With everyone talking about lens I am surprised nobody is lusting over the 70-200f4 that Justin uses to make everyone jealous over his BIF. I know what I am saving for :)

You could rent a big lens and adapter pretty cheap, did it when I went to Alaska, didn't want to spend $2,500 on a lens when I can rent to for just over $100

Dave again thank you for your time to help those of us who are still learning the joy of photographing, you give an honest review on what works and what doesn't. You are patient and don't have a knee-jerk reaction on stupid worded posts.

I went with the following kit for my cruises, the two lense kit and the Sony 50/1.8 plus the Rokinon 12/2 manual lens. Dave talked about these lens on his trips and I am loving these four lens for carrying around.

I am surprised they picked the Olympus TG-3 not this year's TG-4 a far better camera.

I am thinking of subscription to the Lightroom/Photoshop plan but have a question can I download itmto my main computer and my Laptop. I travel with me Laptop and like to do somethings onsite instead of waiting to do it all once I get home.

Just remember you get what you pay for, selfie sticks are very popular and there is alot of cheap ones on the market. Seeing acouple of phones fall off the end of these sticks on our last cruise makes me shake my head. I use a lightweight monopod with my Sony A6000 to take pictures at different heights just to change things around.

Hey Guys I think the poster is looking for an Sony/Minolta a-mount lens, Nikon and Cannon lens are great but it doesn't help the question. :)

There is a website dedicated to Sony mount lens, Dyxum.com you can you up pretty much find every lens out there and find out if it is what you are looking for. Just because it is a Sony lens does not make it the best lens in that range. Another great site to get info is dpreview.com and look for Sony A forum. Good luck in your search.

You won't be sorry and remember you can buy an adapter to use your Canon lens if you want.

Don't get overwhelmed with learning all the bells and whistles all at once like Dave said the auto on this camera is very very smart, you just need to shoot.

Now start reading all the posts on the A6000 thread have fun! !!

Like Dave, I have also switched to the A6000, the size difference for traveling was the sell for me, but I actually dread carrying around my old full size gear nowadays. There are several mirrorless cameras on the market and would look at them instead of a full size DSLR. Of course my preference is the Sony A6000, I hate wasting money I want quality and something I can use out the box.

You can see some of his vids on YouTube, check it out and decide if the way he presents is good for you

Terri there are lot of water cameras on this forum, the best is the Olympus TG-4 and it will about $350. Of course there are lots of others cheaper, I like to buy for the present and the future. Alot of people like the Gopro 4 silver check it out too.

Terri you will love this cruise, all three stops are great! You have what you need with those two lenses all the bases can be covered. Yes the cheapest underwater housing is over 2 and the ones we really should use cost a grand, so we used our older underwater cameras we got great shots. For Belize we did a ship excursion since it is a tender port and did the river cruise to Lamanai Ruins. What ever you do you will have a great time.

Terri just came back from the Western Caribbean, I took it to the beach but I was very, very very careful where I put it down kept in it in my fanny pack. I bought the Rokinon 12 instead of waterproof housing I was planning on and don't regret it. I see people trying to take fantastic shots with their Iphones and don't understand why mine are so much sharper. The size of this baby makes it such a great travel camera. I did rent a locker when I snorkeled, I really don't trust people that much :)

I have found you just have to use it, its small enough to take with you where ever you go just shoot and shoot and maybe shoot so more.
Don't forget a question not asked is never answered

I was the only one with a great wide angle so everyone else had to lay on their bellies, to shoot over the ledge. I just had to get my tripod close to get the shot. I love the Rokinon 12!!

The shows were very lightly attended, I was shocked never been on a cruise with this many empty seats.

Did I miss if it has image stabilization? Or are we still stuck with finding lenses with it
