Missing the point?? Just because YOU have decided what you think the point of this thread is doesn’t make it so.

Have you not noticed that people see your point of view? It’s not that we don’t understand what you are saying, it’s that we don’t agree.

BTW you can’t stay at any resort you choose as you stated. You can’t go to an adults only resort with children either. Same thing.

Thanks momof3cruisers!  I was not missing the point at all, just having a difference of opinion.

I agree, we sailed in 4ks  5 times and always between lifeboats for a decent view. I never did read the reason why the decision was made. Good memories.

We too have sailed in them 2 or 3 times.  Loved the value and the fact that we could open the door to get in some fresh air and also get a view.  Not sure if I would consider booking them now.  I guess if it still similar in price to an inside but with a big window it would still be worth it.

Not only are the doors not welded shut they have been entirely removed and replaced with one large window on the ships that have been converted. I have heard there may be one Spirit Class ship that needs 4k conversion but I do not know which. They were a great bargain.

So now there are windows?  Do they open?  I would prefer the doors that opened.

On airplanes whenever I travel if there are mechanical difficulties that delay or change my itinerary there is usually compensation.  When I fly to Europe those airlines actually have to pay $800 euros for a disruption for more than 2 hours to someones trip on an international flight.  You might not get annoyed when your trip is completely changed on you but it is completely unreasonable to expect someone else who is cruising to not be disappointed and not want compensation.  I would go stir crazy if I was on a ship for 5 days straight.  I need to get off at ports and sight see.  My wife is completely different and that is why cruising works for us.

Compensation for flight delays are totally different.  You are either stuck in plane or at an airport. Boring!  And compensation is only paid after 2 hrs, as you stated.  Missing ports does suck and is annoying, but you are 'stuck' on a ship with an unlimited amount of activities to choose from.  Yes, the port would have been better and maybe you had an excursion booked, but $100.00 of OBC sounds very reasonable to me.

I think you are missing the point of our discussion. The Havana area is like this after 6 pm on this and all of our prior cruises. Therefore, prior to the new rule changes. Wouldn't it be fair and beneficial for others to enjoy this area if it is empty? It appears you believe it should sit empty in case you want to utilize it. Not very practical.

Currently on the beach in Aruba. Enjoy your next cruise.

As I have stated in a previous post, I did not care that it was open to the rest of the ship after 7 pm.  But the rule has changed and it was obviously for some reasons.  Not sure what those reasons were, but it is now not open to the no Havana passengers after 7 pm.

I do not believe it should sit empty in case I want to use it, but I do like the fact that it will be less crowded, even empty, for my enjoyment(and all the other Havana guests) as I/we have paid for that usage.  Enjoy Aruba! 🙂

BTW, pictures of it not being crowded is EXACTLY why I booked it. The last few cruises I have been on, the hot tubs were packed party areas and I avoided them. These look great!

For us too.  The idea that we can enjoy the pool and hot tubs at anytime of the day without all the kids and crowds is why we switched from a cove balcony to an interior Havana room.  Hated to give up the balcony, but figured the Havana area will be our balcony... and since we are travelling with friends we can enjoy it together.

  7. It really depends on how important it is for you to have early access to your room and priority dining, etc.

We have only purchased it once due to having ports that were tendered and this gave us earlier access to get of the ship.  We also purchased it when it was about $60.00 per room.

I really do not think it is worth it, but many will likely say it is to them.

There is no angst, just a discussion my friend.

My daughter just turned six, so we would not put her in a seperate room from us. Many families have younger children and are in the same predicament. Our daughter loves going to Camp Ocean, and does so during the day for a few hours. Both my wife and I travel internationally extensively during the year, so this is our FAMILY time to catch up. While others are at the MDR, enjoying shows, playing at the arcade, or at the bars, we are hanging out at the whirlpool talking while my wife is also reading, and my daughter is pointing up at the stars and moon marveling at its beauty, normally from the warm, quiet, hot tub. I so enjoy seeing the excitement in her face with having the opportunity to spend some quality time with mom and dad. We do all the other things mentioned above constantly for business needs. Not why we cruise!

Many times, my family and I have to travel and live overseas for extended periods of time. I do pay for business or first class, even for my daughter, who is NOT excluded from traveling this way because she is five! Can you see the difference? Also not excluded from booking any hotel or resort we choose.

The yacht experience was a choice for others who appear to not want to be near children at all. A difficult option on a Carnival cruise. Honestly, having my home base in Florida, traveling to Asia, the Philippines, and South America, I am aware of many reasonably priced yachting options. We also have Virgin coming on line soon, so another reasonable choice for an adult only experience.

Carnival is a great value, and wonderful cruise line. Why I am always on it. Let's make it a wonderful experience for all to enjoy! 😎

It sounds like you live a very lovely life and are very fortunate to have a job that allows you to be able to travel with your family frequently.  So to others your complaining about one small issue not being fair to you sounds ridiculous.  Life is not always fair and there are bigger injustices in this world to be more concerned about.  Don't sweat the small stuff, right?

