  1. I love the idea of slippers for a long flight. I've seen some passengers go barefoot. That is just gross!
  2. It's $50 more, total, for Aqua, compared to Concierge. That's how I feel. I've never cruised Celebrity, but I've watched several video reviews and looked at the current Blu menus and the food looks amazing and exactly the type of dishes my husband and I love. I don't feel like we'd need to do any specialty dining if we have Blu. It's only $600 more for the cruise to do Aqua over a regular Veranda cabin with drinks, wi-fi and tips added, so it's not substantially more. $600 isn't much. That's one night's hotel with taxes, etc., in Vancouver before our cruise. I figure we're saving at least one specialty dining meal, if not two, by having Blu, and we're getting the spa benefits, which we'll enjoy. We cruised in a spa balcony cabin on a previous trip. Admittedly, it was Carnival, but it was on a Mediterranean cruise on the Vista, which was a brand new ship, only three months old at the time, and it was lovely. If we enjoyed their thermal spa experience, I assume we'll LOVE Celebrity's! The SS is substantially more, about $4,000 more total. I picked cabin 1109 on Deck 11 which isn't right under the movie area, nor right above the Sunset Bar. People who have stayed in that cabin say it's very quiet. I chose Aqua class due to location. There was literally only one standard veranda room left and it wasn't in a very good spot. So I had to opt for Concierge or Aqua to get a better location. I wasn't really interested in my best, I wanted to hear other people's idea of best. Lots of great info given here. Definitely all about location for me, too. That's how I ended up choosing between Concierge and Aqua. No good veranda rooms left unless I went up to those classes.
  3. Which is best on the Millennium? Aqua class or Concierge class?
  4. I have been on three cruises. I always take too many shoes, about 5-6 pairs. How many pairs do you take?
  5. That itinerary doesn't go through the Inside Passage. The Seattle sailings go into the open sea, and not the Inside Passage. Generally I've found the ships that sail from Seattle are too large to go through the Inside Passage. The Vancouver itineraries do the Inside Passage and hug the shoreline.
  6. I'm looking into holiday cruises for 2023, and I'm wondering which decks have the best aft-facing balconies on the Encore. I read that deck 9 has the deepest balcony and deck 12 has the second deepest but that was just one comment and I don't know if it's accurate. thanks so much in advance for any info.
  7. Great program. I saw it in my email and we already have my husband's military benefits in ID.me so it was easy to register. 10% off for future cruises is a wonderful plus.
  8. I was able to upgrade to Premium online after I paid the cruise in full and it was the lower price.
  9. It's not like you're going to have a bad time on a Celebrity cruise to Alaska. You know you love Celebrity!
  10. That was a very tough call for me, too. I decided I'd do the small boat excursion to see Hubbard Glacier, and we're doing a canoe/hike experience at Mendenhall Glacier, but I know there's no comparison to Glacier Bay. I have seen College Fjord before on a one-day cruise, and it was magnificent. I decided that for us, this will be a "taste of Alaska" cruise and we will experience more the next year and in years to come. I decided to put the ship experience over the Glacier Bay experience since I knew we'd love everything we saw, regardless.
  11. Several reasons. I liked Princess second best. I had several friends who know my style who didn't think I would like HAL, based on their own experiences with that cruise line. One of whom has worked in the cruise industry for a few decades and has cruised over 100 times on nearly every cruise line. My closest friends who cruise thought I'd like Celebrity, NCL or Princess. I chose Celebrity based on their advice, the ports on the itinerary, and the times in port, and because I liked the style of the Millennium. It was completely revamped in 2019 and I like that it is a smaller ship with about 2,100 passengers but still has tons of wonderful features. I also like the specific dates of this sailing, because I'm quite limited in the window of time I have to cruise since my husband and I are doing it while our son is at summer camp. Basically, we like things that are rather fancy, but we didn't want to spend $15,000 or more on the luxury cruise lines. Celebrity seemed to fit our style and preferences and would have people our age (we are 51 and 54) who like the things we do. HAL is an older crowd, and while Princess seemed nice, I preferred Celebrity overall. I'm sure I'll try a Princess cruise down the road. I ruled out NCL for Alaska because I don't like that they dock in Wards Cove and I don't like the ships they use for Alaska.
  12. It wasn't that bad, took a couple of hours. I was determined to find the right one. I was looking at multiple cruises from multiple cruise lines and all of the times in ports vary as well, so I wanted to see which ones were the best. Once I had them all side by side it was remarkably easy to choose.
  13. That's true, thought about that as well. I'd lose $200 tho from the non-refundable deposit. I'd probably just book the land portion myself. It just seems more seamless if they do it.
  14. I have booked a Celebrity northbound cruise for July 2023. I could not book a cruise and land tour at this time due to work schedules. I'll know by January if I am able to stay longer and do a land portion post cruise. If so, would Celebrity allow me to tack on a land portion, or would I have to do it on my own?
  15. Okay, I'll stick with the Pan Pacific and cancel the Fairmont. Sold!
  16. I cut and pasted every itinerary that I was considering onto a doc on my laptop and reviewed and assessed, including port times, so that I could compare and contrast.
  17. Thanks for all the input. I booked Cabin 1109. It looks like it's where there's a bump out, so perhaps the balcony is a bit bigger.
  18. I have a Millennium question. I booked our cruise for next July but I'm considering moving to an Aqua Class room. My only concern has been that some of the best Aqua class staterooms are on deck 11 and I'm worried about noise from below on Deck 10 with the restaurants, and Deck 12 above with the sports facilities. Has anyone heard of this being a problem?
  19. Since the Prima is new, just wondering if magnetic hooks work on the cabin walls. Does anyone know?
  20. A dear friend who I trust and who has worked with the cruise lines for several decades recommended it, along with another friend who has cruised Celebrity to Alaska.
  21. the 5 Glacier Taku Lodge experience must be popular - it's already sold out for my July cruise!
  22. I would have liked an aft balcony but the only aft balcony left on the Celebrity Millennium was a spa balcony that overlooked a restaurant deck and wasn't right over the water. I decided the noise and lack of privacy would bug me.
  23. I booked both the Pan Pacific and the Fairmont Waterfront in Vancouver for our July 2023 cruise and need to figure out which to keep and which to cancel. The Pan Pacific includes a free breakfast at their hotel restaurant and luggage transfer to the ship for $508 a night. The Fairmont is $448 a night. No breakfast. So pretty comparable once you add in breakfast. Those prices include all taxes, etc. Will the Fairmont take our bags to the port? Which hotel is easiest and prettiest and offers the best service? The Fairmont Pacific Rim was about $150 more, so I ruled it out.
  24. I've booked both the Pan Pacific and the Fairmont Waterfront for the night before our July 2023 cruise on the Celebrity Millennium. The Pan Pacific is $508 with breakfast and luggage transfer to the ship included and I believe I read there's an elevator right to the cruise ship. The Fairmont Waterfront is very close to the ship as well, I read it's a 5-minute walk, so nothing we cannot manage, and it's $448 with all taxes and fees included, but no breakfast. Basically, the price is about the same once you average in buying breakfast on your own. I'm just wondering which hotel people prefer. I'm interested in staying at whichever is nicer and will be the better experience overall and I'll cancel the other.
  25. I booked my first Celebrity Cruise and added "All Included" for the drinks, wi-fi and tips package but then I changed my room today and it doesn't seem that the "All included" package transferred over. I can call tomorrow and get customer service to tack it back on, but now I'm wondering if it's worth the bother. Is it a better deal than adding each piece on separately? I'm sure someone here has done the math. Math isn't my strong suit, so I'm wondering what the best deal is?
