  1. Thanks all..I have one last probably dumb question...on the cruise we are looking at suite 720 a forward PHB is open...I have photos of the Voyager and did a zoom in to look...but from the funny angle I took the photo, the balcony looks considerably smaller then the other PHB or any other for that matter...if anyone has stayed in that cabin some feedback would be appreciated..

Although the Penthouse B cabins have a larger suite and squarer layout, the balcony size is the same as the basic cabin balconies(50 sq ft) and smaller than Penthouse C balconies.

Best if you look at the deck plans and room layouts on the Regent website

  2. they'll put the photos back up after they put the shelves back up.

    Brilliant comment. :D

It is disappointing that refurbs on Regent over the last few years have often been more about style than passenger comfort e.g. Low chairs in lounges, peculiar seating in nightclubs and now reduction in storage in suites. Plus the 'new look' appears to be just various shades of beige.

Hope it is not too late for Regent to take some constructive input from their customers (and on-board staff) before the Mariner and Voyager re-fits.

  3. The new book has a separate book with the prices, different from the usual one. It shows the new refurbished cabins on Navigator. I don't think it can be completely up to date as the seven sea society benefits do not show the new ones seen on line, and it also does not mention the new business class flights included. It has all the cruise planners you see online. Also included are a few wee flyer books and 2 DVD copies featuring the Explorer. Jean.

    Jean,

Remember that there will be differences in the offerings each side of the Pond.

For example, it is unlikely that Business Class Air will be included in the UK pricing

Getiton, Very snarky. Obviously he has performed well financially, the requirement in the corporate pay sweepstakes. In addition, while there may be minor complaints about the Regent experience, the clientele don't seem to abandoning ship!

Was getiton referring to FDR's remuneration or the cost of Navigator's refurbishment?

  5. Yes, Voyager still suffers from aft vibration and this bothers some guests.

Presumably you realise that the Penthouse C suites on Voyager have the same area (306 sq ft) and layout as grades H to D. You do get the benefit of a Butler and the view from the back of the ship..........as well as vibration.

You might want to consider a Penthouse B or Penthouse A. Although the size is only marginally larger they are a better layout (IMO)

Whether the vibration will be an issue for you is impossible to judge.

  6. We two are first timers and I have just read the last three reviews in the review section and they are horrible! We have a deposit on the Canada/New England cruise on the Mariner this fall and now are leery about going.

Can some seasoned Regent cruisers go in there are read these reviews and tell us what you think? We'd appreciate it.

    Thanks.

We understand that Mariner did have some significant issues in South America earlier this year which were reflected in the reviews you have read.

The following blog was from the same cruise and may give you more in-depth information on what happened and how the issues were handled:

    http://boards.cruisecritic.co.uk/showthread.php?t=2319597

The following more recent blogs/reviews indicate that Mariner has recovered from the difficulties earlier this year:

    http://boards.cruisecritic.co.uk/showthread.php?t=2334584

    http://boards.cruisecritic.co.uk/showthread.php?t=2332665

But of course cruising always comes with the warning "ship happens", and it is up to individual guests as to how they react to any issues that may occur and how much any problems impact on their enjoyment of the vacation.

Personally we have always enjoyed cruising with Regent (Mariner is our favourite) and have always found that Regent staff always make their best endeavours to correct any issues (large or small) that we bring to their attention.

  7. I am on the Mariner now and have been for the last 16 days. I can assure you that wearing designer jeans with open neck long sleeve shirt with or without jacket you will be smarter than 90% of the passengers on board.

Designer jeans with collared long-sleeve shirt certainly sounds a lot smarter, and more in line with the description elegant casual, than the polo shirt/chinos combo :);)

Just my opinion of course.................and not wanting to add fuel to the flames

  8. You should be OK with the included internet on your Mariner sailing; the dates are on the Regent website as follows:

Seven Seas Navigator: March 17, 2016

Seven Seas Mariner: May 8, 2016

Seven Seas Voyager: May 2, 2016

Seven Seas Explorer: July 20, 2016

The internet pricing has probably been included in your documents in case you wish to have more than one log-in (the included internet only covers one log-in used on one device at a time, unless you are Gold SSS or above)

  9. Mr Rumour

Thanks so much for your blog which gave us a perfect 'virtual cruise' and a few near-to-tears moments (in a good way). You write so descriptively and with such feeling :)

Having ended a couple of Regent cruises in Miami, we do feel the debarkation process etc is not the best. Having late flights back to the UK we also opted for the hop-on, hop-off tours; we did not find them to be a luxury experience and could not understand why the shuttle bus dumped us on the arrivals level at Miami airport, some half-a-mile away from the departure desk (with no luggage porters). It was definitely a let-down at the end of what had been a superb cruise :(

Being Regent's home port we are very surprised that they cannot do better

  10. Very well said.........................but I think the word you are looking for is 'enlightened' rather than 'snobby' :)

At least our first-world challenges on Regent just come down to those esoteric questions, such as:

"I wonder if anyone will mistake these slacks for jeans?"

