Saw a guy on the Jade turn a $10 craps bet into around $1800. Placed the 10 for $10. 10 hits, parlayed the bet and moved to the 9. 9 hit, parlayed the bet and moved to the 8 8 hit, parlayed the bet and moved to the 6. 6 hit, parlayed the bet and moved to the 5. 5 hit, parlayed the bet and moved to the 4. 4 hit, he took the bet down... He called it "walking the dog".
Try calling CAS directly (use the number from their website) and see what they say. They don't usually call, but I'm pretty I have gotten calls in the past.
If you want to get comps as a table player:
Always buy-in for a good size amount when you get to a table (like $500) and bet at least $25/hand. It's not that the buy-in amount matters but you want the pit boss to take note of you. If you buy-in for $100 and play $10/hand they just don't care...even if you throw down another $100 when you lose (or worse, a few $20's), they don't consider you a player.
Always color up your chips when you leave a table. It probably doesn't hurt to pocket a few higher denom. chips when no ones looking (particularly on cruise ships which seem to place a higher value on your win/loss value).
Be realistic. The house edge in blackjack is around 2%. At $25/hand the house expects to make fifty cents. You might hope to get a nickel of that back as comps. It takes a lot of hours to get comps as a $25 bettor.
Be friendly to the dealers and supervisors. A few tips never hurts.
I've been on the Joy, Jade and Epic in the last 18 months and all have had a poker table. Yes, the rake is Very High, but the games are usually a lot of fun (and the level of skill fairly low).
We had this exact issue for our last 2 cruises...no ability to make any reservations online. I finally called to ask about it, and they said I had to call CAS. When I called CAS they knew all about the issue and made the reservations. I have no idea if this was just a technical issue, or some new "improvement", but it definately has been happening.
I was recently on the Epic and they wouldn't even take your card at the poker to track your play...so no points. The rake was obscene (10% $25 max...the highest I've ever seen), but the games were pretty soft and there was a fun group of regulars.
My family just returned from the West Beach tour and had an excellent time. It was a full open air bus, but not too uncomfortable. The driver provided lots of narration. They provide water and beer. The beaches were spectacular, but the turtles made the day.
It's been a few years, but as I recall the ferry terminal is walking distance from the cruise port. Several ferry's run each day with separate schedules, so note the return times (it's not a regular schedule like every hour, it's more random). Once at Nevis, take a taxi to Sunshine's.
