On our next cruise in the United Kingdom there will be a lot of traveling by motorcoach through some very scenic countryside. Does anyone recommend those flexible lens hoods made for this?
TIA

Thanks Dave as usual you are great with helping, I do have the Samyang so I should be set. I don't believe I would need a telephoto since most ports are cities, please correct me if anyone has done a British Isle cruise and found different.

Greetings it has been a while since I last posted, I currently still shoot my Sony A6300 when I travel, I rent lens for whatever I am interested in like wildlife and landscapes. We are taking the Disney cruise in September and was wondering if my 18-105 f4 can do all the work or is there a lens I should rent that will do me more Justice?
Thanks

Thanks Dave but I am looking at Hand Straps just for some more stabilization while shooting

How many of you use hand straps with your cameras and which do you recommend?
TIA

Doing a multiday land, That lens was my original thought but some others told me for the sloths, monkeys and toucans I will need a large telephoto. We will be on the Pacific side so the jungle is less dense. The other thought is also renting a good marco lens for the second body for the all the smalls, frogs, flowers and such. I always get the best advice here so...

Going to Costa Rica with my two Sonys 6k and 63k, I will be bringing my 18-105G and Rokie 12mm but looking for suggestions what lens to rent for the jungle? I was thinking getting the new 70-350G made for crop cameras or should I go to reliable 70-400 G? Thanks upfront.

Thanks Dave, I am looking forward in trying the 100-400FE after drooling over Zaks pics on DP. but you are right the 300 is a better all around lense. I will be looking forward to your review

Hey Fellow Zonie the people who are responding to you are the experts with your camera, I am going to Alaska this September with my 6300 and my 6000. This is my second trip, I am renting the 100 -400 Sony and wouldn't go to Alaska with out it. Sometimes the wildlife is close most times in the distance. The lens is very expensive, but very if renting most people can swing it. I use Borrowlens and Lens Rentals

Thanks for all the replies.

Last time we cruised to Alaska, DW was able to purchase hot chocolate with alcohol added on the glacier days. Does Princess offer the same? If so, what is the cost? :p

Hmmm, since I am looking at what to rent for my Alaskan cruise in September I wonder if it will be available to try out with the 100-400FE that's in the cart. By the way should I also look at the 1.4 converter to lug around also?

You Can always rent a kit and get great photos and its covered if anything happens

If you like to fish you can do it for cheap off one of bridges for some huge salmon. Buy a license on the dock next to the ship bring your own pole with yah or rent on the street. I had a blast catching fish and giving them away to anyone that wanted one, till I landed a monster that broke my pole in half :D

If you looking to rent and not just use what you have, remember you can get really nice glass for Alaska by renting. A Pro grade lens versus a consumer grade is a huge difference
Just my 2 cents

The only real way to get close shots is by small boat charter, the hiking tour is very rugged and very long and the shots still need a good telephoto. but on land I never took off my 18-105 its was the perfect size.
Aloha

We choose this cruise to see different ports from last visit, it looks really good to do bears at Icy Point and not that expensive either. Thanks everyone for your support

We have those same excursions booked with them for August 2025. We are also doing the Best of Rome and the Vatican with them. They are a great company to deal with and very attentive.
