Eastern side? My first several cruises were Western, but I really love islands like Barbados, St Kitts, and St Lucia much more. Of course, those require longer cruises or starting in San Juan.

    Just curious?

For some people its not where you go but who you go with :D
