Some portions of the dress code are direct statements that don’t use the word  ‘should’.  Those portions are enforced, somewhat spottily, but they are enforced.

Have you ever seen anyone denied entry on a Chic night whose attire would have been acceptable on a Smart Casual night?

No I have not but the description and locations of chic night are not really clear in my opinion. I have seen people in shorts denied entry many times.

The dress “code” has a lot of should’s in it. Should, by definition, is a recommendation or suggestion not a requirement.   If you’re comfortable wearing them, you can wear your non-designer jeans on Chic nights.

I respectfully disagree, it is a requirement when they can enforce it by denying you entry which they do. I also am still waiting for Celebrity to define designer jeans.

I believe Luminae, Blu, and the specialty restaurants are always Smart Casual.

Correct, Evening Chic does not apply in those restaurants, has been that way for a number of years.

We are scheduled to fly out of BOS to MIA on April 24th for a cruise leaving on the 25th.   Due to flight issues of late, considering changing flight to the 23rd.  If there are flight issues, not sure that will make much of a difference since it is still too late to drive.  It's the end of Easter week, so pretty sure if the flight gets canceled getting another one will be near impossible, but an extra day certainly gives us better odds.  Could change to the 23rd and book a refundable flight for the 24th.  Any thoughts and/or suggestions appreciated.

Good plan, as a last resort consider driving to Washington and take auto train. We just did it due to Medical Emergency, saved wife driving three days by herself.

Also if you can and run into a problem make it three days.

Agree regarding itinerary. However, writing what we subconsciously want to see? Please... if I wanted to write what I wanted to see, then I am quite capable of identifying what I want. We (since I assume we are all not simpletons) are also quite capable of reporting what we do in fact see.  Nothing subconscious about it.

I don’t mean everyone of course.

Yes, you are correct. I dress for the chic/formal nights even when dining in Blu as do most (but not all) others that I see there. DW enjoys dressing up and getting the photos, so that's what we do.

Depends on itinerary, we did Alaska and hardly anyone dressed up in Blu, Luminae or the Specialties. I also disagree that in those restaurants the majority wear chic.

I have always been of the opinion that those on these boards in many cases write what they subconsciously want to see.

We are sailing at the end of April on Summit my husband and I and our 2 children ages 18 and 20years old staying in 2 Aqua Class Suites.  When booking our TA did the booking so both my husband and I were each in a room with 1 of our kids as we were told children under the age of 21 can't stay in a room without an adult.  The TA told me that once we arrive we can switch rooms to have my husband and I in our own room and the kids in their room.

My question is has any one done this? and if so how do I go about doing this?

Both my husband and I have premium beverage package and the kids have non alcoholic package so if you switch rooms how do we get our cards switched as well to match our rooms otherwise my husband's key will continue to work on the kids room..

any suggestions and experience would be helpful.

Your TA got it wrong, Celebrity’s policy is children can be in their own cabins as long as they are in an adjacent cabin. We did this with our kids 25 years s ago. Tell your TAvto pull out a Celebrity brochure and look at the back area where they have various rules.

The said book is there from 7.30 am until the owner decides they will get some sun , left again while they get lunch and a drink from the bar.

I don't like midday sun so I'm the person on deck at 8 am watching chair hogs and I usually leave around 10.30 -11 am. You may be surprised by the number of people that reserve chairs and disappear for hours.

Agree seen it many times, even seen people leave multiple towels etc and leave the ship for shore excursions. Also there are those who reserve chairs in the sun and shade.

I was recently on a 7 night Edge cruise and even with Elite status I was not allowed access to the Spa as the E class of ships are under a different contract to the S class. That's pretty crappy,  the only benefit is the free bag of laundry IMO.  Those benefits need to be updated but unfortunately will not happen.

They are under a different contract and of course changed the name so technically you don't get the perk because Persian Gardens doesn't exist on E class ships.  Even have it on the web site now.

    he Persian Garden

For thousands of years, people have found that moving water and temperature variations provide relief for muscle and joint issues, speed the release of toxins from the body and promote deep relaxation. The Persian Garden pass includes use of the aquatherapy environments from aromatic steam to tropical rain showers for a rejuvenating experience. AquaClass® guests enjoy unlimited access to The Persian Garden. Available on Millennium Series and Solstice Series ships.

So what the heck is a "coffee house style breakfast"? I read that and I'm thinking back to the bacon egg and cheese sandwich they nuked for us at Starbucks.

Its actually a very nice Continental Breakfast plus, been around for many years.

We are on Apex and have seen everything this week. In Lumenae at lunch Short shorts, tshirts, bathing suit under a see thru cover up. Dinner in specialty restaurants a little of everything. Some dress nicely, some do not. We really feel since covid the way people dress on cruises has declined.

Shorts and tshirts are okay for lunch and breakfast.  You will see everything thing in Specialty restaurants because they are smart casual every now get.

We have enjoyed on a few occasions a dinner with one of the officers.  We found them very enjoyable.  Does anyone know if they are doing it anymore post Covid?

They really don’t do that anymore in the traditional manner however we had a Royal Suite and had a wonderful lunch with many of the officers on Summit.

    Hi,

If we wear clean, non-ripped pants and t-shirts, will we be turned away from specialty restaurants for dinner? No matter what night it is? We are a quiet couple, keep to ourselves, and really hate to pack for and dress up for dinner. We have never had a problem on our other cruise line, but I would hate to be unpleasantly surprised at being denied dinner at the restaurants of our choice on our cruise.

Thank for for your experienced answers, even if you do not approve! 🙂

Depends on the t shirt, usually they want a collored shirt. Realistically, it will depend on who is at the door. Pants are okay, dress code in Specially restaurants is smart casual every night ,  they do not do Evening Chic.

I also have been on both and prefer Equinox. The S-class ships (which includes) Equinox are newer and a bit larger. I also like the layout of the Oceanview Cafe (buffet) on S-class with the island layout. It's much less crowded and easier to navigate, especially in busy times. The shopping area is also laid out much better. In addition there are more (and in my opinion) better specialty restaurants aboard Equinox. All that being said, if your looking for less children, choose any X ship.

Equinox has Murano, thought by many to be Celebrity’s best specialty restaurant.

Have been on both ships and prefer Equuinox although you can’t go wrong with either.

Soon to be followed by the “crewing at sea” program where, for a nominal fee, passengers can work alongside a crew member.

Never know, when I saw the title of the thread I thought it was about coffee.

Didn’t reciprocity used to go through the plus levels?  In any case, I guess we don’t have to go on another Royal Caribbean cruise just to make Elite Plus.

You can't get to Elite Plus through Royal Caribbean, the only way to get there is by earning the requisite points on Celebrity cruises, always been that way.

You can dine with them in the MDR. They will not be able to dine with you in Blu unless they are Suite class.

Additionally, you should check and see what dining they have, anytime or fixed. Your signed seating is in Blu, you do not have a seat assigned in the MDR. If they have fixed times in the MDR you may not be able to eat with them.

Arrangements need to be made in advance if you want to have dinner in the MDR.  Blu will be your assigned dining room but you do have options.  You may want to consider having dinner at the buffet.  It is more relaxing in the evening.  There are often rotating  theme nights which are very good i.e. German, Italian, seafood, Mexican, Chinese, etc.

Also, those sailing with you cannot eat in Blu even for a fee.