"Should I tip the Captain after dining with him/her?"

When we get to the airport and security asks "Did you pack this case yourself?" is it OK to say "No, our Butler took care of all the packing"

NB: For anyone with a sense-of-humour relapse, these are all offered tongue firmly in cheek :D

  11. However, my brother in law has had to forfeit £2,000 !! because he had to cancel a cruise he'd booked for late May. Regent said that he could either transfer the £2,000 another cruise, only if the cost of the cruise was the same or higher than the one he'd booked, or he would have to lose the money. Well he looked and looked but couldn't find anything he and his wife wanted to do, so in the end they lost £2,000 which, as you can imagine they're not very happy about.

Sounds like your brother-in-law received an extremely fair offer from Regent (compared to their UK Ts&Cs). It was unfortunate that he was unable to take up their offer.

Did the reason for his cancellation not fall under the terms of his Travel Insurance?

  12. Should my husband take one of his black suits on our cruise next month? He was going to leave it at home as it takes up valuable case space and weight, we have a flight to consider.

Do you have any 'formal optional' evenings on your cruise? If not then my opinion is to forget the suit.

If you do have one or more 'formal optional' nights then it is very much a personal choice as to what you and your husband feel comfortable with; he could either wear the suit, a jacket/blazer or just a collared shirt and trousers.

  13. We did a cruise out of Capetown with Regent last December.

We opted to do one of the three day Safaris offered by Regent as it was included in the cruise fare. There was no difference in th lodges offered to guests in different cabin grades; the earlier you booked the more choice was available.

We stayed at Pumba Msenge lodge which was excellent, but everyone we spoke to on the cruise had a fabulous Safari experience whichever lodge they chose

  14. If you decide to go with Regent then immediately before you book go onto the relevant Roll Call and/or the 'sticky' entitled 'Member Referral Credit' and ask an existing Seven Seas Society member, who is booked on the same cruise, to sponsor you.

You will receive on-board credit and the sponsor will receive future cruise credit.

    :D:D

  15. We have been cruising with Regent for the past seven years having previously cruised with other lines.

We love the Regent product, mainly because of the excellent service from friendly, well trained staff; it is also genuinely all-inclusive.

Sometimes we have had complaints (mostly minor), but these have always been properly addressed when raised with staff.

Most other passengers are a joy to meet; the ships are just large enough so that you can avoid the odd rude or obnoxious ones.

We were on Voyager last spring and on Mariner in the summer and at Christmas. We perceived no negative changes from the takeover by NCL

Hope you find a cruise to your liking and have a great celebratory voyage

  16. Have a great day. :):)

PS on the original subject of this thread, I doubt if you will get anyone to admit to making savings; they will either be accused of bragging or being down-market customers who might lower the tone of the sacred Regent Experience

  17. There have been some references on this thread to the Anniversary Savings that have been offered in the UK, which understandably upsets some in the US and early bookers in the UK

However, as with all marketing, the headline is simpler than the detail. It is important to note:

    1. The offer is up to 25% saving

    2. It is on a limited number of cruises

    3. The 'up to 25% saving' is a comparison to previous UK pricing not a comparison to US pricing

To imply that Regent customers in the UK are paying 25% less for their cruises than customers in the US is erroneous

  18.

Apparently there are many differences between Regent in the U.K. and the U.S. As far as the subject of this thread, is anyone certain that a person in the U.K. can get compensation when a cruise fare goes down after final payment? If the response is "no", couldn't people reading these posts get even more upset if they go to their TA and are turned down.

So sorry to have confused you.

It does seem fairly clear that all the relevant posts on this thread (#44, 47, 49, 50, 52, 53) were all referring to price drops before final payment.

I do not think that anyone has mentioned receiving compensation after final payment, although a recent thread indicated that this may be the case if the booking is made on-board