imageproxy.php?img=&key=6ee4bfcebcfde1cbimageproxy.php?img=&key=6ee4bfcebcfde1cbimageproxy.php?img=&key=6ee4bfcebcfde1cbGreetings cruise family. Just arrived in La Romana, and enjoying our Horizon cruise as usual. After reviewing several comments, it appears there is a difference of opinion which is fine. Some want exclusivity with no kids, others want to enjoy their cruise with their family anywhere on the ship. I don't understand the comparison given by many to the Family Harbor area, kids zones, or arcade? You are all allowed to book, pay for, or use these areas without exception. I personally cruise for quiet time, the pools, and whirlpools. I also like to enjoy this with my family. This is why the Havimageproxy.php?img=&key=6ee4bfcebcfde1cbimageproxy.php?img=&key=6ee4bfcebcfde1cbimageproxy.php?img=&key=6ee4bfcebcfde1cbimageproxy.php?img=&key=6ee4bfcebcfde1cbimageproxy.php?img=&key=6ee4bfcebcfde1cbana area is so appealing to me. I am not against an adult only area, Serenity, but I do have issues with excluding my family and I from cabins that I can easily afford. The allowance of additional guests after 7 pm was a fair compromise to me, until my daughter reaches twelve. Looks like many of you have not sailed the flag ships, so you don't realize the Havana area is under-utilized after 6 pm. Attaching a photo to emphasize this point and show each of you what the area looks like nightly on our cruises. This is why I enjoy it so much after 7 pm. No rowdiness, loud crowds, fighting, etc! Noone is complaining, just offering a different perspective to adults only cabins and limiting any individuals experience on Carnival. The family friendly cruise line. We also noticed ample space available on deck 5 forward that would accommodate additional pools and whirlpools familiar to what is available on the Breeze and large enough to do a Havana pool and whirlpool. imageproxy.php?img=&key=6ee4bfcebcfde1cbThis area would work well for families to enjoy. Off to imageproxy.php?img=&key=6ee4bfcebcfde1cbthe island. Let's appreciate everyone's opinion and offer solutions to Carnival. Our favorite cruise line by far! 😎

If your only issue is the change of the after 7pm rule, then I can sympathize with you. I had no issue with the area opening up to the rest of the ship after 7pm, especially if it looks like that every night.  Love the picture and cannot wait to enjoy the area on our cruise in March!  Enjoy your cruise!

You are not excluded from any of the above if you are willing to pay for it! Not restricted due to any age.

Life is full of age restrictions, this just happens to be one of them.

Do you complain about your child not being able to go in the Serenity area, which is restricted to 18 +??

And if not, why are you OK with that?  There is no extra charge for it, but it is restricted due to age.

  11. I really do not understand all this complaining about an area that has one restriction...you must be older than 12 to enter.  People who choose to pay for one of the Havana rooms pay a premium for it.  It is a small area of the ship and I highly doubt it will make all the other areas feel overcrowded.  SMH 🙄

I agree with you and in my case it really helped me book a Carnival cruise when I had no desire to previously.  I am pretty excited about it (maybe unfounded).  Also I will say that the Havana Cabana cabins are completely sold out for our cruise (HE category) and it is months away.  Most of the other room categories I looked at (suites and nice balconies) there was plenty of availability so I believe that it must not be that hard for them to charge the extra 1k over a normal balcony for a HE category room.

I checked out 4 cruises (out of Galveston) and on each of them there were maybe 2 or 3 available HE rooms at the time when the ship had plenty of options otherwise.

I believe our cruise on the Panorama in March is also sold out of HE category rooms.  Which tells me people love the idea.

I think the question should be, "Why was this area with the best whirlpools and pools designated as an exclusive area for adults and children over twelve in the first place?" You are not excluded from booking in the Ocean Suites, Family Harbor area, etc. if your age is 0 to 125. Why should I have to wait until my daughter is twelve to enjoy this area? There is no resort in the world, outside of Adult only venue's, that would exclude me from booking at their facilities as long as I have the financial means to do so. Why is there an exception with Carnival? What about the poor families who are booking a Havana room, then an additional non-Havana room next door for their children? Literally being forced to pay double, and still unable to enjoy the pools and whirlpools with their own children! I think this is utter madness, and not reflective of the family values I have come to enjoy aboard Carnival.

I get that you are totally against this.  But Carnival has created this area I am guessing because it is what guests have asked for.  If down the road it ends up being something that does not seem to fit the majority of their passengers or the Havana rooms are not being booked, then they will likely change it.  I personally feel it will it not change in the near future.

No one is being 'forced' to pay double.  It is a choice you have.  If it is too expensive then a family would book a different room.

I would happily pay for it. Carnival rules don't allow it! As I stated earlier, there needs to be an improvement in all the whirlpool and pool areas aboard Carnival cruise ships.

Your issue is the age restriction and I can understand that.  But it is designated as an area for adults and teeangers only.  Once your daughter is 12 you can also enjoy the area.

I think the change is good and hope Carnival goes one step further and makes the area 18yrs and over. That would definitely get my attention and I think would be a great selling point.

    Love this! ☝️

Let me give a quick example. Would you book a family get-away at a high end resort, and then like to be told you can't access the nicest pool or hot tub area? Of course not.

There are many all inclusive resorts that have pool areas that are only allowed to those who stay in certain rooms or in a certain building.  And a premium is paid for it.  If you want access to all of the ship/resort then you need to pay for it.

Agree with above post.  Havana guest pay a premium for their room over the exact same room on any other part of ship.  I doubt I would have ever booked a room on a 4000 pax ship without having some assurance of quiet time.

Agreed.  We decided to pay the premium amount, Havana interior room over a cove balcony, which were essentially the same price, to try the area which would be less crowded and free of all the kids.

I like the idea of the no Havana guests after 7pm as we enjoy sitting in the hot tubs in the evenings free from kids.
