  1. Would love to read your thoughts! So little has been posted about this ship.
  2. Agreed on the Downy Wrinkle release but with carry on space at a premium you may not have room to bring enough. i have sent out items of clothing - mostly DH’s shirts on the first day of the cruise for ironing only. This is an option on the laundry sheet in your cabin. We are not platinum/ diamond so it was not free but worked well.
  3. Hooray! This said all I needed to hear 😝 Thank you for all the info. It’s been very helpful ahead of our Alaskan sailing next month! Relaxation is absolutely what I am looking for and this sounds perfect
  4. Now if only you could watch the games on board that you want to bet on. We love spending time in the Vegas sports books... would love a similar experience on board. On our Horizon sailing the sports bar was much too small for the number of people wanting to watch the NFL games that were on. With channels so limited it was packed - believe me I am not looking for more TV options in my cabin - but I wish while on board there were more and larger where they exist - places to catch the games.
  5. Can you confirm what is available in the shower - in pictures I have noticed only one dispenser. Is it body wash or shampoo? I usually pack some shampoo anyway but curious which one it is so that I am sure to have enough for the duration of our trip Thanks!
  6. Hello CC I just realized that this year we will be onboard the Luminosa cruising the Tracy Arm Fjord on Father's Day! Curious if Carnival does anything special on Father's Day - and I know Mama's day is here first but I will be very land locked here in Saskatchewan on Mother's Day this year... maybe thats a goal for another day. Thanks everyone!
  7. This happened to us a number of years ago out of Long Beach. Another passenger accidentally took our bag instead of his. Thankfully he lived in the area abs when he opened the bag and saw our tag he called our cell. There really wasn’t anything the staff could do. It took a few hours of stress but we got it back. hope it works out for you.
  8. Oooooohhhhhhh noooooooo That is really disappointing. Thanks for confirming.
  9. Thank you @EngIceDave - I am following along with your longest review ever 🙂 with great anticipation!! Will be so nice to have a CC regular sharing insight on this ship. Have a wonderful voyage!!! And thanks for the details of your entire adventure!
  10. WHAT - no craps on Luminosa????? I am going to have a very sad DH if this is true. We are heading out to Alaska in 63 days and I never would have thought it didnt have craps as every other Carnival ship we have been on has a table.
  11. I think its been asked and answered but with the live thread - can these be booked for a day? I'm guessing that's an "on the ship" gamble.
  12. Is this on the Celebration as well or only Mardi Gras? Our last two cruises - Horizon and Magic - had the lower table limits - $5 craps etc.
  13. Thanks - yeah I have found some of these YouTube videos but many are in all honesty fairly annoying. I'd rather read a live trip report or summary after the fact that follow along with drawn out youtube channels. But I appreciate you going through the effort of sharing the links @kwokpot
  14. I am so looking forward to the sailing back to the US and the ship begins her Alaskan journeys!! I know its early April and those are still a bit away but a girl can daydream...when she's supposed to be working LOL I have the June 15th sailing booked and am very much looking forward to some more "chatter" - reviews, comments, questions etc. about this ship! So far the info I have found is minimal. Also will be our first Alaskan sailing so really hoping for a few "lives" and detailed summaries of your experiences - hint hint to anyone monitoring these boards like me who are on earlier sailings 🙂 I have been reading the Alaskan page here on CC - but honestly there is way too much focus on big ticket excursions which are not in the cards this trip, nor are they typically part of how we travel. I like lower key, on our own activities - not on a schedule. As the season begins hopefully there are a few folks who just like to get off the ship and wing it - finding a cool pub, taking in the local sights etc. Happy Saturday and sailings to those on board throughout the seas today!
  15. Thank you @Astromaid for your review! I have this ship booked for October and your insights and observations were very helpful!
  16. Older houses here in our city in Canada had those as well.
  17. The wine pairing was included with Cheers!!! Counted as one drink 🙂
  18. This is exactly why on our last cruise my husband and I accompanied my parents on the trip they wanted to take. Dad had significant stroke 5 years ago and now relies on a fair amount of support at home - uses a cane/walker depending on length of the journey. It is not an option for everyone, but there was no way even with the wheelchair assistance in the airport, porters at the terminal etc. that they could have managed getting through airports and getting on board the ship without our help. Once on board the did pretty good - which makes them think that a trip on their own could be doable... sigh... that's a discussion for my siblings and I down the road - tag your it 🙂 But depending on the flights - how would they manage if there was a delay or cancelation, length of layover(s), so many places for something to sideways if they are not as strong as they once were - going along for the cruise may be the safest option for them and your sanity as you worry about them each step of the way on their own. I know this is not feasible for many people and I do count us as lucky to have been able to support my parents like this - and make a bunch of great memories in the process.
  19. It seems to be - based on things posted here over the past numbers of months - that the Shareholders credit and the Casino rate rules are not being applied consistently. Based on what I’ve read I will retry and see what happens. It’s only $50 so not in a twist about it.
  20. Hmmmm submitted for our upcoming 6 day Alaskan cruise and was declined - $100 casino rate. Will resubmit this week and try again…
  21. I love starting off the cruise with a night at the Steakhouse. We kicked off our Magic cruise last month with my parents with a night here. We treated ourselves to a 50% off bottle of Dom AND the Wine Pairing (on Cheers). It was a fabulous evening - celebrating being on a cruise with my parents (along with DH), this was after my dad had a massive stroke 5 years ago - so super special to have been on that trip with them. The food was great, service was even better. I didn't take a lot of pictures of the food - too busy having a great time!
  22. Yeah I was torn to be honest but after 8 cruises I still have not set foot in one - and I love spas on land based holidays LOL Will see about a day pass to check it out this time.
  23. Ourselves using the website - it is how we have booked all our cruises since our first one.
  24. Hey folks I often see people posting about what they were offered for an upgrade so I thought I'd share as a point of reference for others. Our decision was to pass on this offer. Booked on a 6 Day Alaskan cruise out of Seattle on the Luminosa, June 15th. This is our first Alaskan cruise and yes we are some of those annoying casino deal people.... so jumped on the offer. This was the only date that worked between life and work schedules, could have had a 7 day but those dates did not work. And yes our casino deal was $100 per person for the first two on a balcony, our DD decided to join us on this adventure (she's 20) and her rate was $70... for the cruise, $200 OBC for the cabin. Plus the port fees and taxes which were quite high compared to what we are used to on Carribean cruises.. but I digress... Today as I went in to make our final payment I had an offer for an upgrade - $226 to move up one deck (almost exactly on top of our existing balcony cabin) to a Spa Cabin category. We've never done a spa cabin and TBH I was tempted - the idea of access to the warmer spa therapy pool on the cooler cruise sounded great but I can just purchase a day pass if I become so inclined to try it out. As well with so little information yet about this ship it was hard to justify the cost. I would rather put the $$ towards adventures in Alaska - which will be food focused LOL, bring on the crab!!! So there you go - for anyone tracking upgrade offers it could have been $226 for the three of us to go up one deck to a spa cabin. Hope whoever chooses this option enjoys it!
